Colleague had been coughing her guts up for over a month straight. It’s constant, it’s loud. It’s making everyone put in headphones.

She refuses to go to the doctors.

I coughed my guts up for 3 months once - at work, at home, everywhere. Turned out it was whooping cough. I went to the GPs and was totally dismissed.

So OP will you actually tell her to shut up or go home?

Obviously I wouldn’t say this. It’s the sort of thing you shout in your head after the 18th cough of the day.

I bet your colleague doesn't feel any better about it OP.

If your work is anything like mine people drag themselves in with all sorts because of really stringent absence procedures. Other people I know don't get paid if they are sick.

I've got a similar cough myself at present and it's horrible.

Thank you RB68. You have explained it better than I could.

I had this once. Nothing wrong with me. Just the very protracted end of a bad cold. I was cough so hard I would wretch.

I had a dreadful cough for over 3 months, I felt like crap and poor DH had to sleep on the sofa multiple times to get some sleep. I went to the Drs several times but apparently there was nothing wrong just a virus Hmm I couldn’t have been off work for 3 months!

The women who works at the doctors gives good advice 🙄 hope she isn't actually medical and just arranges the magazines and such like

It could be a bad chest infection, I had a cold that turned into that & was coughing so hard I was heaving/feeling nauseous every time for weeks. I gave in & went to Dr & it took a good 2 lots on anti biotic to shift. It could also be smoking related, smokers I know seem to get a cough that lingers afterward with every cold etc. There have also been lots of adverts that a cough lasting more than 3weeks could be lung cancer, so to get it checked by your Dr.
