To think this is cruel

I'm on my 38th cycle trying to conceive, 5th cycle of Clomid. I was enjoying having a chilled out cycle without getting my hopes up. Now period is a week late and there is no sign of it. Negative tests every morning.

I don't believe the devil so logically I know there isn't some malevolent force deliberately fucking with me, it just seems so unfair. I will start my period eventually, this is just delaying and increasing the suffering.

99% positive results on the day of the missed period, 7 days after you would expect to see even a tiny line, so it's clearly not going happen. Sick of shining a torch on another negative.

I'm aware I'm moaning in self pity, just had enough of this after 3 years. Due to start IVF in January and dreading it.

I took Clomid once and it totally messed up with my cycle. Apologies if you have been through a controlled cycle and know exactly when you ovulated from scans etc., but if not, is there a chance you ovulated later than usual?

If not, and you are a week late, I would ditch the ICs and get a digital test. No peering at tiny lines in different lights (I have been there). I don’t know if the photo is an IC or not, but I can see three lines on it (four with the control line) so I am not sure I would trust it.

I went through years of infertility and several rounds of IVF so I know how difficult it is not to get your hopes up. Flowers

What does your fertility nurse say about testing? Mines would allow me to test until much later when on clomid. However, the month I got pregnant I had so many symptoms I did test pretty early (as I was either pregnant or I would have had a horrible bug) and the fertility nurse wasn't happy about it! Thankfully it was successful! ThanksThanks I really hope this is your shot!

swingofthings · 11/11/2018 08:28

Been there and yes very cruel. Happened to me even when I knew when I had ovulated so knew it wasn't late ovulation so in all logic, should have meant I was pregnant, especially with all the symptoms. Then learnt that occasionally you can get a cyst that continues to secrete progesterone hence no bleeding, high temp and symptoms. The cyst resolves itself and cycle back on track. Cruel nature.

Hope it will finally happen to you.

rhnireland · 11/11/2018 08:36

Ovulation tests can become positive again if you're pregnant. It might be worth trying one. I've been where you are and it's hell so you have my sympathies xxx

Scottishgirl85 · 11/11/2018 08:39

Life can be very cruel Flowers
For what it's worth, we have an ivf baby and the thought of the ivf process is a lot worse than the reality. Good luck xxx

I feel you, OP. Two and a half years for us, due to start IVF in January and for the first time in my life, I’m 4 days late. Of course the tests are BFN. I was excited for the next two because it means each one was closer to starting the process and now this has happened, my heads a bit of a mess.

After having regular cycles for years, shortly after ttc my period was two weeks late. I had negative tests so tried not to get me hopes up...but after two weeks I couldn't help feeling like it might be possible -

And ended up sobbing my heart out in a supermarket toilets when my period turned up.

Nature is a bitch, TTC is cruel and unfair.Flowers

Coolaschmoola · 11/11/2018 09:12

My sixth cycle of Clomid child is asleep next to me.

I have a photo of a test that looks exactly like that. I had three more the same, trying to see if it was ACTUALLY a line.

That was the Friday. On the Monday I went to clinic and got neon pink lines in seconds.

Looks like a line to me lovely.

OutComeTheWolves · 11/11/2018 09:14

Op I was unsure whether to post this as I know how cruel infertility is and I would hate to build up your hopes unnecessarily. However I also didn't get a positive test with one of mine until I was about 6 weeks pregnant. I've no idea why. Weirdly though I did show up positive on a ovulation stick (used because I had loads in the house & dh forbade me to spend any more cash on pregnancy tests after about the 15th negative one).

I also have a friend who is going through fertility treatment though and has been warned not to test too early as her specific medication might show a false positive if used at the wrong point in her cycle.

I know the awful feeling of just wanting your period to come so you can get cracking on the next cycle, so I'll just say I hope you find out one way or another very soon and I hope that you're ok.

crispysausagerolls · 11/11/2018 10:09

I found clear blue much more helpful and accurate than first response.

I suppose for some reason different people’s wee reacts differently with different tests!

Have you had a look at the TTC section? There's a lot of kind ladies over there that are in a simple situation to yourself that can offer support.

I know this is well-meaning, but I always think these sorts of comments sound like they are banishing OP from this board!

Sexnotgender · 11/11/2018 10:12

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Thesmallthings · 11/11/2018 10:17

I do see it, have tried taking one at night? I always seemed to get darker ones then.

You could go to the gp and ask for a blood test xx fingers crossed x

AliceScarlett · 11/11/2018 13:51

Thank you everyone for your lovely replies, it's really made the day easier.

I have no contact with the fertility clinic, they're impossible to get hold of. Think I'll ring tomorrow though. I didn't know you could ask for a blood HCG.

Some lovely hopeful stories here that have kept me going. I'm hopeful anyway do might as well not get down about it before I'm 100% out.

I'm just going to keep poas until something happens!

@moaningsickness A what an awful thing to happen :( I hope your username means that it worked out in the end for you.

Booboostwo · 11/11/2018 17:12

I am very sorry you are going through this. Cruel and difficult situation.

I have no idea if this is helpful but I missed a period, had a negative test, thought it was the menopause, missed the next period and had a positive test. I was 7 weeks pregnant.

AliceScarlett · 11/11/2018 17:23

How can it be like this yesterday (light levels changed) and nothing today?!

I would take that as positive, hopefully in the next couple of days you will get a very positive one xxxx

ThatOneHurt · 11/11/2018 17:35

I don't think that's positive that's just dye run.
The colour goes across the test. Not just in one straight line. Sorry.

I hope your BFP comes soon.

SpottingTheZebras · 11/11/2018 17:41

I hope you get a definite answer very soon. TTC is such an awful emotional rollercoaster.

mouthkisses · 11/11/2018 17:53

Are those all different tests? They all look like positives to me but I can imagine you want something more obvious. Fingers crossed for you.

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 11/11/2018 18:16

The inverted one looks positive also OP

JudasPrudy · 11/11/2018 18:19

Have you tried FRER again since that inverted one?

StartingGrid · 11/11/2018 18:22

Everything crossed you get a conclusive (and preferably positive!) result sooner rather than later
