In tons of pain all the time due to endometriosis. Recently my ovaries have been so bad I’m having to miss days of work and just cry from the pain. Doctors want to do a scan but not for another month I’ve spent all day at work crying the pain is worse than anything and there’s nothing more I can take. I’ve had dreams all week of cutting my ovaries out Aibu to go.

Just given more pain killers to take daily 😭 and the scan doctor booked me in for isn’t showing on the system:(. I’ve been waiting 2 weeks for the letter 2nd time she promised to refer me for a scan.

You're not going to get a scan any quicker by going to A&E, it doesn't work like that.

What painkillers have you been given?

Grilledaubergines · 22/11/2018 18:45

Do you have an out of hours GP service?

Paddington23 · 22/11/2018 18:46

I didn’t want a scan at a and e just sucks to find out doctors been telling you that your booked in for a scan and to wait for leter and you haven’t even been referred. I’ve been given more codine Incase I run out but there not as strong just been told to basically take codine 3 times a day and to just keep taking it.

OP posts:
Paddington23 · 22/11/2018 18:46

And no out of hours just a and e just got home and I’m crying in pain waiting for partner to get home

OP posts:
Bombardier25966 · 22/11/2018 18:47

What are you wanting A&E to do?

Paddington23 · 22/11/2018 18:48

I’m so fed up of the constant pain started having to go private with some specialist doctor hug and £250 each appointment I can’t afford to see him until the new year really. I’ve also found out that there’s and endometriosis clinic in the next city but I haven’t ever heard of or been referred and I’ve been with this for 6 years

Hey OP, my partner suffers with Endometriosis and is on Oramorph 4 x a day and that doesn't touch the pain. What scan are they wanting to do? My partner had a ultrasound - showed no endo, had a laparoscopy and it showed endo everywhere. If you haven't had an laparoscopy - push for one.

Know a lot of people on here will say don't go to a & e. But if you are in that much pain, please do go!!

DailyMailWankers · 22/11/2018 18:50

Flowers op I had terrible endometriosis when I was younger and the pain is horrendous. 3 babies later and I would honestly put it on par with childbirth!

I went to AandE with it once and they gave me really strong painkillers and I managed to get some sleep. If you cant get to the out if hours gp then go in xx

WhoTookTheCookie · 22/11/2018 18:51

You'd more than likely be referred back to your GP for an ongoing condition causing pain unless it's suddenly gotten worse.

I don't think A&E is the right place.
You have my sympathy, endo pain is the pits.

A wheat bag, hydrocodone, co-codamol, naproxen and hot baths when I could manage were the only things that settled me enough to have a semblance of normal life.

Could the GP refer you to the pain clinic? Mine wouldn't prescribe anything stronger than co-codamol until I had been seen there.

Softpebbles · 22/11/2018 18:52

A scan won’t show endo though will it. I have had lots of scans but Endo only picked up when I had a laparoscopy. I presume they are scanning to see what else it could be? I would ask to be referred to gynae.

Conseulabananahammock · 22/11/2018 18:53

Ive had oramorph, solpadol, tramadol and coedine for my pain from adenomyosis and post ablation sterilisation sydrome and none of it even touches the sides. The pain is worse than child birth im my opinion.
You just need to keep pushing gps and putting your foot up their arse til they listen. Im now on the waiting list for a hysterectomy after 3 years of issues.

DailyMailWankers · 22/11/2018 18:55

It took me 5 awful years to be diagnosed. They saw the endomitriomas clearly on an internal scan and started me on GNRH analogues which causes an artificial menopause while the endo hopefully dies off. 9 month period free it was bliss despite the hot flushes. It worked for me I managed to get pregnant straight after and have never had any issues since (3 DC in 4 years)

Paddington23 · 22/11/2018 19:00

I’ve had a scan they removed it all or so they say I’ve had an injection to stop periods and stop it growing back but I’ve still having periods. I didn’t no where else to go as no out of hours been crying and nearly being sick due to my ovaries with a completely new pain that I’ve never had before felt like ovary was twisting.

garethsouthgatesmrs · 22/11/2018 19:28

if you are in that much pain you should go to a&e you can't even know for sure that these symptoms aren't something else

Too many peoole on mumsnet fancy themselves as protectors of the NHS and arm chair doctors. please do go

Wasywasydoodah · 22/11/2018 19:33

If it’s a new kind of pain then YANBU to go to A and E. I had an ovarian cyst causing twisted ovary and had to have emergency surgery to get it removed. A and E was the route in to that. Go.

RayRayBidet · 22/11/2018 19:41

If you are in so much pain of course you should go. So sorry OP, I don't have endo but have a lot of trouble with other issues and wish I could just have a hysterectomy.
Hope you get some relief

Paddington23 · 22/11/2018 20:32

No relief can’t take another day of work but will probably have to although I hate calling in sick I feel so guilty

OP posts:
garethsouthgatesmrs · 22/11/2018 22:45

i hope you are at a&e.

Paddington23 · 23/11/2018 07:23

No got sent home with more codine lower strength than the one I normally take and told to keep taking it to get rid of the pain

Been in crippling pain on and off all day could barley make it round Sainsbury’s

OP posts:
OneStepSideways · 24/11/2018 21:38

I have severe (stage 4) endometriosis and have been to A&E twice, the first time they just gave me morphine and kept me until the pain settled a couple of days later. The second it showed a ruptured chocolate cyst and free fluid so I was in for a week. I had a laparoscopy and they removed another cyst and lots of adhesions, and diathermied as much endo as they could. The pain is still chronic but much better than before, and sex is less painful. I have tramadol and codeine on prescription to use when needed.

The only time these meds aren't enough are the first two days of my period, I can barely function due to pain and have had to miss work a lot. I asked my gynaecologist for stronger meds for those 2 days and he said nothing stronger than tramadol is available! Posters who take oramorph and/or other stronger meds did you have to get a private prescription?

Schlecky · 24/11/2018 21:49

Sorry but "could barely make it round Sainsbury's" if you're in that much pain and going to a&e why are you traipsing round Sainsbury's?! I have no idea how it must feel but i have had a baby and suffered horrendous labour pain due to induction. If it's anything like that you have my sympathy. Please keep pushing for further treatment and the right referrals.

You need to phone your consultants secretary to chase up appointments.
