The dreaded toilet dream

Hands up, who’s had it, how much damage occurred? and do you find it happens when you feel particularly anxious or is it strictly random?

Oh I have the desperate for a wee but all the toilets are gross dream all the time, glad it's not just me! I once walked round for ages trying to find a usable one, found it, sat down and just before I started realised I was on one of those display ones in b and q, so stopped and then woke up. Thank god for subconscious I suppose!

I have pregnancy dreams quite a lot. Often pregnant with something odd, like kittens.

And I can hear them meowing in my tummy.

I had a toilet dream last week, never thought it could be connected but I am very stressed atm - moving house, just submitted MA coursework and waiting for result, trying to balance v busy work schedule with uni and DD, plus planning Christmas with recently separated family.

Dreamt I desperately needed to wee but was running round and round looking for somewhere and when I finally found a toilet at the end of a long dark corridor, DP was sat on it! Woke up desperately needing the loo but thankfully didn't wet myself!

I dream this fairly regularly. Filthy toilets, usually in a hotel or shopping centre and all lack privacy. Never actually need the loo when I wake up. I also dream the mobile phone thing. I think it's the modern version of a childhood recurring dream where I kept trying to run but couldn't move properly.

I don't drink within 2 hours of going to bed and I always make sure the last thing I do before falling asleep is to pee.

Haven't pissed the bed since one random toilet dream as a teenager, and that made me paranoid for life.

Whenever I'm poorly and cold in bed I dream I'm in cold water and decide to pee in my wetsuit to warm up! Have a lovely long satisfying wee then wake up in horror! It's happened three times, last time I even thought in my dream "no it's ok, I'm not dreaming!".

In my dreams the loo isn’t dirty but there are FBI type men just standing around.

I also have the filthy/toilet dreams.
OP I try valiantly to piss the bed in my dreams but I always wake up as I'm trying to squeeze it out. Its not alcohol related because I quit alcohol a year ago.

I have OP! Had many frustrating dreams of being bursting but unable to go for various reasons and remember feeling really triumphant when I conquered that subconscious barrier-til I woke up

Hahahaha my DH done this a few weeks ago. We were jetlagged after coming home from holiday and were napping. He dived up out the bed (scaring the shit out of me) shouting ahhhhhh fuck fuck fuck and ran away out the room.

Turns out he was having a dream he was dying for a piss and was trying to piss into a bottle and the piss went everywhere. And yes he had actually pissed the bed a wee bit. I found it halarious.

I've had the dream where I'm desperately needing to pee but can't find a toilet and being running into lots of rooms and finally find one and sit down on the pan then I wake up!!

Also have a recurring realistic dream than I'm just getting up and ready for work, I'm dressed and walking down stairs and doing my normal routine, then I open the front door to leave and then wake up like FUCCCKKK IM STILL IN BED (usually happens when I turn alarm off but fall back asleep lol)

@WierdHandDryers - I have the toilet dream quite a lot - maybe once a week - and on a couple of occasions I have actually started weeing - not recently, I’m glad to say.

Maybe I have just got better at waking up - and maybe doing all my pelvic floor exercises has helped a bit too - up until recently, my pelvic floor had all the strength and elasticity of a wet paper bag!

In my dreams, the loos aren’t dirty or manky, but they are definitely strange - no door, weird designs, or I keep looking and can’t find one - and then I wake up.

You lot on this thread are the first people I have ever told,this, apart from dh (who was very understanding), but I have decided not to name change.

I actually pissed the bed because of the dreaded toilet dream when I was about 9, and maybe once a little bit when I was a bit older. Since then I've been so paranoid I have to wee immediately before sleep, to the point of getting out of bed when I'm almost asleep even if I went 30 minutes before.

I also have the dirty/communal/no door/half a door toilet dreams and wake myself up just in time.

Same here. Dying for a pee but all the toilets I find are full to brim and gross, or have no privacy. I always wake up needing a pee. Also have the telephone dream where it's an emergency but I just can't get the numbers right. What's going on? Why do so many of us have the same dreams? It's very reassuring though.

I have those too. Also, as well as being filthy the cubicles are only waist height so when I sit down everyone else can see.

I have had the waist height cubicles too I've never thought it was to do with needing the loo though how very strange!

Does anyone get driving ones? Quite often I dream I’ve driving but I can’t reach the pedals or I’m in the passenger seat.

And the trying to catch a train/plane dream.
Much running up and down platforms etc.

I get a reoccurring dream that I can’t find the house keys to lock up before bed ... or I can’t remember if I did lick up or not so wake up wanting to check. That one is definately anxiety driven

I get the public loo with no privacy dream and trying to phone a number and failing one.
I also get the one when I'm at school/work and realise I forgot to put my skirt on 😱

I have the dirty or exposed toilet dream and the inability to dial a number one. I also have one where it’s twilight and I go round the house switching all the lights on but it doesn’t get any lighter, it’s so eerie and I hate that one.

I either dream.i cant fund a toilet or cant use it or im desperate for a wee but not able to go thats when i wake up desperateley needing a wee., i also have a dream (usuallt when i have drank too much) that nothing will quench my thirst , and wake up needing a glass of water with a really dry mouth

@Grimbles and @DontCallMeBaby - I get the phone number misdialling thing a lot - I once worked with a very young woman who was very 'woo' she asked me about recurrent dreams and I told her about the phone calls (usually in an emergency where I can't get help) she was very 'aaaaaaaaaah I seeeeeeee' I said what? What does it mean? She was all - I can't tell you, but you will find out what it means in good time, when you're ready. That was about 30 years ago and I'm still none the wiser

I have a particularly awful dream where I visit someone and they have a pet lion. Massive full size lion, and I'm terrified but everyone else is just acting casual and ignoring it like it was a fluffy kitten.

The lion never takes any notice of me and sometimes brushes past and I daren't show fear in case people think I'm an utter wimp, but all I want to do is get out of there. Does this sound like and anxiety dream?

I came sooooo close to peeing the bed once. Thankfully I've got a little voice in my head that's looking out for lucid dreams (they're such fun!) and that got me woken up just before letting go.

I did this the first time my OH and I had sex.

We’d only had a meal date. Only one glass of wine so wasn’t drunk.

I dream to was in a bar with my friends waiting for the toilet and I finally got in a cubicle...woke up pissing my bed.

Tried to cover it my then ‘dropping a glass of water’ all over myself and then telling OH I needed to get the wet sheets off as id spilt a drink. Didn’t work though as he just said ‘you’ve clearly pushed yourself you muppet’ he laughed and that was it. Very embarrassing at the time.
