I’m desperate. Nothing is staying down, all I can do is drink water to make it burn less when I am sick.
I’ve been prescribed anti sickness tablets but I tried all three pharmacies yesterday and they all had to order in. The earliest I could get that would be Tuesday.
I just want to eat something or drink something that won’t feel like fire coming back up. Or better yet, have something that will stay down! Please help with any magical home remedies I can send DP out for to get me through until tomorrow.

Sucking a polo mint at pretty much all times really helped me.

yumscrumfatbum · 26/11/2018 15:44

I found being tired made my nausea and vomiting a lot worse. Rest as much as you can

ohhelloitsyou · 26/11/2018 15:46

DP came home with bad news from the pharmacy. There isn’t anything over the counter they will give me because it will pass through the placenta. Understandable.

I’ve been sipping on an isotonic sports drink for the last 2 hours. He brought back some cereal which I don’t have the heart to tell him that my stomach has decided it doesn’t want anymore. I don’t seem to have any cravings this time around which is annoying because my cravings were my saving grace last time.

The problem is I still feel sick but now I’ve had something fruity I’m a bit scared of bringing it back up... I cannot wait for my medication tomorrow.
We are fairly certain on the no twins front. We had a scan last week and they could only see one sack and couldn’t even see the the yolk. The scan was to be certain it wasn’t ectopic but now I have to go back to make sure there is something growing. I’m hoping all this sickness is a sign that there is. I had the same with DS about 7 years ago but I didn’t get anything until about 5-6 weeks so this baby will probably be monster sized or something haha

Thank you for all your advice and suggestions please keep them coming.
Fingers crossed for all you lovely ladies struggling with this too that you get some relief soon Flowers

awww myyy people!! i fell ya!!

im the same, i find sometimes cold wet things help for a while, like melon, yogurt, icelollies.

Find rice very easy to bring back up (gross i know) but its my go to when i KNOW i need to eat and also KNOW im going to chuck it up lol

I seen on another thread pregnant ladies being prescribed ranatine and/oe omazaprole (or something spelt similar lol)

I had extremely bad acid reflux problems before pregancy so i am struggling BIG TIME. have an appointment with the doc soon so am hoping he can give me something.

LordPickle · 26/11/2018 15:52

Sea bands, ginger tea and ginger snap biscuits were the only things that helped me. Good luck OP, the constant nausea is awful.

SallyMischievo · 26/11/2018 16:04

Weak lemon squash and ready salted crisps. And bizarrely McDonald's McMuffins and cheeseburgers Blush

SoSobored · 27/11/2018 14:39

Sorry for the grossness but when I was having my DS my gp told me "it won't stop - you just have to make sure its bearable when it comes back up". Sprite, plain crisps and ice pops were what got me through. Being overweight helped though because I lost 2 and half stone in 17 weeks!

hellsbellsmelons · 27/11/2018 14:42

Orange juice ice-lollies and sugary tea got me through the first 7 months of pregnancy (and any other times I've not been able to eat)
I bought the stuff to make homemade ones as they worked better but even shop bought ones were OK.
I was like you OP.
Nothing worked. Everything came back up. Even water.

ichifanny · 27/11/2018 14:49

Eating I know that sounds strange but if I could force toast down I felt much better and made sure I wasn’t letting my stomach get empty so little and often

puzzledlady · 27/11/2018 14:57

Odansetron is very strong but the only thing that helped me - and I tried the whole lot. I had HG until i was about 7 months.

AGirlinLondon · 27/11/2018 15:13

Another one for Seabands - and making sure I had food on the bedside table so I could eat immediately - before I was properly awake. Nibble of a protein bar (I found special k protein bars helped a lot), oats or dry crackers.

I was at a two week conference in America weeks 6 and 7 of my pregnancy. Nobody knew. It was hard.

AGirlinLondon · 27/11/2018 15:13

...though obviously if you think you’ve got HG, make sure you get some help

Louise856 · 27/11/2018 15:29

I never tried this when I was pregnant as I hadn’t heard of it but apparently sniffing an alcohol hand wipe can work wonders! Worth a try! I found drinking iced water helped (had to be full of ice) and crisps. Seabands also helped a bit. If it continues then try acupuncture.
It’s so hard, feel for you!

Oct18mummy · 27/11/2018 15:30

Accupunture it was a lifesaver

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 27/11/2018 15:31

Get them dispensed from your local hospital or mat unit.

LadyBundleBrent · 27/11/2018 15:49

Urgh I feel you. Not throwing up but constantly nauseous and have a cold (thank you toddler) and a stomach bug on top of it. Finally crumbled today and took most of the day off work. It's horrendous and I won't be doing it again...

Just wanted to message in solidarity. It isn't easy and I hope some of the tips on here work for you. Eating little and often is the only thing that works for me..

Good luck everyone!

danishkids · 27/11/2018 18:53

Eat before you even get out of bed, just a few crackers or busicuits. Just getting up and going to the kitchen ruined my day. It’s iften my husband would jump out of bed before I sat up and would give me breakfast. Eat what you feel like. And drink Coca Cola

wobblywindows · 27/11/2018 21:51

Tesco do a nice ginger preserve (like jam) which I had on plain toast the other morning (no butter). Maybe rehydration salts would help? They are what you give children when they are losing liquid too fast.

StepAwayFromGoogle · 27/11/2018 22:04

Fizzy drinks with loads and loads of ice, sipped through a straw. Coke for me with DD1, peach juice and fizzy water with DD2.

ittakes2 · 27/11/2018 22:06

Green and blacks chocolate worked for me. Still does. Not sure why but I had twins and was nauseas a lot. Couldn't even ride in a car without vomiting.

Shoppingwithmother · 27/11/2018 22:08

Salt and vinegar crisps, especially Discos. Sherbet lemons. Oranges. Acidic things basically for me!

YeOldeTrout · 27/11/2018 22:09

Keep fluids down as a priority.

My unintentionally sarky but truthful reply to title Q is reaching 16 wks or having the baby. My stomach went lactose intolerant in all pregnancies. Realising that meant I could avoid the foods most likely to send me puking. I could eat pizza by end pregnancy (cooked cheese loses most lactose, someone told me).

You can get a lot of calories in fluids so I would happily sip on those if they stay down.

lookingatthings · 27/11/2018 22:17

I suffered horribly for 22 weeks. Everything I ate came back up on me. My dr prescribed me omeprozol as I'd been on it pre pregnancy and it's been a total life saver. No vomiting whatsoever. If your sickness is a result of reflux (does it happen after eating?) it could be an option for you.

Esssa · 27/11/2018 22:28

Seabands and sucking pickled onion monster munch. Mini chuppa chups were good for when I was out in the supermarket.

WereAllBladesArentWe · 27/11/2018 22:41

Rice cakes. Heavenly.
