DP is doing a roast dinner. And has par boiled and is now FRYING the potatoes. He sees no issue here. I'm 3 months pregnant and nearly cried.

AIBU to be devastated?

Frying potatoes - wtf

steff13 · 18/11/2018 18:31

You all don't eat fried potatoes? They're a breakfast staple here.

CrazyOldBagLady · 18/11/2018 18:31

My mum used to parboil then finish off in the chip pan sometimes. They were amazing.

blorgzorb · 18/11/2018 18:33

My other half did something similar to me at about 4 months pregnant. I was VERY ANGRY. I cried.

Isitsixoclockalready · 18/11/2018 18:33

Doesn't sound healthy but does sound tasty!

maddiemookins16mum · 18/11/2018 18:33

Just get him to do some fried eggs and bread and butter and that’s tea sorted 😊

GirlCroosh · 18/11/2018 18:34

Theres a time and a place for fried potatoes, a roast dinner isn't it.

I've never had chip pan roasties. This is shallow fried in a regular frying pan. With no seasoning Sad

And you let this man put his penis in you?!

LTB

Umbongointhejungle · 18/11/2018 18:37

I don’t understand
It’s harder work than shoving them in the oven!

SinisterClownWatchingYou · 18/11/2018 18:37

Don't really see the problem TBH. Roast potatoes are just big chips

Cherries101 · 18/11/2018 18:38

‘Roasties’ used to be deep fried at my school. Yummy.

Celticrose · 18/11/2018 18:38

I used to have these as a child. My mum would slice and fry any left over boiled potatoes. We called them saute potatoes and I loved them. Though not the same as roast potatoes especially done the Delia way that dh likes

Try before you decide! Yum

lynxca16 · 18/11/2018 18:39

YRBU - why cant you eat fried or roast potato when pregnant?

Is there a new rule out about this?

greyspottedgoose · 18/11/2018 18:40

He has been reading the Asda Christmas food mag, they look delish

ACatsNoHelpWithThat · 18/11/2018 18:40

They do this at some of the cheaper pubs and the greasy spoon type cafes that do roasts. So not unheard of but sounds like more of a faff to do it that way at home.

MollyHuaCha · 18/11/2018 18:41

When I returned from hosp after giving birth, my DH cooked a roast lunch. It was a frozen ready meal microwaved.

I think you've got a much better deal!

GirlCroosh · 18/11/2018 18:45

But but but it's not the saaaaaaame!!

Fried potatoes with Corned beef, onions and an egg on top. Yes.

With roast chicken, roast veg and sprouts?

lynxca16 · 18/11/2018 18:47

Sorry I only read your first post - try them and see you may love them.

As your DP is doing dinner I would sit back and enjoy.

Also remember praise works as better motivator rather than criticism for most people.

Sit back and enjoy being looked after.

Hoopaloop · 18/11/2018 18:49

DH must be some form of demented beast.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 18/11/2018 18:51

Eeww.

They need roasting in duck fat not frying 🤢

TheWickedWitchofWestYorkshire · 18/11/2018 18:54

To me it's a cheat's roast. Quick, fairly tasty, less time in the oven. I used to do the same with parsnips & carrots.

concretesieve · 18/11/2018 19:09

Fried/saute spuds are v nice. They are NOT, however, roast potatoes. LTB.
