Or is this an unappealing chocolate flavour?

Cheese and cherry. To be precise 12 month aged manchego and tart dried cherry in 62% chocolate. Just why combine three individually delicious things into something unappealing? And only $7 for 3 oz (I’m in the US).

That sounds like migraine in a bar to me!

AwdBovril · 12/11/2018 19:25

Cherry in chocolate, absolutely. But cheese? No way, that's really weird. I would have thought, in addition to the chocolate / cheese clash, that many Americans wouldn't be keen on the cherries anyway. I was under the impression that dried fruit isn't really a popular thing over there? Hence their bafflement at mince pies, Christmas cake etc.

Holdingonbarely · 12/11/2018 19:26

American cheese at that Confused

SaucyJack · 12/11/2018 19:27

That sounds unappealing.... but Black Forest cheesecake is bloody lovely.

Who’s to say where the line should be drawn?

Pifflepoppycock · 12/11/2018 19:28

Manchego is Spanish btw.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 12/11/2018 19:29

Cheesy chocolate

Look there, I drew the line Grin

HopeGarden · 12/11/2018 19:30

Cheese?

I can see cherries and chocolate working well, but I’m struggling with the cheese concept!

Holdingonbarely · 12/11/2018 19:31

@Pifflepoppycock
Totally missed that for some reason!
Just had American cheese in my mind!! Which is the worst cheese ever made in the world

chemenger · 12/11/2018 19:31

We had chocolate with bacon in it last week, just for the lols. It was, at best, interesting.

I’m going to stick up for the US and say that it is easy to get really good cheese here, it’s not just Kraft cheese slices.

Trader Joe sells enormous bags of chocolate-covered cherries in the US.

chemenger · 12/11/2018 19:35

I’ve had absolutely amazing chocolate covered cherries from Washington state.

Sounds awful, but then again I thought milk chocolate with lavender would be horrendous and I was wrong.

Has a great dessert in Itsly once- White chocolate mousse, blue cheese, honey and black olives. Was fantastic.

Chocolate and cherry, yes.

Sounds absolutely rank!

I can’t be doing with all these newfangled flavours. Plain milk is best. Caramel or nuts I can allow. Anything else is pushing it. And what’s the whole chilli chocolate thing all about? Nope.

chemenger · 12/11/2018 20:24

I feel that maybe I should try it in the interest of science. Then if it is amazing some enterprising UK Mumsnetter can introduce it over there and cut me in on the huge profits. Or not. Anyway just off to see if they have it in my Wholefoods.

Cheese in chocolate?!
Why!?!

Also while we’re here can I just say I’d really love it if everyone stopped putting salt in my fucking caramel?!!!

AwkwardSquad · 12/11/2018 20:30

It’s not by Zotter, is it? Because their flavour mixes are amazing. Although I will admit I’ve not tried the more extreme ones...

JuneFromBethesda · 12/11/2018 20:31

Ritter, whose chocolate I generally love, makes a chocolate bar with tortilla chips in. This seems very wrong to me. (Although still preferable to chocolate with cheese in)

chemenger · 12/11/2018 20:33

I agree Donald I am sick of salted caramel too.

The milk chocolate with Ritz crackers in was quite moreish (think it was Cadbury Dairy Milk which I don't generally like).

Igneococcus · 12/11/2018 20:39

Milka does one with Tuc crackers in it and I love it, so do the children. Only ever seen it in Germany though.

Bezalelle · 12/11/2018 20:41

In China, cheese coffee is a thing.

BOAK.

Pifflepoppycock · 12/11/2018 20:44

@holdingonbarely
I can’t disagree with that. Ug. My mum is American and hates American cheese.

I’m guessing the cheese/chocolate/cherry is a play on the salty/sweet thing that’s gone horribly wrong?
