But my neighbours are on Age Gap Love tonight on C5.
He was her step father ffs!!!
But they have kids!!
AIBU to think that if you have kids in such a fucked up relationship you don't draw attention to the fact that your relationship is fucked up!?

Well I just watched it and they came across as a very odd couple to me. The Canadian ones with the similar huge age gap, while I didn’t really agree with it, at least seemed like a proper couple. The British couple just acted weird around each other and yes she came across as extremely immature.

As someone who was abused (to a degree, thankfully not as serious as it could’ve been) by my stepfather between 14 and 17, this makes me feel sick. How fucking disgusting. I can’t believe she didn’t have any support from her mother, she was a CHILD Sad although I didn’t either, so I guess it’s easier to believe your child is a ‘slag’ (her words, not mine) than believe your husband is a pervert.

Warsaw0912 · 22/11/2018 07:32

What are they like OP? Did you live nearby the Mum and stepdad or the daughter and husband (boak) - presumably they moved out of the area? Do they have kids? Envy

prh47bridge · 22/11/2018 08:36

Just to return to the subject of void marriages, some people may not understand the legal effect of that.

Let us assume that they did marry when she was 20, so the marriage is void. No criminal offence has been committed - it is not an offence to enter into a void marriage unless some other law is broken (e.g. incest or bigamy). The marriage is, at this stage, presumed to be valid. However, either of them can apply for an annulment and it would be as if the marriage had never taken place.

ConcreteUnderpants · 22/11/2018 16:39

Warsaw, apparently they have twins.
The interview with the mother is quite disturbing. A really fucked up family from the off.

ConcreteUnderpants · 22/11/2018 16:42

She says she doesnt fancy him anymore as he is grey and fat (seems to look as grey and the same weight to me)..wonder if the non-fancying is mutual. As well, she is a 28 year old mother now rather than a young teen....

ofgsWTF · 22/11/2018 19:48

Warsaw they're originally from a bit further away. They moved here just before they got married and they were married when she was 18. I don't know their family and to be honest I keep myself out of their way given their past. But they've got a bouncy castle business and I noticed that they're advertising him as a Santa that goes around to your house. That Facebook page has been closed down today.

.... I certainly wouldn’t want my kids sitting on his knee as Santa....

brookshelley · 23/11/2018 02:28

She looks like a child in that wedding photo. Disturbing.

Letsmoveondude · 23/11/2018 02:46

I recorded this and watched it today. They are very strange, and she is very childlike. There doesn’t appear to be any genuine like between the two, which was odd, given all the other couples seemed very much as though they enjoyed one another.

Notacluewhatthisis · 23/11/2018 05:29

Asked my Dp about this. His ex wife was older than him and he had a step daughter 12 years younger than him. She was 14 when he met her mum. She is now early 30s.

He thinks it's 'fucking disgusting and shouldn't be legal'. He can't be his head around how a man could do this. He is also confused as to why they would go on TV. I think the bloke gets some sort of sexual kick out of people knowing it's his step daughter.

Mummyoflittledragon · 23/11/2018 06:15

Ewwww. Just about to watch it now. I’m glad his Facebook page has closed down. Yes, this sounds odd, creepy.

ElideLochan · 24/11/2018 14:18

Watching it now

The lady from South Africa, who has left her daughter in SA - why does she need to be 'more settled' - shes married? been with him for 6(?) years?

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 28/11/2018 12:55

Just watching it on catch up.

The NZ couple seem awkward. Or rather, she seems confident and ok and he seems awkward and uncomfortable.

I absolutely agree with those saying how ‘young’ the bouncy castle woman seemed. She didn’t appear to be 28 at all.

The younger ones also seemed so immature too with their overly gushy cards and notes, like high school love notes. Embarrassing. Basically just a massive ego massage for the old geezers.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 28/11/2018 13:05

She looks so uncomfortable talking about when they met. It does sound like a failure on her family’s part to protect a vulnerable girl from a groomer. Instead, they’ve just blamed her and turned their backs on her. Shameful.

The Canadian girl. Hmm. TMI. Waaaaaay TMI

gross but their life
