I've changed my name as I'm about to share a link that shows my house.

Next door is up for rent (and sale) and I was out in the garden whilst they had a viewing today, the viewer asked why I was letting my dog poo in the house they were viewings garden... umm I'm not! It's my garden!

So I set them straight and said well actually it's my garden and my dog can do whatever it likes... went back inside and googled the listing and there is our garden!!!

I'm going to have a word with the estate agents in the it office tomorrow as I want it to be extremely clear that that is our garden not next doors!!

It doesn't help that each garden is one step down from its respective house so I can see next doors garden from our french windows( to the right ) but they don't have a back door so have no access to their garden.

I've added a photo of our garden (the slate and sleepers to the right is next doors garden) and the link to the listing. The photo is from
The kitchen

Hollinwood Road, Disley, SK12

I've found a photo on Rightmove that kind of explains the weird shape of the houses and gardens..

I don’t have any real advice! But I’m very jealous! I spent my childhood wanting to live in those little houses! 😂 maybe I’ll come and be your new neighbor. You can tell me what’s what. I’m a wetwipe so I wouldn’t use your garden anyway.

frigginagents · 30/11/2018 02:31

@Bamchicabaawaa haha! I'm not usually so invested in neighbour issues! It's a lovely place and everyone is so helpful! I just don't want to have a thread in 6 months like wtf?! Neighbours using my garden! 😂 I love our house though! We have an aga and I'm converted!

So your garden isn’t the one outside your doors? You have to walk over your neighbours garden to get to yours, which is outside your next neighbours doors? Wow - I am so confused.....

frigginagents · 30/11/2018 02:35

@ThatWouldBeNO yes haha! Got it in 1 so the first set of french doors are ours. The first garden on the photo (blue arrow) that is number 2s garden but they have no back door so can't access it and never use it.

It's honestly so weird but kinda quirky

Jux · 30/11/2018 02:39

That is weird!

Bamchicabaawaa · 30/11/2018 02:47

Yes, I love disley. Have lots of family in the village! And spent lots of time there growing up. But my mum moved to London in her 20’s and I so want to leave the south!

Is there a house without a garden?

frigginagents · 30/11/2018 02:52

@Bamchicabaawaa technically number 2 has a garden but no way to access it other than walk all the way round the terrace.

Number 8 has put a garage on his and bids always in there fixing his classic relic and making things for his house, every body else has bull dozed Theirs and uses them for parking. We would do that but the path that separates the houses from the gardens get progressively narrower the further up the gardens you get and it would be very tight! Plus number 6 parks his second car outside his own house which completely blocks off number 4s garden- they can walk around it but it was there during the viewing so I assume they saw the car thought it was their neighbours and then saw my garden and thought it was theirs. I'll take some photos tomorrow when it's light 😂

ThatWouldBeNO · 30/11/2018 02:56

Very quirky! It all looks lovely!

RebootYourEngine · 30/11/2018 04:15

Is your neighbour allowed to do that re parking outside his house?

Roystonv · 30/11/2018 04:21

Please note the agent takes instruction from their client so if the owner of the building does not advise them of the strange layout then they are the one at fault.

fizzywatergulpgulp · 30/11/2018 04:31

So each of your gardens is diagonal instead of directly in front? Confused Maybe you should just switch gardens?! 😂

Ahberdhoom · 30/11/2018 04:31

Like this? That access is weird!!

Aibu? Cheeky letting agents!!
KonaMum · 30/11/2018 04:32

I’m all fairness, that layout literally makes no sense. I can see why they’d be confused! It seems like no one has access to their own garden without walking through someone else’s?

KonaMum · 30/11/2018 04:34

Why would you have French doors opening our onto someone else’s garden?! What does this look like on the land registry?!

KeiTeNgeNge · 30/11/2018 04:40

That is quite the ‘unique’ garden layout

Biancadelriosback · 30/11/2018 06:46

Is it possible that you're all just using the wrong gardens?

Atetoomanyjaffacakes · 30/11/2018 06:57

How bizarre, it would put me off buying there. No privacy at all

IceRebel · 30/11/2018 07:00

Is it possible that you're all just using the wrong gardens?

Haha that was my first thought. Seriously you all have a bit of land outside your house, but your garden is actually outside your neighbours house. This would drive me up the wall, and I can't understand how it has happened. Surely you should all have the bit outside your own houses?

Not cheeky of the letting agent at all, since they've included the "correct" garden. I'm surprised the issue hasn't come up before now as it's just so weird.

Returnofthesmileybar · 30/11/2018 07:01

Is it possible number two is the cf and having a garage and a garden that's not theirs? I don't think the agents are cheeky, it must be a mistake, I'd see that and think "nah that can't be right"

Pavlova31 · 30/11/2018 07:24

That occurred to me too Bianca Grin

weekfour · 30/11/2018 09:14

✊Stockport massive.

MrWolfknowsthetime · 30/11/2018 09:17

The agent is not being a cf at all, they have just shown the view out of the patio doors. It is the weird layout that has caused the problem.

I think installing patio doors that open on to someone else’s garden is cheeky though.

Shriek · 30/11/2018 15:14

No, not expensive at all! Cheap in fact, and very cute!

I have had agents try to let me into the wrong property before now and get exasperated because the key wouldn't unlock the door!
It's a very easy slip up looking at the layout of your gardens, knowing there is a garden with the property most would assume it relates to the land at the back of their property so,no, not exactly CF, just a reasonable assumption unless shown otherwise (which they should have been)

Shriek · 30/11/2018 15:15

Who on earth put patio doors opening to someone else's garden!?!?! Bizarre!
