To think this was WRONG!

I’m working late 2 nights this week so Wednesday and Thursday DH Is collecting the children and making their tea. In the fridge are the following: a bag of spinach and cheese tortellini, a carton of fresh pasta sauce, some sausages, broccoli and new potatoes.
I got home last night to find he had cooked the sausages and chopped them up and added them to the tortellini and pasta sauce.
Is it just me, or does anyone else see the problem with that?

I think there were two seperate specific meals there. Not any more!

I don't see a problem with it - sounds lovely. Why didn't you just tell him what he needed to cook if you're that bothered about it?

Ladymacmuff · 22/11/2018 19:51

It was a bit silly of him but he probably thought he was being s good cook and jazzing it all up! Master chef invention test?!

Anyway, busy here too so a meal of potatoes / broccoli and any other bits scavenged from the fridge or freezer like fish fingers or cheese or beans doesn't sound like too bad an offering in the end!

Wouldn't you use a different type of sausage though for a veg & gravy meal or a pasta meal?

bourbonbiccy · 22/11/2018 20:19

Sounds fine to me. I needed to use up sausages and threw them in my tomato pasta, DS loved it. If your DS can't cook, I wouldn't expect to him to be thinking of meal planning.

Completely off topic but what sausages are good for a pasta meal?

sizeofalentil · 22/11/2018 21:16

My DH would have done the same as yours - and phoned for a pizza the next day.

This post has actually made me irrationally angry with my DH for no reason. Might ask him his thoughts on it and then pick a fight over the response.

Any bog standard sausages. Slide a knife under the skin and take it off then cut them into chunks with a pair of scissors and pan fry the little sausage balls. We had it this evening stirred into tomato and chilli sauce with some roasted cherry tomatoes, wilted spinach leaves and a little feta.

What meal did he make out of the broccoli & pots, Op?

I'm surprised how many would add sausage to filled pasta tbh.

I must admit I've never ever thought "oh what this tortellini & sauce really needs is some sausage".

Not sure that it's entirely wrong, Op-but it's certainly not right imoGrin

I couldn’t get excited either way. If he’s cooking then surely he decides what to,use? I can’t imagine he comes into the kitchen to supervise ingredient choices when you cook.
