A couple of weeks ago a male colleague put up a load of posters of half naked women on the wall around his workstation.

He works on his own, a little bit out of the way so no one noticed for a while until we had some customers come in for a tour of the factory - our boss had a quick check round to make sure the place was tidy and saw them. Colleague was told to take them down. Colleague made a bit of a fuss but did take them down.

A few days later boss noticed he’d put them back up. Boss told him to take them down, colleague kicked up a fuss again but did take them down.

Yesterday boss noticed the pictures were back up again. Again, boss told colleague to take the pictures down and warned colleague that if he put the pictures back up again he’d be taking disciplinary action.

Colleague had a huge tantrum about these bloody pictures and then left. He hasn’t turned up for work today - not rung in or anything, just failed to turn up

I cannot fathom why someone would a) think these kind of posters are appropriate for a workplace in the first place, and b) get so angry about your boss telling you to take them down that you’d walk out of your job

Of course us women are a ‘bunch of snowflakes’ and ‘you can’t say or do anything these days without causing offence’ - when it was our male boss who noticed the posters and told him to take them down anyway Hmm

Madness!

Guy at my old factory had nuddy pics in his locker. Dirty bastard. Who wants to get a wee semi every time they go get their lunch? He was a right weirdo in general though.

Tinklewinkle · 23/11/2018 17:02

Ladies wearing very tiny, very see-through underwear in provocative poses

He’s been there for years and years, I think he thinks he’s untouchable

I dread to think what he tells his wife - I’ve met her several times and she was pretty unpleasant, made a few remarks about stuff (so for example, when we introduced the clocking in machine due to piss taking) so I guess he must lie to her about this kind of stuff

Gobsmacked that someone would think pics like that are acceptable in a communal workplace! Sounds like it would be good riddance to him if he didn't come back, though, so fingers crossed he does make this his hill to die on and fecks off (and takes his grotty pics with him).

MrsTommyBanks · 23/11/2018 17:10

Imagine being married to him. Doesn't bare thinking about.

FunkyKingston · 23/11/2018 17:11

I'd like to be a fly on the wall when this idiot explains to his wife and kids why he's not going to work.

Sorry everyone, xmas is canvelled as i wanted to surround myself with wank fodder whilst at work. I know having no money will be tough, but a line in the sand has to be drawn somewhere, but do we really wany to live in a world where you can't bluetac faded and curling pages from the inside of a bongo mag to your work station, where will it end? Think of me as the Rosa Parks of the right wrist.'

MrsTommyBanks · 23/11/2018 17:12

I thought this was going to be about having a wee on someone's gate

Why? Is there a news story I've missed?

NoFoxGiven · 23/11/2018 17:12

How old is he? Confused

morningconstitutional2017 · 23/11/2018 17:12

You say that this chap is pretty unpleasant and unhelpful in other ways - it sounds like this is the last straw that breaks the camel's back. He may well have been told off before this and be using it as an excuse to get sacked. How will he explain himself at the Jobcentre - why did you leave your last post?

I worked in a typing pool in the eighties and one of the ladies had a poster of a topless chap next to her desk. She was told to take it down - apparently a picture of a landscape was acceptable but not a semi-nude pic of a bloke's muscular chest. Obviously a woman would not be tolerated either. Dare I say - tit for tat.

Threewheeler1 · 23/11/2018 17:12

MrsTommy
Shudder....

BarbaraRoyale · 23/11/2018 17:14

Does he honestly thinks the boss will back down ?
he sounds very self centred

Here I stand, I can do no other. Lmao.

Needsmorebeans · 23/11/2018 17:19

Have you ever seen Michael Douglas in Falling Down? I think this is how this going to end.....

NinonDeLenclos · 23/11/2018 17:20

Is he always a tit?

Tinklewinkle · 23/11/2018 17:24

Think of me as the Rosa Parks of the right wrist.'

😂 LOL!

I’m not sure how old he is actually - mid to late 50 maybe

I think it’s an authority thing, with a bit of arrogance thrown in.

Boss is a lot younger and colleague doesn’t like being told what to do by a younger man/woman. Colleague thinks he’s indispensable as he’s been there years/is the font of all knowledge and it’s all come to a head and he’s lost his rag

@FunkyKingston I think I love you 😂

M3lon · 23/11/2018 17:24

sort of reminds me of the physicist that decided to tell everyone that its the men that are discriminated against in sciences using inaccurate bar charts and all....

I mean okay but really? What happened to make him think it was worth it?

1forAll74 · 23/11/2018 17:26

I once worked in an largish office years ago,in the 1970 era,and there was a guy there, who put several posters of the Playboy type of nude women up ,on the wall, near his desk. The other men near him, seemed to like the posters.

But one day, two young women there, brought in. as a joke really,,three naked men posters, and put them on the wall. Most of the guys were middle aged, and did not like the naked guy' posters,(well I did ha ha )

So that was the end of any posters in the office,as the office manager then took all the posters down, and said, only nice calendars can be pinned up from now on..

wafflyversatile · 23/11/2018 17:29

Maybe they were his only friends, his only comfort in the cold of an uncaring office full of hateful harridans. Sad

Tistheseason17 · 23/11/2018 17:34

If he likes these pics so much he should put them up at home.

Not for the workplace - what year are we in? 1973?

Tinkobell · 23/11/2018 17:36

He sounds like a completey sad bastard tbh.

DistanceCall · 23/11/2018 17:37

Brexiter-things were better in the 50s-men aren't allowed to be men anymore sort of person.

Rudgie47 · 23/11/2018 17:46

Sounds like hes self sabotaging because he wants to be sacked.
Some people just don't care or have lost the plot so much they cant think about consequences etc as well.

CaliHummers · 23/11/2018 17:46

I think it’s an authority thing, with a bit of arrogance thrown in.

I wonder if he's angling for a Daily Mail Sadface story. "It's OK kids. I got the sack but I made a brave stand and those nice people at the DM will make me into a hero".

Pimpernell · 23/11/2018 17:47

If he wants to be the noble warrior who sacrifices his career for the right to hang titty pictures up in his cubicle I say, let’s salute him and allow him make this glorious sacrifice.

He’ll probably be UKIP leader in 6 months’ time.
