A couple of weeks ago a male colleague put up a load of posters of half naked women on the wall around his workstation.

He works on his own, a little bit out of the way so no one noticed for a while until we had some customers come in for a tour of the factory - our boss had a quick check round to make sure the place was tidy and saw them. Colleague was told to take them down. Colleague made a bit of a fuss but did take them down.

A few days later boss noticed he’d put them back up. Boss told him to take them down, colleague kicked up a fuss again but did take them down.

Yesterday boss noticed the pictures were back up again. Again, boss told colleague to take the pictures down and warned colleague that if he put the pictures back up again he’d be taking disciplinary action.

Colleague had a huge tantrum about these bloody pictures and then left. He hasn’t turned up for work today - not rung in or anything, just failed to turn up

I cannot fathom why someone would a) think these kind of posters are appropriate for a workplace in the first place, and b) get so angry about your boss telling you to take them down that you’d walk out of your job

Of course us women are a ‘bunch of snowflakes’ and ‘you can’t say or do anything these days without causing offence’ - when it was our male boss who noticed the posters and told him to take them down anyway Hmm

Madness!

Who wants to get a wee semi every time they go get their lunch?

The only semi I want with my lunch is a semi freddo.

He’s obviously deluded to the point that he thinks he’s bigger than the company. He’s picked a very odd issue to take a stance on though.

his poor wife and kids.

What a bizarre hill to choose to die on! Talk about picking your battles. He must be very out the loop if he doesn’t understand that most businesses nowadays wouldn’t allow those sort of images!

Also the post about someone peeing on the floor in protest, ew! And all you’d do is cause grief for the poor cleaner, not exactly sticking it to the Man...

It's just utterly bizarre. I worked in a factory environment years ago and there were lots of semi naked women pics. It took a couple of months but gradually they all got removed. Im back in a very similar environment now (hundred of guys working shifts). There isn't one dodgy picture to be seen at all. It's all completely changed. I can't imagine on what planet in an office environment he would think that's acceptable.

WrongKindOfFace · 23/11/2018 19:10

Why would anyone think that was acceptable these days?

Stickmanslittleleaf · 23/11/2018 19:36

When you say 'we' and 'they'- 'we introduced clocking in because they were taking the piss' etc do you mean there has been a takeover and there are all new management staff over longstanding employees? If so it could be that he's always had them up and is getting shitty because of that? Not that it's right of course, but if there's new management who change things some people do get defensive and 'who the fuck do they think they are'ish. Usually over the most petty stuff!

It's pretty clear who the snowflake is in this scenario.

Gone home for a cry and sulk. What a giant baby.

How bizarre
