To think I'm the only person who can't wear secret socks

itwasadarkandstormy · 28/11/2018 22:59

Just this. I see friends and colleagues put them on and slip their shoes on, no issues. I put them on and they've slipped off by the time I've got my heel done!

Is there a secret that I don't know about, or am I just really bad at socks?

I can get them on, but as I walk around, they creep down into the shoe and I end up with them under my instep.

I can't wear trainer socks either. 😢

hotsouple · 28/11/2018 23:02

I can't either. I'm convinced it's a special gene, like being able to roll your tongue. That or our beautiful, soft, smooth feet don't grab onto the socks like their grubby, calloused feet. (except my feet look like shit.)

InspectorIkmen · 28/11/2018 23:02

Oh those bastards 😂 Is that what they’re called? No - I can’t make them work either. Useless fuckers.

OnlyToWin · 28/11/2018 23:03

Felt the same then got a fab pack from Next with a little gel thing at the back and now I am enjoying secret sock living. I presume you mean “trainer socks” that make it seem like you have bare feet, otherwise I am talking rubbish!!

CantsitWontsit · 28/11/2018 23:04

No! Me neither! I have wide stumpy feet, I always assumed that was why. I would love to wear secret socks! All day! Comfortably!

magoria · 28/11/2018 23:05

The short ones slip off my feet too. So bloody uncomfortable. I have to buy proper ankle ones.

FromageRay · 28/11/2018 23:10

Yes to PP who mentioned Next ones, the little silicone dot keeps them in place all day. Have tried other brands but they all disappear underfoot!

WTFIsAGleepglorp · 28/11/2018 23:13

I've spent loads trying them all.

Gel heels, gel soles, gel ribbing, gel, no gel, thick, thin and every fucker in between.

Same thing. They bunch up under the instep and I end up with feel like smooth pebbles in my shoes....

GunpowderGelatine · 28/11/2018 23:13

Do you mean pop socks?

dottycat123 · 28/11/2018 23:14

Marks and Spencer ones stay put.

Skatersbeskating · 28/11/2018 23:15

I found some. I genuinely fucking
found some, after reading on here.

Primark lacy ones. They have a fab rubber grip. They have not pinged of AT ALL.

I have tried loads.

popcornwizard · 28/11/2018 23:16

I buy mens size with the rubber bits on.

RedPandaFluff · 28/11/2018 23:17

This thread made me giggle 😁

I have these as well Halo

MissingPanda · 28/11/2018 23:34

I get mine from Primark. Mine have little 'pads' under the ball of the foot and gel things (technical term) on the back to stop them coming off the heel. They're £2.50 for a pack of three.

Ollivander84 · 28/11/2018 23:36

Mine are primark too, I wear them every day for work

Ginxed · 28/11/2018 23:36

Another vote for the Primark lacy ones, the grip is amazing.

magentastardust · 28/11/2018 23:37

Primark ones are what you need. They have lace trimmings and a silicone bit so they never slip off.

itwasadarkandstormy · 28/11/2018 23:37

Well, why am I paying Levi's shitloads of cash for no gel pad?

OP posts:
JennyHolzersGhost · 28/11/2018 23:39

But then they show above the edge of your shoes anyway, surely ...

UpstartCrow · 28/11/2018 23:39

I tend to find the dry skin on my heels keeps them in place Envy

Nonotmenori · 28/11/2018 23:42

Vans socks stay up. They're a fiver a pair, but very good quality and worth the money.

itwasadarkandstormy · 28/11/2018 23:45

I'm in the US. No Primarni here

OP posts:
HighsandLows77 · 28/11/2018 23:58

OP i usually get a bigger size in those type of socks too, helps to stay on

MixedMaritalArts · 29/11/2018 00:22

I’d try hairspray on foot then pop the sock on. Gymnasts use hairspray to keep leotards from riding up. Some fashionistas use it on thighs when sporting a slinky skirt.
