I have been a sahp for years now, my self confidence was at zero, but we need the money and I knew it was time I got a job.
I have been on a training course to update my knowledge and have applied for about thirty jobs with no luck.
Anyway, I had an interview this afternoon, and they called just an hour later to say I got the job!
I am ridiculously excited Grin and can't wait to get started.
I will be a support worker for adults with disabilities and/or MH issues, and will be actually making a difference to people's lives!
Shamelessly bragging here Blush but after almost 20 years of not working, and being rejected by McDonalds Hmm among other places, I am buzzing Grin

I know it's been a while, but today I did my first shift in the new job.
I was only able to shadow someone else, but I got involved, did what I could, stuck it out for over 11 hours, and can't wait to go back Grin
I have to do various training bits and bobs, and shadow for a while until I get sorted, but I am so pleased with myself, and feeling positive for the next steps.
Thank you all for the good wishes, I am honestly not sure I could have summoned the courage to actually go without you Best of Vipers supporting me!

So happy for you. Put a smile on my face Grin. It's such a great feeling when you get that call back. Congratulations OP

Congratulations! So glad you enjoyed your first shift. Its a hugely important job you're doing, and your positive attitude about it will shine through to your clients who kbow you're there because you want to be, this will have a really positive impact on them too. Well done!

Notgotajarofglue · 26/01/2019 01:25

Well done! You sound perfect for it 😁

I made a new friend, aged 97! who (after giving me a good telling off for "fucking smirking"!) was thrilled because I got her "The Big Fish" for lunch Grin and was viciously assaulted with pease pudding and savoury duck at tea time. I walked about 20000 steps and sweated at least a stone off in weight, and enjoyed every minute Grin
