Just had an awful awful sales experience with a fitted furniture company.

Saleswoman only wanted to talk to DH, ignored me and when the final quote came in double what we had been told by a store rep, she snapped that I looked "pained." She became really really surly and obnoxious. When we said we would need to think about it, she stormed off huffing and puffing all the way, muttering under her breath and knocking my 7 month old daughter in her chair in the process.

I feel like I should have asked her to leave. But have never kicked anyone out.

Anyone done it, why and was it worth it?

3 times - most recently was also a salesman, for those new type of solid roofs for conservatories. Started complaining as soon as he arrived about how far he'd travelled and said it wasn't such a big job as he thought and not worth his while doing it but he'd measure up anyway while I put the kettle on. I told him in no uncertain terms not to bother.

First time 30 years ago was my ex-Mil after I discovered she had arranged a secret birthday party for my daughter's first birthday for all her family and friends the day before her actual birthday party. Apparently it was her grandchild and she could do what she liked. On her way out she warned me that I'd better be looking over my shoulder from then on!

Most upsetting though was my DB because he told his DD 6, who was staying with me, that he couldn't pick her up for a cuddle because his 3-year-old DD from a subsequent relationship wouldn't like it. 25 years later she's NC with him for many incidences like this but he still thinks he's the wronged party.

Yes, although not quite in the way I think you mean.

I had a house guest who really, really outstayed his welcome. He started out staying with us for ‘a few weeks’ because he was desperate and had nowhere to live. Then he got a little too comfortable and even after he had a new place sorted (just down the road) he refused to leave, making all sorts of completely stupid excuses for why he couldn’t possibly move there yet. He was rude, obnoxious and intrusive and made our lives thoroughly miserable for the several months that he stayed.

One day I happened to have a few friends around for lunch and he was hanging around as usual, being loud and annoying. So I asked him ‘how much stuff do you have?’ He mumbled something and I said ‘right, a bag or two each? We can manage that!’ Then my friends and I just picked up all his bags and marched them down the road to his new place. The whole way there he was stammering something about how this really wasn’t necessary and he was going to move it all himself ‘soon’ but we were having none of it!

craftymum01 · 08/11/2018 23:55

@captaincallisto that is horrendous!!

Parisbun · 09/11/2018 00:03

We had a new conservatory built with a perfectly flat subfloor and needed some laminate fitting. We used the company that had done the rest of the downstairs flooring and wanted it to match. Also the original fitters were fantastic blokes with a great work ethic who stayed to get the job done in one go. Anyway on the appointed day the fitters turned up late .
Not the original fitters which was annoying but no problem since its a rectangular space with no awkward corners or tiny gaps that needed special treatment.
No explanation of why they were late but i didnt raise it with them as I was eager to get it done.
The sweatier larger of the two strode into the conservatory and drew a sharp intake of breath. Then he said "this is going to be difficult".
I saw red.
He just looked like a big fat lazy fucker who would want constant cups of tea and probably would condescend to me all day and I couldnt stand it. So I threw them out.
Complete with holding the door open and pointing to their van.

Called the flooring company and told them they werent acceptable and cancelled the order. No quibble from the company so I assume I wasnt the first to complain.
Booked another independent fitter who did a fantastic job in double quick time with no huffing and puffing.

FIL, when he said that my just put of hospital, jaundiced new born "looks Chinese". He's one of those 'not a racist buts'...

Stefoscope · 09/11/2018 00:09

Yes, in a houseshare. Housemate decided to throw a party, fair enough, I told him I had work next day so to wind things down by 1am so I could get some sleep. His guests all seemed to be below drinking age, couldn't handle their booze and were acting obnoxious towards myself and DP. I largely ignored them being drunk and offensive, until the point my housemate knocked on my door hysterically weeping as they'd decided to start an argument with a local gang, which resulted in said gang threatening them with a samurai sword. He was pissed and didn't know what to do to save face, so I told him to call the police whilst me and DP told the remaining party goers to call cabs and GTFO before the police came and arrested them for underaged drinking!

Wheresmrlion · 09/11/2018 00:53

Twice.

Once as a student, met a guy on his mates stag do, clicked instantly. Talked all evening, walked me home (an hour in the snow!), stayed up talking and ended up having incredible sex all night. It was amazing. Until he started crying at 6am. I was obviously really worried and finally got out of him the reason for him being upset. It turns out it wasn’t his mates stag do. It was his! He was getting married the next weekend!!! I’ve never been so furious, for him to lie to me and to coerce me into sleeping with a taken man which I would never do. I literally threw him out and didn’t care that he had no idea where he was in a strange city. What a bastard!

Second not quite as dramatic. Hello fresh salesman who I technically invited in because it was bad weather. After a few minutes of sales patter he got his forms out and started asking me for my details thinking the invitation in meant I wanted to sign up. He was really rude and huffy when I said I’d take a leaflet but never sign up to things at the door. He ended up being chucked out sharpish with his leaflet in hand! Won’t ever use them because of it.

dalmatianmad · 09/11/2018 00:58

Love this thread!
I threw my MIL out when she pleaded with me to take her son back after he beat me black and blue.
She bought the DC their Easter eggs round and didn't even comment on my black eyes. I told her to leave and ended up shoving her our the door, i chucked the easter eggs at her as she went down my drive Grin

MrsTommyBanks · 09/11/2018 01:01

@Hellomatey001
It was a tirade about our local shop not selling something. In the mists of time the item is long forgotten.
The bits I remember, and still cringe at/get upset by were
Him. I told that p* cunt
Me. Get the fuck out of my house.
Never seen him since. It was 15 years ago.

goforkyourself · 09/11/2018 01:17

I once threw a woman out of my house. Caught her in bed with my ex and told her she had ten seconds to get her clothes on and leave. Never seen anyone move so fast Grin

gluteustothemaximus · 09/11/2018 01:35

Yes. My mother.

She was doing her usual nasty tirade of insults, and I finally snapped. Told her to get out of my house. Then escorted her out.

Was a good feeling, showing a bully the door.

Pushy salespeople would have me pretty riled.

selfidentifyinggiraffe · 09/11/2018 02:08

One workman. He mentioned he thought it could be asbestos he'd found. I didn't know what it looked like.

He then huffed and puffed that I asked him to stop chipping away at it then and let me find out first if it was

I suggested he came back another day when I had found out. (Called environmental health I think, I can't remember.. someone who was coming to inspect)

He moaned some more so I mentioned I had a baby and tbh I would expect him to know what it looked like but since he's now panicked me he could let me find out before potentially exposing my baby

He began chipping more aggressively at it so I raised my voice and told him he needed to leave NOW. He began very slowly and PA to pack up so I told him he had 30 mins before I would call the police to pack up his tools and I was taking the baby next door in the meantime

He was out in 5

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 09/11/2018 05:51

Yes. My father. Changed everything.

ItsClemFandangoCanYouHearMe · 09/11/2018 06:47

I didn't but we were having a party (adults and kids) and unbeknownst to me, 2 people were in my bathroom up to all sorts and my SIL found out, stormed up there and marched them out! The guy threw a tantrum because he wasn't leaving without part of his costume and I only found out as he stormed past me out the door.

I miss all the fun!

Bunnybigears · 09/11/2018 07:02

A bathroom salesman who seemed to think the longer he talked and the more tired I became I would just sign on the line to get rid if him. It was nearly 10pm by the time I stopped trying to be nice about it and told him "I want you to leave my house now" he still kept talking so I opened the door (our door opens straight onto quite a busy footpath even at that time of night) and said in a very loud voice "please leave my house now" he left straight away. Im a big fan of safety in numbers.

Just a few days ago I had to kick a drunk woman out of my house who had wandered in off the aforementioned busy street and wasnt listening to me when i told her she was in the wrong house. I put her back in the taxi who was still waiting for his money and he said he was going to call the police to help him get his money (both for the journey and the sick on his back seat) and hopefully find out where she lived.

Gaspodethetalkingdog · 09/11/2018 07:44

Were I used to live we got a lot of religious nutters coming around. I never let them into the house but some of them were so persistent the only way to get rid of them was to be really rude.

I cannot understand how they think anyone will get converted to their cults by this sort of behaviour

QueenEnid · 09/11/2018 08:34

Yes.

My friends husband one new year. Both cane round exceedingly drunk at about 1am. No issue with that, we were up with other friends. However I can't stand her (now ex) husband and his obnoxious behaviour so when he got even more out of sorts than usual I sent my friend to bed upstairs at our house and kicked him out. We still laugh about it now. He still moans about it now apparently 😂

Also, "it's time you left" is a well used saying in our family which is taken with humour and no offence. I also like to tell my ILs "I like it when you come and I love it when you leave" They don't understand my humour at all 😂😂😂

dontalltalkatonce · 09/11/2018 08:39

Yes. Just after we married. DH invited a mutual online friend to stay with us whilst in town. I was pregnant and asked her please not to smoke in the flat (we had a balcony). Got up in the morning and the place was like a nightclub - fag ends all about, clouds of smoke and she'd stayed up all night talking online to her married boyfriend. I told her she needed to leave.

Spudlet · 09/11/2018 08:42

When I was a teenager, one of my younger brother's friends thought he would shock me by getting his dick out.

I don't think he expected me to put him in an armlock and physically eject him from the house, but hey ho...

sandgrown · 09/11/2018 08:45

Ex-dp liked a drink. He was friends with a couple who owned the local off licence ( they did not live there) . DP used to go to the shop a lot and chat to the wife who I suspect fancied him and gave him free drink. One evening the husband rang me and he was very concerned as the shop had been closed an hour and no sign of his wife. I found them chatting in the car at the bottom of my street so told her to get home and went to another shop for bread . When I returned she was in my house on my phone ( pre mobile) .I threw her out while screaming like a fishwife that she should get back to her husband. I lived in a cul de sac so quite entertaining for my neighbours!

ALittleBitofVitriol · 09/11/2018 08:54

Yes. My mother.

She was doing her usual nasty tirade of insults, and I finally snapped. Told her to get out of my house. Then escorted her out.

I'm sorry.
My story is pretty much the same. My mother started yelling at me, insulting my husband, in front of our

ChristmasFluff · 09/11/2018 09:04

A double glazing salesman. Wouldn't speak to only me, despite me being the one who was making the choice and paying for it, insisted my uninterested (now ex) husband be there. We told him we weren't interested half an hour in when he still hadn't given us a price. 10 minutes later I got up and said, 'look, we're busy, we don't have time for this, give me a price now and go.' He wouldn't. My ex-husband then got up and we both stood there pointing at the door and saying repeatedly 'get out get out get out'. He didn't go until we began to phone the Police!

We didn't buy his windows.

My dps friend. He was messing around, threw a bucket of water over my kids.He was slagging my house off.Dp sat there,i opened the hall door and threw him out.

DonaldDucksTowel · 09/11/2018 10:07

My DPs ex friend
There was a few of them round drinking and playing poker, I’d been out and when I came in one of them was saying inappropriate things about me/my body/congratulating DP on me and trying to high five him Hmm
The others were rolling their eyes and saying ‘shut up X you’re being a dick’ but it sounded like they were used to this kind of talk from him
So I went to bed and left them to it

About 20 minutes after I’d gone up he came up and got into bed with me!
At first I assumed it was DP obviously but then I came round a bit and could hear people downstairs so I knew DP wouldn’t have come to bed with people still there, I turned around and his smarmy little face was there about to go in for a kiss Envy

I went absolutely ape shit, was screeching and screaming and absolutely battering him when DP and the others came running up the stairs
I physically dragged him from my bed and threw him down the stairs and kicked him along the floor out the front door
DP took care of the rest

Eurgh thinking about it still makes my skin crawl
