This cropped up in conversation earlier and I was looked at me like I have two heads. I can't be the only person that hasn't started shopping yet? The lady I was talking to has done all of her shopping and most of it is wrapped.

YANBU everyone should just do Christmas the best way for them!
I finished shopping ages ago (started in March) but that’s because we’re getting married at the weekend, and then have DS’s first Birthday the weekend after so December this year is unbelievably busy and needed to be very organised.

Sorry QueenoftheNights for annoying you but I have no idea what you are talking about.Confused

Your title should be, "AIBU to not of have bought a single Christmas present yet?"

Yanbu. I've already made a really good start for once, thanks to Prime. But usually any shopping before December always seems early!

xJessica · 29/11/2018 16:31

bartholinssister that made me laugh!!

Zoflorabore · 29/11/2018 16:36

I've started early ( for me ) and began last week. I have 2 dc. I prefer to do it later as I would lose track of what I've bought. I have done a list of what I've bought so far and for the first time am internet shopping aswell as shopping in person.

The worst was the year I was pregnant with ds who's now 15. Me and exdp both worked for the council and got paid on 23rd December and I did it all in one day, 7 months pregnant in torrential rain.
That was tough.

Whenever we buy the presents doesn't matter as we still don't wrap until a few days before. Need to get more organised Grin

cosytoaster · 29/11/2018 16:37

I haven't got anything yet, I get later and later each year. I just can't be bothered with the whole faff of it anymore Grin

Jjacobb · 29/11/2018 16:37

Mines all done and mostly wrapped.

Yanbu if that what works for you.
I have six children so lots to do, but the main reason I get it done early is so I can enjoy December. We love to visit Christmas markets and have several parties and nights out planned.
I want to enjoy the festive atmosphere without worrying about what I haven't bought yet.

I remember 2010. As well as the gift delivery crisis, in the run up to Christmas my entire family had flu except me. They were still ill on Christmas Eve, but miraculously much better on Christmas Day. There was snow on the ground and we went sledging which felt fantastic after days of being cooped up. The only gift I can remember is the two kilner jars we filled with Jelly Beans as a but of fun for each child. I've never seen their eyes open so wide. And they spent a happy hour or two sitting about 500 jelly beans into bowls of different colours, just for fun.

There's a lesson in there somewhere about not stressing too much because the things you remember will probably not be the things that seem so important right now.

SaucyJack · 29/11/2018 16:40

I’ve done a fair bit. I’m tight/thrifty so I prefer to get stuff half price or 3 for 2 in the November sales rather than waiting to pay full-price for it the week before Xmas.

tomhazard · 29/11/2018 16:56

Course not. You have 26 days that's ages

Dongdingdong · 29/11/2018 16:59

I'd think it was way more unusual if you had started shopping already to be honest. I don't start my Christmas shopping until around December 10th!

OkToday · 29/11/2018 17:16

Thank you FourFuxxakes for explaining, I was educated abroad sorry didn't mean to offend anybody.

FFS as soon as I saw the thread title I knew you were going to get a lecture on the English language, OP.

Just ignore. Some people actually feel superior about this shit and pull strangers up on the internet about it Hmm

OverwateredCheeseplant · 29/11/2018 17:29

I bought my first present today. I can’t bear to think about Christmas, my grandmother is dying and I just can’t be doing with it.

Restingbitchface101 · 29/11/2018 19:28

I've got everything but that one elusive Paw Patrol Marshall figure to fit in the Paw Patroller. It's either out of stock or 1billion$ from EBay!
Not impressed.

MumW · 29/11/2018 19:32

Well if YABU then IABU too. More worryingly I also have no good ideas what to give anyone, or what I want myself!
Me too.

madmum5811 · 29/11/2018 19:36

I forgot still waiting for an e mail to say a couple of things are back in stock, after selling out two months ago. Slow boat from China, then customs to get through I suppose.

PumpkinKitty82 · 29/11/2018 19:38

We start quite early as it just evens out the cost abit and yes I’ve started wrapping 😳 but I’m not as bad as my sil.. she sent us bloody Christmas cards yesterday , it’s not even December yet!
