To ask for your ‘nice’ dinner ideas?

So I’m on my own tomorrow night and I’m really looking forward to it!

Planning on drinking wine in the bath with my new book, and then cooking myself a nice dinner and watching tv in my pjs.

So looking for nice dinner ideas please Grin what’s everyone’s favourite?

Hardly dinner but I've got cheese, olives, nice crisps, crackers, pickled onions and a Spanish meat platter. I love picky bits if I'm on my own!! And a nice big gin! X

Pan fried sea bream fillet with butter, herbs and lemon with roast potato wedges, peas and ketchup. Posh fish and chips. Smile

louisaloo · 15/11/2018 19:44

Roast dinner with rice

GreenEggsHamandChips · 15/11/2018 19:45

If you put a kebab on a plate would that make it 'nice'?

DontTouchTheMoustache · 15/11/2018 19:49

I was just gonna have a normal night with whatever i could find in the cupboards for tea tomorrow but this thread has massively inspired me to make myself a posh 3 course meal and a bottle of fizz Grin
Screw the diet!

poppyseed2 · 15/11/2018 19:49

If I'm alone I don't want to spend lots of time prepping food, so it's usually either takeaway, a nice M&S ready meal or a quick pasta dish like carbonara.

And, of course, plenty of wine and chocolate!

Stubbornuincorn · 15/11/2018 19:52

Go for it @DontTouchTheMoustache ! I’m very much looking forward to mine now Grin

My family are into healthy eating so I enjoyed making myself a huge toad in the hole when I was on my own this week Grin. I love cooking meals that only I enjoy!!

EmUntitled · 15/11/2018 20:03

Go to Cook and get a meal from there, they are very tasty and most go in the microwave or just bung in the oven.

Another vote for lamb shank, easy to do in the slow cooker and so delicious.

Brummiegirl15 · 15/11/2018 20:06

Chicken Kiev (but a proper chicken breast one, not "formed meat") with skinny chips and a lovely salad.

But Camembert is also a contender!!!

mamaduckbone · 15/11/2018 20:15

A really lovely creamy mushroom risotto with loads of Parmesan. No one else likes it so that’s what I always cook if it’s just for me. A glass of wine, and something chocolatey for pudding.

LonelyandTiredandLow · 15/11/2018 20:22

I think I'd get a Thai Deliveroo - lots of steamed dumplings, noodles and maybe a lemongrass soup...Or duck pancakes...

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 16/11/2018 08:12

When dh works away (rarely) I have a dinner of a bottle of wine and taramasalata, feta cheese, toasted pitta and naice ready salted crisps.Tis heaven

wink1970 · 16/11/2018 08:30

I also cook something DH doesn't like. Usually fish or pasta with brocolli and a rich tomato sauce.

BarbaraofSevillle · 16/11/2018 08:59

Gambas a pil pil. Dead easy, quick and delicious.

Fry a pack of king prawns in some olive oil with garlic and add smoked paprika and a bit of chilli powder if you like it spicy. Serve with crusty bread to mop the sauce up and a bottle of cava.

rice on a roast dinner ?? shock We've already done that one at least twice this week.

Letsmoveondude · 16/11/2018 09:06

There’s a curry that only I like. So it’s treat central if I get to make it. It costs a load of money to make and every other person in the house tosses it around the plate, it’s the most comforting meal like, ever. And a huge treat because it’s made with loads of cream.

TheViceOfReason · 16/11/2018 09:18

Baguette with sliced rare fillet steak, caramelised onions, smoked cheese and BBQ sauce. Followed by Strawberry Cheesecake Haagen Dazs.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 16/11/2018 13:01

Pasta and a bottle of wine

JaceLancs · 16/11/2018 13:04

I can never be bothered cooking properly if eating alone so steak and salad, stir fry with king prawns
A decent quality butchers burger

Redken24 · 16/11/2018 13:07

Stewing steak, onions lots of chilli and garlic red wine beef stock pot cook for ages shredded the beef - yumm

justforareply · 16/11/2018 13:32

I'd have fish fingers and baked beans
Or a jacket potato with tuna mayonnaise

saj90 · 16/11/2018 14:38

TheViceOfReason ooooh yes!! I might make that tonight.

I normally make a fancy Mac & Cheese if i'm on my own as nobody else likes it. With wholegrain mustard and chorizo.

Or anything with Halloumi! Love this thread.

BinglyBunglyBoops · 16/11/2018 14:39

I would get a take away (something you love but no one else would eat), or an m&s dine in for a tenner, if they’re doing it.

anniehm · 16/11/2018 15:02

Just eat? Or just scrambled egg on toast, my personal favourite meal
