Aibu to not comprehend how it can be possible that newborn baby Stanley Davies, who had been in hospital on 3 occasions with broken ribs and limbs (if I am reading the reporting correctly) was sent back home with his parents and not removed from them by Social Services? I just cannot fathom how that could happen.

Someone is guilty of failing massively in their duty of care here (I refer to the professionals, not his parents). Unless any more knowledgeable Mumsnetters can explain to me how this might have happened?

I said it on another thread when a baby was murdered, there needs to be more opportunities for people to hand over their babies, and get a bloody financial reward for doing it. Not great social policy but if a thousand pounds will part you from your baby hand it over.

If there's going to be a financial award for anything relating to reproduction - why not for sterilisation?

(Not that I think that this would be a simple solution to anything, either - but stopping babies being born into abusive homes would be better than allowing sone idiot women (or their abusive partners) setting themselves up as "baby factories" to cream cash out of the system.)

People don't murder their babies because they can't afford to keep them, or because it's too hard to hand them over to foster care. Financial incentives for babies would be
State sanctioned child trafficking and would just lead to poor and desperate women having babies for the payment and the care system groaning at the seams even more than it is now

The thing is there is more of a financial advantage in keeping the baby. would this pair have been housed if there wasn’t drink/drugs and a baby involved. He probably had his own flat as probably did she.
