Asking for advise about using abortion pills at home

Please don't judge me! I had a baby 10 months ago, after a horrific pregnancy, sickness throughout in absolute agony to a really tramatic labour. I found out two days ago I'm pregnant and I just can't do this! My OH and I are not financially stable at the moment, he's just lost his job and I'm only back to work part time, we are really struggling to make ends meet as it is! I can't believe I've been so stupid!!!! I've been in contact with women on web, I was hoping someone would have some experience with this and can give me some advise.

Our Taoiseach (PM) campaigned for this in Ireland and stuck his head above the parapet citing the fact that we do in fact have abortion in Ireland as 1000s of women order online in unsafe circumstances (he's a doctor by profession). It's a choice that should be there for you. And you should be medically supported. Hold your horses and we'll see if we can find you a safe way to do this. I know given the circumstances that you don't want to leave it, but give us a day at least?

OP I’m in County Down if you’re nearby I can come and sit with you or drop towels and painkillers round or take your dog out for a walk if you have one, or bring some snacks. PM me if you’re near the gridlocked town that has a racecourse.

I have done this before

Very shocked to see how little people have, unfortunately Sad

OP I dealt with women on web last year and all went absolutely fine. For those that don't know, women on web are there for the women that live in a county where it's illegal to obtain of an abortion, and can not afford to travel to other countries

The pills came in a pack with notes and instructions from a certified doctor, and clear instructions on how to use them.

I had a safe home abortion. No bad side effects, didn't need to get medical help or anything.

Women on web were fantastic and helpful throughout, checking up on me throughout the weeks to see how I was

If you have any questions please message me. I had a medical home abortion last year. It was a somewhat easy, quick process taking up about 4 hours of my day. You take one tablet to 'kick start' the hormones that know you're pregnant, then you take the rest that take you through the process.

Make sure to buy lots of chocolate and new pjs. You'll be fine. Think of all the other women going through this everyday in Ireland, NI, and many other countries ❤️

For the record my experience was fast, and easy (thank god) and the whole experience was more like a heavy period. With some pain for about an hour and a little bit of throwing up. I was back to work the next day Shock but there you go, all went fine

Im in NI.. was prescribed abortion pill in hospital after my babies died at 12 weeks and sent home for things to take their course. It was traumatic tbh.. and i needed surgery. I hear the posters saying its normal business for women on web and thats as may be but i think if i were you id be using the services of the charities who work in this area and travelling for the procedure which (having also had d and c following miscarriage) was more straight forward with less bleeding afterwards. All the best though.. hugs. Xxx

BPAS also have a helpline for Irish woman self administering which I believe you can find on ASN website. I’d love it all the women on this thread who hadnt a clue about NI could drop their MP a line, and support the likes of ASN and Allience for Choice.

Semifeatured · 12/11/2018 00:45

I think the main thing is that the OP seems to have support from the websites she is on. All I will add again, is just say you're miscarrying if anything goes wrong and seek help from A&E. Much love to you and I'm so sorry you're going through this. x

@Clareb12345

I have done so. I'm also in NI and available until Wednesday night (out of the country Thursday onwards) if you need a real person chat

I am in Co Antrim and I drive

JoeyJoeyJo · 12/11/2018 08:24

Just to add to the posters up thread, OP I'm off work all week if you need anything IRL, please don't hesitate to ask! I'm in Belfast but can travel anywhere really.

Hi, I just wanted to close this thread by saying thank you so much to everyone that took the time to give me advise, show me support and generally settle my nerves, here and in private messages. Women on web were absolutely fantastic, received my package within 7 days, and completed with no issues at all. I know the situation isn't ideal at all, maybe I would have been a little less anxious if my GP could have supported me as in the mainland. It's not a decision I made lightly believe me, but it was the right decision for me and my family. So thank you all 💖

Just saw this thread now, glad you are safe OP.

JoeyJoeyJo · 24/11/2018 23:08

I'm so glad to hear everything has gone well, and I'm glad this thread was a good support for you. Hopefully things will change here soon.

If you are feeling up to it, the Women and Equalities committee in Westminster is currently collating personal stories about how the current situation is affecting women, it can be anonymous if you want. Alliance for Choice have made a form to submit, link here:
