...to be pissed off about this?

I have booked in for a particular treatment on the recommendation of a friend who's had it done. I missed a Black Friday deal by 12 hours. Fair enough.

A new offer has now been posted (with no Ts&Cs) to say if a friend has had it done, mention their name when you contact the practitioner and you get a third off. I have messaged them to ask if I can take advantage of this as I have my friend's name in my original message. But they refused. Because I have booked my appointment and paid a small deposit.

I feel like I want to cancel now as I think this is petty and short sighted for a new small business and I'd prefer to go elsewhere on that basis. But am I being a total twat?

I would cancel.

Perren · 29/11/2018 22:37

100% cancel

Leeds2 · 29/11/2018 22:37

I would cancel too.

(and I would possibly mention this on their Twitter/FB page)

MarthaArthur · 29/11/2018 22:38

I would cancel as well.

Aquamarine1029 · 29/11/2018 22:40

I would definitely cancel. Horrible customer service! Anyone with half a brain would be happy to oblige in order to form a good relationship with a new customer.

puppymouse · 29/11/2018 22:42

Glad to see it's not just me. I have messaged friend to go, "this is a bit shit!" Will see what she says. I'm always happy to support small businesses but I think this isn't how to get clients.

jackstini · 29/11/2018 22:43

How much is the small deposit?
Maybe point out to them that if you cancel and book again it would be cheaper?
Very shortsighted of a small business. Get that they can only do limited promotions but if a customer asks, you do everything you can to keep them!

puppymouse · 29/11/2018 22:47

I've paid £20. Which I'm prepared to lose to make the point. Don't really want to embarrass friend but she's woman enough to deal with it I think.

mycatistoo · 29/11/2018 22:48

Cancel for sure.

Kittykat93 · 29/11/2018 22:50

Yeah that's crap service and not a good first impression at all. I'd cancel too.

happinessischocolate · 29/11/2018 22:51

I wouldn't cancel you'll lose the deposit anyway so I'd just not turn up.

puppymouse · 29/11/2018 22:53

That's what my wussy side would like to do but I'm a better client than she is business owner. I refuse to be rude but I won't be made to look a fool for something like this.

OP posts:
Pecano · 29/11/2018 22:53

Will you save more than the £20 deposit with the deal? If so could you not cancel and re-book just to make a point?

I would probably cancel and go somewhere else though, but I suppose it depends how good of a deal it is

ifyoulikepinacolada · 29/11/2018 22:54

I run a small business and would never ever treat anyone like this. Definitely cancel!

puppymouse · 29/11/2018 22:54

The saving is £50.

OP posts:
TBDO · 29/11/2018 22:58

Huh, the owner refused to give you a deal that would still save you money if you cancelled, lost your deposit , and rebooked?

Definitely cancel and tell her why.

ThatOneHurt · 29/11/2018 22:59

Absolutely cancel.

PolkaDoting · 29/11/2018 23:11

Cancel.

Cherrysherbet · 29/11/2018 23:14

It’s very bad customer service. They should honour the offer for you. I hate to hear of small businesses doing things like this. It shows lack of experience and business sense.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 29/11/2018 23:16

Is it botox? If it is only go to a researched practioner

SandAndSea · 29/11/2018 23:45

I would cancel.

brizzledrizzle · 29/11/2018 23:47

I'd cancel too.

trojanpony · 30/11/2018 00:20

Cancel x10

SylviaAndSidney · 30/11/2018 00:23

With everyone else, I’d cancel.

RCohle · 30/11/2018 00:26

Yeah I'd cancel. Or cancel and then rebook using the deal because you'd still save money doing that even taking into account losing the deposit. Really short sighted of the business owner.
