Soup is the meal of the devil

That's if you even believe it to be a meal, i don't but apart from that the noisy slurping off the spoons, the swallowing sounds that seem to accompany only soup somehow, the drips falling back into the bowl, the sucking the noodles if they unfortunate enough to be a part of this hell hole. To make things worse its eaten by those that are ill so you have all those irritating sounds of sniffling etc. AAARGGHH!

I like soup but too much gets a bit boring. I also don’t like it as a starter, too filling

MrsTommyBanks thank you for that - I use the Covent Garden receipe in their book (which are much nicer than their cartons) and add bacon but no cream - is also yummy.
My family's favourite from the BBC website is the curried chickpea but I whizz everything up properly give a really thick soup which is just more filling/comforting at this time of year.

HowOftenDoYouClean · 23/11/2018 19:28

Bum they were sucking liquid off a spoon making a noise to me that warrants slurping, besides i dont consider soup eating Grin

That sounds lovely. I will do that next week.
Have also put the book on my Christmas wish list.

Bad soup is fucking awful, but good soup is wonderful. I want soup now.

YANBU
Liquids are not food. It's a chunky drink at best.

PussGirl · 23/11/2018 20:10

I disagree with you OP - I love soup of all kinds. If you came round to mine, though, I'd not make you eat it.

I'm sure the Devil wouldn't like it, BTW - the wetness would douse his hellfire for sure Grin

Slurping is horrible though, I agree.

Years & years ago STBXH & I were travelling to see friends for the weekend & mentioned on the way that we hoped it would't be soup for supper, as they were terrible slurpers.

We arrived late (this was always going to be the case, after work on a Friday then a 4 hour drive), so they had laid on a simple supper of bread & cheese & (very delicious, homemade) soup.

Slurp, slluurrrppp, SSSLLLUUURRPPP! It was dreadful, truly.

We struggled not to piss ourselves laughing (especially me, at 35 weeks pregnant & then cracked each other up all weekend by making little shhllupp noises.

Soup is not food.

I'm going to make a delicious carrot and red pepper soup today. Made one last week, it was lush - even DD wolfed it down. Soups are SO easy to make. My favourite is 'vegetables that are going to go off soon' soup. Blend em up with onion, garlic and stock, pop in a tablespoon of Philadelphia and bingo. Dinner.

TheFairyCaravan · 24/11/2018 07:25

I love homemade soup.

DH was out to lunch yesterday, I've been poorly all week so I made leek & potato soup in my soup maker for dinner. It was lovely and there's enough for lunch today, too.
