To make a complaint about Hermes delivery driver?

I was sat in my living room watching tv and saw a man walk past my window Hmm then I heard a loud banging noise which scared me half to death. The man then posted something through my door.

Turns out he didn't bother to knock and just decided to throw my parcel over the side gate! Then post a slip saying 'sorry I missed you'.

my front door is in my living room he Did not knock at all. I actually watched him walk past my window!

Luckily the parcel wasn't broken but it was in a big cardboard box so could have contained anything. It had a remote control toy car so luckily that didn't break.

Why go through the effort of posting a slip and walking further to throw the parcel over the gate?

Aibu to complain about this? It made me really annoyed and can't see any logic to it at all.

My hermes driver opens my front door n shouts up that its there (i live in a flat) . He uses my name (i dont know him) and i cant decide if its weird or just being friendly. Thought he has taken thing up.stairs for me that were too heavy. By the sounds of it, he probably didn't have time for it but still did it anyway.

My secure place is apparently my wheelie bin on bin day :/

I'm not sure if there's a number you can complain to as technically the contract is between Hermes and the company you bought the car from. I would definitely let the seller know what happened as if they use Hermes often, it's likely someone is going to complain about receiving a damaged item. They are a shoddy company though and I will never use them to send parcels. Last week I received a parcel via Hermes where the package had clearly been opened, part of it stolen and then resealed. When, the seller resent the replacement package, part of it was stolen again and the courier had just shoved the open parcel through my letterbox before running off to his car.

The banging noise was the person shoving the parcel over the gate and the box crashing onto the floor. I understand they have a time limit but is it too much to ask for them to knock on a door? That would have been quicker than what he did.

I can't seem to find a number to contact them on either!

Waste of time complaining to them in my experience. One courier repeatedly threw things over my fence into my pond. One of their couriers stole from me on cctv and another forged my signature before opening the box and removing the object and leaving the empty packaging behind. Both times Hermes would do nothing. A friend recently had a parcel stolen by a Hermes courier who lied and said the item was returned to the depot when they had clearly kept it for themselves and again Hermes did nothing. AngryI now avoid retailers who use them.

If you make the effort to complain be sure to also send your complaint to the people you ordered the stuff from, as they're the people who chose to use Hermes and can choose to use someone different if they receive enough complaints.

I’ve had two just left on the front step in the last few days. One I was in for, saw courier rush up path, knock then immediately rush away.
Also had one with a card ‘your parcel is over side fence’. Which it was, but it wasn’t for me, it was for a neighbour 2 doors down. That one did piss me off, because they were obviously just using my not so secure safe place to deliver someone else’s parcel expecting me to deliver it.
It must be a shit job though, so I just try and avoid sellers who use them rather than complain.
