I have mine tomorrow and am hearing mixed stories. Some say it is excruciating and others say its not painful.

I am feeling sick with worry!

So he unblocked one tube for me - one was blocked from a previous surgery. One was blocked with old endometrium.

Starting Clomid now to try an get one egg from the good side!

Mummyshark2018 · 21/11/2018 14:36

Mine was horrendous also, I had dye and balloon. Not advised to Tahoe painkillers. I wonder if it matters how blocked the tubes were in relation to pain? Mine were impassible which I think contributed. Hope it goes well for you. Seems like there are mixed experiences

ValidUser · 21/11/2018 14:53

By the way, worst bit of mine was the speculum!

Purpleartichoke · 21/11/2018 15:43

I forget was that the one with the balloon or the one with the dye. The balloon one was pretty trivial. Dye was uncomfortable until they got to a spot they had to push past with the dye. That was about 20 seconds of real pain.

For both tests I had cramping afterwards. Just enough to justify staying in bed and watching movies for the rest of the day.

JeNeBaguetteRien · 21/11/2018 15:49

I had mine and went back to work afterwards, no pain but it was uncomfortable as they tried several times to get the dye down one of my tubes and I had to get into all kinds of positions!
They could only confirm 1 tube was clear but I was referred for IVF so it didn't matter.
Hopefully it was okay for you and you might be one of the lucky ones who conceives soon after.

Mine was a few years ago and I remember being warned by a friend it was painful so I booked the afternoon of work.
DH left me chocolate, a hot water bottle, dvds and a duvet on the sofa and I felt a bit of a fraud as it wasn't any worse than period pain.
No blockages
For me the worse was the internal scan when they made me sit in the waiting room with the pregnant women and one lady moaning about wanting a private room after she had given birth. I felt like sobbing
.
Good luck LifesABeachCoaster. Both with the hsg and ttc Flowers

Well yesterday I was expecting a phone call to discuss results of a scan I had on my spleen due to pains I have been having and the JUST as I was about to go to reception for my HSG he rang and said they have found something under my diaphragm pressing against spleen.

He said he wanted to see me ASAP so had to go straight there. DP explained to HSG nurse and she said that I hadn't even been booked in due to an error so have to wait for next cycle. I couldn't have gone through with it anyway, I was having a panic attack.

Doctor said the ultrasound person said it looked like a harmless fatty lump but need to have a CT scan.

So extra worry for me then :(

Sorry that’s happening, how unexpected and stressful.

Hope you get the other tests done soon.

If “self care” stuff isn’t helping, might be good to consider seeking help with your mental health, I did this (I paid for counselling) and it helped. fertility and health stuff is so difficult.

I had my HyCoSy yesterday and had been so grateful for people sharing their experiences I wanted to do the same.

I was dreading it having read many horror stories. Diagnosed with Endometriosis and had been TTC for 12months was just ruling out any issues.

Procedure was nasty but end to end time was around 3 minutes. Was very grateful I'd taken painkillers and had my OH with me. Didn't get any Antibiotics though to prevent infection, should I have?

Much baby dust to you all xx
