To think the doctor just can't leave me like this?

I'm suffering from Pvcs and PACs (premature beats) I've had a Holter Monitor but the time I got that it was a good day.
Now I'm having thousands of these a day.
Sometimes every few beats.
I feel my heart pause then a massive thud.
I've had no sleep last night as they were happening every few minutes.
The doctor says they are benign and won't kill me.
I can't live this way.
Today I'm exhausted and the beats are happening all the time.
The doctor gave me beta blockers but I'm sure that's caused more extra beats.
The doctor won't do nothing else.
I don't know what to do now.
My life is not worth living with these.

I'm hoping that eventually if I can get my anxiety and stress down they will decrease to a few here and there again.

They are so addictive for this reason.

Wolfiefan · 27/11/2018 11:19

They won’t give you more of them for a very good reason. You need to find better ways to cope with the stress and anxiety. Maybe ask for help with that.

Lougle · 27/11/2018 11:32

I take it you mean your ectopic beats? I think that's very feasible. You can overcome this, but the first step is by 'faking it until you make it.' You are going to have to do some positive self-talking. You are going to have to say things to yourself that you actually don't believe to be true yet, so that you get to a place of believing them.

It's a bit like the Indiana Jones moment, when he steps out into the gap. The ledge is there, he knew it should be, but he had to step out before it appeared. You have been told you are healthy, you know you are, so you have to believe it before you'll feel healthy.

beerandwine · 27/11/2018 13:21

I've been into town today for two hours.
Looked round the shops, got some Christmas presents.
Ectopics were happening every 7 beats but just got on with it.
Gonna have to keep doing it daily till I get better.

Doing what? You need to address the anxiety.

PookieDo · 27/11/2018 13:25

I use a lot of distraction reading and listening to pod casts

Lougle · 27/11/2018 13:45

Well done! That's great.Smile

beerandwine · 27/11/2018 13:59

I got back sat down and started googling if my heart would race without a beta blocker (haven't took it today ) and then my heart started to race
It's beating 104 bpm
It was normal 65 bpm till I looked up racing heart

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/11/2018 14:08

beer stop!

How do you know it was every 7 beats?

How do you know your bpm?

WHY do you know!

You are NOT distracting yourself, you are obsessing about it! Just stop! It is exhausting just reading how much you know about your heart rate/beats.

You sound almost as though you are revelling in it! That isn't a healthy way to deal with it.

Healthy distractions won't include counting anything, checking anything. Just keep busy, never just sit and think about it or measure it.

ApricotCrush · 27/11/2018 14:18

First of all, well, done for going out, you're sounding much more positive today.

But... don't stop taking the beta blockers, you've been given them for a reason. Your heart rate will go up.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 27/11/2018 15:36

Of course your heart rate will increase without a beta blocker, that's the whole idea of taking them

BitOutOfPractice · 27/11/2018 15:43

OP it's really hard, when you're in the middle of it, to believe that your very very real physical symptoms are caused by anxiety. I know that because I've had the same disbelief.

But it IS your anxiety that's causing this. You are anxious about your heart which, ironically, is making your heart palpitate which is making you more anxious and then you're in a vicious spiral.

You need to address the anxiety. Honestly. That's what the cause is

Runnynosehunny · 27/11/2018 16:02

The fact that the diazapam stopped the problem really points to it being stress/anxiety related. As soon as your anxiety was reduced and you relaxed the problem vanished. Now you need to look for ways to reduce the anxiety.

Wolfiefan · 27/11/2018 17:31

You are obsessing. This won’t get better until you get help and tackle the anxiety.

hippipotamiwantstoloseapound · 27/11/2018 17:58

You are hugely obsessing about this. That is feeding the anxiety. The anxiety which is causing the beats.
Please, please stop. This is no way to live. See the GP for anxiety. Distract yourself. Go for long walks, have baths, read books, take up knitting. Anything. Just try to get off this crazy treadmill your brains has you on. It is holding you hostage and ruling your life.

Cohen admits lying for Trump. Trump making statement now.

Basically, Cohen is lying for a reduced sentence.

Scrotus: "I didn't do it. But if I did, it wasn't wrong. But I didn't. But I could have and it wouldn't have been wrong".

So full of shit it comes out both ends.

Nixon redux. "If the president does it isn't illegal".

Oops wrong thread!

KatieB55 · 29/11/2018 16:32

POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia) is often misdiagnosed as anxiety.
