Entirely appropriate imo.

I actually saw this mentioned on a thread yesterday when someone was asking for advice how to manage a new baby and swimming/changing and thought it was a brilliant idea. Wish I had thought of this when mine were very small.

littlepotatoes · 30/11/2018 10:23

I always did this when mine were small and had many envious glances from others trying to juggle babies and towels 😊

Just get one of those towels with Velcro that stay up like a little dress around you. Would look less silly and be less hot than a dressing gown.

I’ve always taken dressing gown to poolside when at outdoor pools on holiday

I got one from Decathlon soon after DS1 started baby lessons. As other pps have said, it kept me warm and dried me while I dealt with him. It was bulky though, so in time has been replaced by a poncho towel.

The poncho towel is also brilliant for communal situations and places like beaches.

I don't care if I look a prat as long as I'm a comfortable prat Grin

I can't believe the number of people who think wearing a towelling dressing gown when you are wet makes you look like a prat. What on earth are they for then??

MaybeDoctor · 30/11/2018 15:21

I got so fed up with being cold that I eventually started to wear a lightweight wetsuit in the pool for toddler swimming (sleeveless, short legs). I was so lovely and warm that I didn't care what anyone thought! Grin

beeefcake · 30/11/2018 18:13

I've seen people do this and been really jealous. If I had a towel material dressing gown I would do it.

Life is so much easier when you don't give a fuck what other people think!

ForalltheSaints · 30/11/2018 18:16

Just make sure it is a neutral colour, and not one with some sci-fi or Harry Potter theme, I would suggest. Seems practical to me.

I do - don't care if I look a twat I'm warm and my hands are free
