To think this is cruel

I'm on my 38th cycle trying to conceive, 5th cycle of Clomid. I was enjoying having a chilled out cycle without getting my hopes up. Now period is a week late and there is no sign of it. Negative tests every morning.

I don't believe the devil so logically I know there isn't some malevolent force deliberately fucking with me, it just seems so unfair. I will start my period eventually, this is just delaying and increasing the suffering.

99% positive results on the day of the missed period, 7 days after you would expect to see even a tiny line, so it's clearly not going happen. Sick of shining a torch on another negative.

I'm aware I'm moaning in self pity, just had enough of this after 3 years. Due to start IVF in January and dreading it.

It's a horrible time OP and a cruel universe...

If it helps I was ttc for nearly 5 years, had 6 months of clomid and nothing. I gave up (literally... not "relaxed" like all those mythical friends-of-friends, I literally lost all hope) and the following month, 61 months in, I got a bfp.

And even then only on 6 of the 11 tests i took. (I bought one of every make i could find).

Massive hopes for you x

AliceScarlett · 11/11/2018 18:33

Really?? Does it? But its beyond faint, I know a line is a line but still...
No frer since the inverted one, I spent £11 on two BFN s of those this morning.

Hmm reading indent lines can show up on inverted pictures.

Soulstirring · 11/11/2018 18:54

I didn’t get results with FRER as early as I did with boots/Asda cheapies. I wish you luck!!!

AliceScarlett · 11/11/2018 18:57

@soulstirring it's madness isn't it!

Iris27 · 11/11/2018 20:02

Keeping everything crossed for you x

woodwaj · 11/11/2018 20:10

Good luck op. I had a line only I could see when I was on Clomid! That line has gone to bed 2 hours early and will be with me extra early tomorrow morning I'm sure!!

RedFallLeaf · 11/11/2018 20:38

Ohhh I'm sending you good wishes and prayers @OP xx

Candlelights2345 · 11/11/2018 20:44

I do not want to get your hopes up but I think the inverted looks positive, but the others don’t. I really hope you get a clear positive soon.

anotherneter · 11/11/2018 20:50

I think it looks like a very faint positive too. If you can try not to test for another couple of days (try and wait at least four days if you can) and then test again. I’ve been there so know what it feels like and it was shit. It felt like it would never happen at some points. So many times I would be late and do a test - only to get my period the next day and it felt like someone was playing some kind of cruel joke on me. Really hope it is positive OP x

Thehop · 11/11/2018 20:56

I’m not trying to egg you on it those honestly look positive to me.

My cloned baby showed up very late On a test and cheap own brand were better. Please keep us posted

HolidayAmaradillo · 11/11/2018 21:01

Oh opFlowers if it helps, internet cheapies and first response were absolutely awful for me, I eventually got a test from home bargains and it came back two lines so got the clearblue one with the cross and it was so obvious.
Flowers for you op

tor8181 · 11/11/2018 21:13

dont give up hope even though i know how hard it is

if i can get pregnant twice with no periods ever (37 and never had a period due to severe PCOS)than its defo possible

i caught at 23 naturally and at 30 after 4 years of using clomid
i was on fortnight scans and pregnancy tests every 2 weeks
a 2 for a pound poundland ones worked for me,it was a very faint line so i bought the ones that said how many weeks and it said under 4 and after bloods done it confirmed 2 and half weeks so when people say oh you have to wait 4-5 week or a missed period its defo not true in my case as 1st pregnancy was 4 weeks as sickness kicked in major as as we were trying i did a test

AliceScarlett · 11/11/2018 21:13

Thank you so much everyone.

I might go and buy as many cheap and different brands as I can tomorrow!

Good luck with your TTC. I just wanted to second a pp as when I did iVF it was nowhere near as bad as I'd read/have heard about. Tbh it was completely fine except a bit of faff going to appointments...

AliceScarlett · 12/11/2018 08:28

Spotting, negative. Sat on the sofa crying.

Feel so stupid for getting my hopes up. It's been three years ffs.

Don't want to put a face on and go to work. Urgh.

woodwaj · 12/11/2018 08:36

Sad don't go!! Have a duvet day. I'm really sorry

AliceScarlett · 12/11/2018 08:38

I can't let people down. Wish I could though.

I know it's illogical but I feel like I'm letting DH down. He says the opposite, but just feel sorry that he married a deficient one :(

Op I’m so sorry to hear what you are going through.

I had what was called a chemical pregnancy a few years ago, I was a couple of days late and ended up with a light period (just spotting really) which lasted about 2 weeks. I went to the doctors and they assumed that is what happened.

I also know my sister had fertility problems and was using chlomid, she has been pregnant three times, her first pregnancy with chlomid resulted in a miscarriage, her second pregnancy was successful on chlomid and her third pregnancy she was not actively trying.

When discussing chlomid with my sister she told me that her doctor had told her that it causes hyper ovulation and that even eggs that may not be viable are released, if those eggs are then fertilised it could result in a late period, chemical pregnancy or early miscarriage.

I would check in with your fertility clinic, as it sounds like you have had a chemical pregnancy, I know it does not feel like it but if you have, it’s good news as it shows that you are capable of getting pregnant, and it means that if a viable egg is fertilised you should have a successful pregnancy. I am not in anyway a professional in these matters so please speak to someone just to see what this could mean, as I could be wrong.

With my sister, it took a massive toll on her after having years of ttc and then having a miscarriage, she ended up really struggling when she finally got pregnant and was really anxious and worried during her pregnancy, she did seek counciling and she found it really helped, I would also say if you’re not already doing so to see if you can speak with someone, as I know from seeing my sister go through this that it’s so hard.

I wish you the best of luck for the future. Xx
