Smug bastard parking war thread

We live in flats with resident only parking paid for as part of our rent, signs are up clearly stating this.

We live near a school and the parents are a nightmare. The school was built after the houses before anyone says not to buy near a school.
We are often late for work as we can't get out of our spaces for parents blocking the car park entrance and when coming home from work we can't get in our own spaces including disabled residents.
School and Psco have been involved because of the abuse we face.

A particular parent from the local school is horrendous though. We have nicely spoken to him and explained that it is only residents car park and he says he didn't know and then parks there at night again, he parks up to people's front windows in their carpark space and refuses to move. His friend was blocked in by a resident and he threatened them that they better move.
His latest game is to pull up to windows park blasting his radio. He thinks it's funny.

Due to the set out of the carpark and the fact that one of the buildings is a local businesses which has two spaces for staff use only so we can't bollard it. We could put individual bollards in but that wouldn't stop the cheeky fucker parking in the business space as the business is currently empty so no one to enforce and blasting music. Many of us have babies and work nights so he is waking people up , he's stopped disabled residents from being able to park and he doesn't care.

Perhaps strategically place a screw behind his tyre so he gets a puncture.....

billybagpuss · 27/11/2018 16:29

I'd second the barrier idea, or in the short term co-ordinate with your neighbours that the car park entrance is barricaded daily by one or other of you until he gets the message and gets used to parking somewhere else.

Carwars · 27/11/2018 16:30

No management company. It's a private landlord with a letting agent.

We have been told we cant barrier the entrance. I am not entirely sure why as the business spaces are for staff parking but deliveries for the business used to use the space also.

Can he be done for noise from a vehicle if it is after 7am and only for short periods?

Find a big guy with a big van to come and block him in.

InvisibleLlama · 27/11/2018 16:33

Can you put up an officious looking sign about "Private Parking - you will be fined £1000 or clamped"...

YearOfYouRemember · 27/11/2018 16:33

Lots of good ideas here

Carwars · 27/11/2018 16:37

Can you put up an officious looking sign about "Private Parking - you will be fined £1000 or clamped"..

There's one of those signs up.

If everything is documented could it not be harassment/nuisance once the list gets longer? Especially this bit 'he is stopping disabled people from parking'. Surely someone, somewhere must give a shit about this.

Sounds like hard work OP. Do you have any rugby player type friends, or know anyone that does?

Miscible · 27/11/2018 16:47

If the business space is currently empty, is there anything to stop you putting a chain across at school delivery and collection times? If or when the business is occupied again you could talk to the owners about keeping this going. Alternatively, put bollards in your space and something to obstruct access to the business spaces.

HomeMadeMadness · 27/11/2018 16:49

I would definitely start to document it and create enough evidence to claim Anti-social behaviour.

Needsmorebeans · 27/11/2018 16:57

Wasn't there someone on here who looked into it all legalwise and charged the person for parking in her space by sending a bill? Cant remember how it was done but it was effective and the parking stopped

Schlecky · 27/11/2018 17:00

The school can't just say they can't do anymore about it. As a previous poster said they can get a member of staff to stand in the car park and stop parents parking in it or blocking it etc. Every morning and night it's not difficult for them, not every single school member of staff is needed during school drop off and pick up times. Keep going to the school and complaining. Keep taking photos and videos and reporting. You have to be persistent or you'll get responses like the school gave "sorry can't do any more" they can but you need to be persistent. Also you all need to start blocking him in. By now particularly with the music thing I would already have damaged his car, sorry but I would!

footballmum · 27/11/2018 17:02

I think this is a situation where social media is your friend. Video him parking, include his reg plate, post it on local Facebook page, Twitter, tag school, local police etc. Basically make as much noise about it as possible. I suspect someone will get involved just to avoid the embarrassment and publicity!!

Carwars · 27/11/2018 17:03

A chain might work while the business is empty. We tried using bins to block but they move them.

Needsmore
That sounds interesting!

Start a residents whatsapp group and work together to block him in one day. Properly - for hours!!!!

Bleurgh0 · 27/11/2018 17:04

There was a thread on here a while back where someone said that a person blocked her in every day on the school run. One night she followed them in her car, when the blocker got to their house she blocked them in. Then she went for a walk for a few hours. When she got back to the car they came out of the house to see who had blocked them in, when they saw it was the lady they'd been blocking they couldn't really say anything. They never blocked her in again.

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/11/2018 17:13

I think you will need to go through every legal avenue possible. This is a nuisance person, who is having fun with pisssing you off. Document and complain to the police to establish a pattern.

Jaxhog · 27/11/2018 17:15

he threatened them that they better move.
This should be a case for the police, as it is threatening behaviour.

he's stopped disabled residents from being able to park and he doesn't care.
This is also an offence.

His latest game is to pull up to windows park blasting his radio.
Many of us have babies and work nights so he is waking people up
Report him to environmental health at your local council. Record the noise and note the time of day, and that you have repeatedly asked him to stop.

HSMMaCM · 27/11/2018 17:16

If you have a sign up about clamping, then can't you borrow a clamp from someone and clamp him? (I have no knowledge of clamping laws)

A chain across the entrance that someone from the school can put up for each school run, or that you can put up after he parks, with a lock on that only residents have a key/code for.

Dotty1970 · 27/11/2018 17:18

Post it notes all over it

TaighNamGastaOrt · 27/11/2018 17:24

This happens a lot at my dc school. It's dreadful, school and parking wardens are useless. Local vigilantes have got so sick of it, they've started putting nails, tacks etc on the residential street the school is on . This has happened several times this year and works for a while.
Not suggesting you do this, it's a bit extreme but then so are the parents. Sky van man hits parked cars regularly, the Pocahontas creature in her louboutins parks her range rover across people's drives so she won't ruin her shoes.
It's an ongoing battle sadly. People are entitled twats.

bofsy1 · 27/11/2018 17:27

I lived in a development some years ago that was private property, run by a management company (for which we paid A LOT!). Allocated parking for the residents and some visitor spaces too.

Similar situation, all and sundry came in and parked where they liked.

Then management company introduced a key fob system and installed a gate at the entrance. No fob, no entry.

Visitors could be fobbed in to the visitor spaces by the residents. Clamping of chancers with no visitor card too.

Also, if anyone failed to pay their management fee, no fob issued.

Stopped illegal parking by twats overnight really.

Is there anything like that that could be installed at the entrance shown in your lovely diagram?
