To be disconcerted by finding a scantily clad young man in one of our beds

I came home this afternoon to what I believed to be an empty house. I went upstairs to eat a crafty bowl of icecream in bed. The spare bedroom door was open and a topless young man was in bed.
Aparently he is a friend of my sons. My son was out last night came home in the small hours. He talked to me at breakfast and make some brownies then caught a train to go away for the weekend.
I just talked to him. He says the other guy has left his car in a car park but cant go home yet as he is still over the limit.

Your son and his friend are sensible. I often wake up to an array of young people around the house. It is lovely. They are lovely.

sashh · 10/11/2018 04:46

half naked men, ice cream, OP this could be the start of a porn film.

giftsonthebrain · 10/11/2018 04:57

Ahhhh I remember those days; with 3 teens it did seem like I was running a b&b.

Alfie190 · 10/11/2018 06:44

I can't get past wondering why you would take ice cream to bed.

ferntwist · 10/11/2018 06:47

How old are they both? Are we talking 17 or more like 27? And what was in the Brownies?

Urbanbeetler · 10/11/2018 06:51

Naughty not to tell you; he didn’t even mention it whilst making brownies? What was in those brownies?

Anyway, sensible boys other than not clearing it with you.

Your ice cream dish sounds quite delightful.

Urbanbeetler · 10/11/2018 06:52

Ha! snap!

ILoveAutum · 10/11/2018 07:31

How do you know he was ‘scantily clad’? ....

Naked/semi naked young man, bed, ice cream...

‘Son’s friend’...very cold shower effect....bugger.

GreenTulips · 10/11/2018 07:37

I can't get past wondering why you would take ice cream to bed

Why not? Think you may start a trend OP

BertrandRussell · 10/11/2018 07:49

ALWAYS check the floor by the front door in the morning for unfamiliar giant trainers before entering any room in the house.

Or in the case of one of ds’s best friends for a unicycle.

It’s like being David Attenborough looking for spoor........

PetalsOnTheStream · 10/11/2018 07:56

My mouth is watering for many reasons. Grin

allgoodinthehood · 10/11/2018 07:57

I have to try your pudding now. But YABU for not offering to share it with him.

JanetLovesJason · 10/11/2018 07:58

Boom chicka wow wow

DiscoDown · 10/11/2018 08:04

Disclaimer: am single. Op, I'm so jealous, ice cream and cake, and a naked young man in your bed. Not fair... 😂

Theweasleytwins · 10/11/2018 08:10

Did they leave you brownies??

EmmaGrundyForPM · 10/11/2018 08:20

This sounds exactly the sort of thing my son would do.

When he was 15 I went downstairs one Sunday morning to find 17 pairs of shoes in the hallway. He had brought all his mates back to ours late at night, they had been so quiet DH and I didn't hear them. There were teenagers everywhere, sleeping in the living room, dining room and play room.

Serin · 10/11/2018 08:21

Do you put your pjs on to eat the ice cream or stay in day attire.

SilverApples · 10/11/2018 08:25

Bertrand! Grin
Your home sounds very much like mine. Including the unicycle after one memorable Hallowe’en. And a fire dancer in my garden, celebrating midsummer. And waking up to furtive young persons sneaking replacement eggs and milk into my home after a 4am breakfast.
Each to their own though, I have friends who would be traumatised by one unbooked sleepover of a person they hadn’t known for at least 5 years. Set house rules before stuff happens.

CoughLaughFart · 10/11/2018 08:31

I’m enjoying your description of him as ‘scantily clad’.

Greenkit · 10/11/2018 08:56

-He can’t be over the limit at 8pm the next day!-

Yes he really can, I work in custody and you would be surprised how long it takes for alcohol to come out the system. Some are still sat here at 12noon waiting to blow under the drink drive limit.

Caprisunorange · 10/11/2018 11:19

But it’s 8 hours after 12 noon? He was still there at 8pm the next night when OP posted

Greenkit · 10/11/2018 11:28

Probably just catching on with some sleep then Grin

AviatorShades · 10/11/2018 11:45

I certainly felt over the limit when I drove to Mum's for a 1pm lunch after a night before sesh....Shock

BUT, friends of my son's staying over after their saturday night bashes? Yes,yes, yes! Some on the floor of his room, some on the sitting room floor and one, memorably, in the bathGrin

Best, tho, was the Sunday morning I tiptoed into son's room looking for our cat, to find his friend stretched out on the floor with kitty curled up on his chest...."so there you are, kitty!!^ I say.
Friend opens his eyes "y'know me,Mrs. Shades, I always gets the pussy"GrinGrinGrin
