I’m desperate. Nothing is staying down, all I can do is drink water to make it burn less when I am sick.
I’ve been prescribed anti sickness tablets but I tried all three pharmacies yesterday and they all had to order in. The earliest I could get that would be Tuesday.
I just want to eat something or drink something that won’t feel like fire coming back up. Or better yet, have something that will stay down! Please help with any magical home remedies I can send DP out for to get me through until tomorrow.

I'm 16 weeks and still throwing up so is love some tips too! Seabands work a little bit, for me.

Hisashiburi · 26/11/2018 11:35

You poor thing. It's so horrible. I found cream crackers and fizzy water helped as the bubbles helped me burp which lessened the nausea. try to avoid rich and fatty foods too

steff13 · 26/11/2018 11:35

It's not a remedy, but I find that dairy products burned less on the way back up. Milk or yogurt would for me. Do they sell Preggie Pops there? They helped me a lot.

ohhelloitsyou · 26/11/2018 11:37

Seabands!! Thank you I will ask him for a pair of those. I will try fizzy water.
Lilt and sniffing a lemon helped a lot with my first even for a few seconds but this time it’s not doing a lot

They have anti nausea drops but I think you have to order them online. I’m hoping for something DP can buy in Tesco that will be my saviour here

Which tablets have you been prescribed? I had a nightmare getting Ondansetron and in the end the local early pregnancy unit gave me a box to tide me over until a local pharmacy had mine delivered. Might be worth asking your EPU if you are really suffering.

steff13 · 26/11/2018 11:40

Candied ginger? It, ginger ale is good for nausea.

fourcorneredcircle · 26/11/2018 11:41

Icelollies and this thread got me through. They are pregnancy sickness experts and have all the tips and advice you can imagine.

Oh yes! Ice lollies! Not too strong/acidic flavour though.

Seeline · 26/11/2018 11:42

Drugs were the only thing that helped me so hopefully you'll see an improvement once you get them.

A bit revolting, but I found that if I has a few mouthful of food, I would throw up straightaway. If I then carried on eating immediately, I could sometimes keep some of it down.

Dry Rice Krispies were my go-to - weren't too bad coming back.

Maursh · 26/11/2018 11:43

Grapefruit

Puggles123 · 26/11/2018 11:43

I found eating something lying down before getting up in the morning helped a little bit- and eating just small amounts but fairly often. All I could manage for a while was salt and vinegar crisps and mars bars; can’t stand the sight of them now haha! Sea bands also helped, but I find they become less effective when worn all of the time, so I took them off at night and for a few hours during the day.

sirmione16 · 26/11/2018 11:43

I lived off ice pops and plain pasta for the first 13 weeks basically

Perren · 26/11/2018 11:44

I had food that was hard to vomit Confused pizza etc

ohhelloitsyou · 26/11/2018 11:55

Ginger is not my friend unfortunately I learnt that fairly quickly.
I will be trying the ice lollies. I’ve seen someone online who put Gatorade into ice cubes and that helped apparently so I might try that if we can get some as well (assuming they’re not caffeine filled drinks etc)

I'm feeling you.

[TMI WARNING:] In June I had weird sickness and stomach pain, turned out I needed some intestines removed and the sickness from that surgery and the recovery was absolutely awful. I was constantly being sick and threw up anything I swallowed... Including my contraceptive pill... So now I'm 17ish weeks pregnant and just starting to feel human again after over 6 months of feeling terrible.

All I can say is, don't force it. Don't worry about eating healthy, just eat whatever stays down and makes you feel better. The best thing you can do is snack constantly (when you can manage it) so even if you are sick, you might have managed to keep something down over the course of the day. :)

Snappedandfarted1 · 26/11/2018 12:18

Ginger biscuits and lucozade worked for me, and also a handful of dry cereal whenever I was feeling nauseous.

CaveDivingbelle · 26/11/2018 12:20

digestives, plain Pringles...

sonandhelpneeded · 26/11/2018 13:52

Oh you poor thing @ohhelloitsyou! I second the have something before you get out of bed!

Also is it possible you're having twins... I understand that can lead to increased nausea?

DahliaDiver · 26/11/2018 13:54

Poor you, it’s awful. Lemon sanpellegrino and ready salted crisps were all I consumed for 18 weeks.

EverythingsDozy · 26/11/2018 13:56

This might be a little gross, but weetabix is the same going down as it is coming back up, so if it does come back up, it isn't so nightmarish. I used to get my H to go and get me weetabix before I even moved in the morning.

MaMisled · 26/11/2018 14:06

Another vote for ginger biscuits and lucozade. I lay on my sofa from wk 6 to 13 with DC2. I didnt even phone work to say I wouldn't be coming in anymore. DC1 was 3.5 yrs and im still apologising now hes 25! I couldnt get out of bed over Christmas and didnt care! The biscuits and lucozade helped when i absolutely had to function though. Feel tearful remembering how awful it was.

RoboticSealpup · 26/11/2018 15:09

Just had some Lucozade and it really hit the spot! Has to be really, really cold, though.

bsbabas · 26/11/2018 15:42

Ginger biscuits or tea drink or eat them before you feel sick and helped me soo much my midwife gave me an extra large bottle of gaviscon also no spicy food!

Stressedoverkids · 26/11/2018 15:44

Porridge and Barley soup are good if you can stomach them as they aren't acidic.
