This cropped up in conversation earlier and I was looked at me like I have two heads. I can't be the only person that hasn't started shopping yet? The lady I was talking to has done all of her shopping and most of it is wrapped.

I have but only because my 3 year old is finally old enough to be excited so I want to make sure I’m organised! Still have the majority to do though. I wouldn’t want Xmas presents hanging around for months on end.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 29/11/2018 15:08

I haven't started either. I am also away every single weekend until christmas. I get 40 minutes for lunch during work. I have given myself one lunchtime per person. If I havent' got them anything in that 40 minutes then, well-- tough, they're getting something. A few people I know what I am getting them and will get online but when I don't know I need to be in a physical shop to get inspiration.

BartholinsSister · 29/11/2018 15:10

I ofn't either.

madmum5811 · 29/11/2018 15:14

Anyone remember 2010, it keeps popping up on my FB page. All those lovely Amazon parcels were stuck in sorting offices for a fortnight or more here it was -1.8c ten years ago today. Luckily I had a 4x4 so managed to get to sorting office, was also giving neighbours lifts up the hill because their cars had slid into hedges, etc. Since then I have been more organised time wise about online shopping. Apart from the turkey to be honest our local coop was over run with vegetables and no queues. It is only a roast for heavens sake, with a light starter and xmas pudding, one of the easiest meals to make.

FourFuxxakes · 29/11/2018 15:22

BartholinsSister
I ofn't either.
😂I wondered if anyone would comment!

Anyway, we have bought two. We had an amazon voucher for £50 so that got a gift for each child. They're getting a book each with the whsmiths vouchers they won at school but they haven't arrived yet and then will get something else small from us, though we haven't decided what that will be yet.
We won't be buying anything for anyone else.
We're only doing a meal for the 4 of us so that won't take much organising. We already have the steak and the sprouts (in fact they've been boiling away for a few weeks now. Fingers crossed they'll be ready for Xmas day...) so just have a few more bits to get.

Cheeeeislifenow · 29/11/2018 15:23

Snap..and I give no shits..I'm sure it will come together eventually.

OkToday · 29/11/2018 15:29

I've done it all and wrapped it, it's in the locked 'broken' bathroom. In my defence my DS will be in hospital until a couple of days before Christmas and I work full time and have 3 other DCs to look after so getting stuff done was the only way to stop me shrieking hysterically in a corner somewhere.

onemouseplace · 29/11/2018 15:45

I'd done nothing until this morning, now I've done around 40% of it. And I've reserved my Sainsburys Christmas delivery slot.

I'm normally in the camp that refuses to start before December - but I've found that stuff gets delayed or isn't in stock, so I'm trying to get ahead.

irregularegular · 29/11/2018 15:56

I haven't. I normally would have done some, but had a bereavement six weeks ago which has pushed everything off and I've not done anything about Christmas.

I'm not worried though. We don't buy for that many people and the less time I have the less time I will faff around.

I will start to think about it this weekend as memorial service is now done so i can focus on something else.

irregularegular · 29/11/2018 15:59

It's bonkers to have not got anything, with only 26 days to go!

I disagree. I think it is absolutely fine and has some advantages. Present planning and buying can definitely be overdone. It's OK if you want to get ahead, but it really isn't necessary for most people in normal circumstances.

irregularegular · 29/11/2018 16:00

I have booked my Ocado delivery slot though!

glueandstick · 29/11/2018 16:01

Done most of it (we don’t buy a lot) because the toddler wanted to go shopping and choose things and I wanted to avoid it being too busy for them.

Just a couple of bits left and then all done.

tobee · 29/11/2018 16:02

Pp seem to be firmly in camp or another.

Any predictions as to what year the shopping streets and centres will be deserted because most will be doing everything online? Not sure if that's a good or bad thing? 🤔Probably bad.

Hermagsjesty · 29/11/2018 16:03

I never start until December. Have started making lists though.

Oblomov18 · 29/11/2018 16:06

Ds's only ask for say 2 presents. So it's not hard. I've bought 4 so far.

Bunnymumma · 29/11/2018 16:08

Just did all mine in one hit, online. Can't be dealing with the faff now I'm 20 weeks.

Oysterbabe · 29/11/2018 16:10

I started yesterday, bought DDs main present and a stocking filler. I'll just Prime everything within that next couple of weeks. No need to go out foraging like a caveman.

PiperPublickOccurrences · 29/11/2018 16:11

Have done a bit. Really couldn't care less about Christmas. Would be delighted if it were a once in every five years thing.

Oysterbabe · 29/11/2018 16:11

If anyone wants to tell me what to buy my husband that would be great. He doesn't need anything, it's massively fussy and I don't have a single idea.

SimplyPut · 29/11/2018 16:12

I have one gift to buy then I'm done. Still waiting for deliveries and need to wrap everything 🙈.

QueenoftheNights · 29/11/2018 16:13

You are being annoying @okaytoday for not knowing the difference in English usage between 'of' and the verb 'to have'.

TheBaltictriangle · 29/11/2018 16:17

I've sorted 3 people out & have got another 5 more to buy for and then I'm done. Christmas is very low key for us as we're more New Year celebrants.

Villanellesproudmum · 29/11/2018 16:18

I only have 3 people to buy for, one I hate, one who eats anything and one who has a list. Happy days, only one left to get.

OvO · 29/11/2018 16:19

I’ve started, and almost finished.

I have to be organised as I stupidly gave birth to all my babies in November. Eejit! So I have to spread the cost a bit.

I like to have very few present left to buy by December so that I have some cash left for days out or fairs or that sort of thing.

It’s easy to leave it all until the middle of December if you’ve got a lot of disposable income (or only buy 2 presents and a satsuma).
