AIBU to be over such “bravery”, “honesty” and “rawness”

Pregnancy and birth: Mum Clemmie Telford on candid Instagram images www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-46131215

Now before you start: this is why I don’t go on insta anymore. But this crap on the BBC? Feck off.

Am so fed up of this type of fawning pap - a woman got on the loo looking fed up in her birthday suit 40w gone and gets accolades for “speaking out” about the “honesty of that time”.

AIBU to just not care? AIBU to be fed up of having the cult of middle class motherhood rammed in my chops? Having been there twice before I didn't realise any “awareness” needed to be raised?

It’s just another freaking priveliged Professional Mother telling the rest of us what we already know and how AMAAAAZINGGGGG it is and how EMPOWEREDDD AND SPECIAL we all are.

Go away. Folk have been having and raising children for millennia. Stop packaging it to us like we’re missing out on “the expeeeeerienccccceee”

I think I just missed the point of it a bit. "You look knackered and big and miserable when 40 weeks pregnant" is not really ground-breaking news.

And let's give the benefit of the doubt and say the first pic was a 'candid snap' - the second one was bizarre in it's contrived-ness (what? That's a word!)

HalloweeninCornwall · 08/11/2018 21:29

Absolutely Bobble didn’t an 18 yo in Germany recently sue her parents for documenting virtually every minute of her life, on line? we can but hope

dontalltalkatonce · 08/11/2018 21:31

Getting fed up of BBC. This is in no way news.

BettyBitchface · 08/11/2018 21:31

It's so brave, honest and raw, not to mention just plain inspiring to monetise one's children.

Oh, hang on a moment. No it's not. It's self indulgent twattery.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 08/11/2018 21:32

YABU.

A toffee crisp wasn’t nearly enough, you should have gone for a box of maltesersnand possibly half a chocolate orange.

HolyMountain · 08/11/2018 21:32

I liked reading CT’s posts before she gave birth to the third baby.

Since having Greta her feed on IG has gone down the pan, pompous and a little up her own arse worthiness.

MsLexic · 08/11/2018 21:35

The bathroom in the background looks a bit prison like, or even loony bin-ish... which would account for her naked mean girl pose. Maybe it's a communal bog...
I think the child should be freed, though.

Elephantgrey · 08/11/2018 21:36

I don't really understand what she is raising awareness of. Going to the toilet? Where babies come from. Surely everyone knows that.

epicclusterfuck Now that woman is genuinely inspirational. I thought about her during my own traumatic labour if she could cope the so could I. I wonder how they both are doing now.

lunchboxloony · 08/11/2018 21:37

Agree with PPs - a) her bathroom is horrible, and b) she has the seat down so IS NOT HAVING A DUMP!! (not sure she said she was, tbh?)

Attention seeking of Daily Fail level, you'd think.......

Your name Grin

SparkyBlue · 08/11/2018 21:38

YANBU OP

reallyanotherone · 08/11/2018 21:38

I’m sure the toilet lid is down in that first pic.

And why is being make up free some huge massive brave event? I never wear make up, why an I not famous?

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 08/11/2018 21:38

She's raising awareness of herself and how special and brave and inspirational she is.
I wish her luck with that...

VioletCharlotte · 08/11/2018 21:39

Seriously, what a load of shite! "You don't see many pregnancy shots that aren't contrived" This is totally contrived! Get over yourself love, you're having a baby! Millions of women have been doing it for years, you're nothing special.

WipsGlitter · 08/11/2018 21:42

Hilarious!

I used to like her but it's all just shite now. All the instamum gang were cavorting round in gold spandex at some party over the weekend. It was totally embarrassing. I wonder any of them were mortified later?!

beefchowmein · 08/11/2018 21:46

I saw a post a woman made on FB with a photograph of her post-birth naked in the delivery room putting on giant knickers and a maternity pad, being helped by her husband, accompanied by a load of ‘this is real, this is RAW’ blah blah. Hmm Obviously with the intention of it being a viral post. I just don’t get it! I love openness and honestly about the realities but stuff like that really doesn’t help or achieve anything.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/11/2018 21:51

The combination of your post and your name @beefchowmein has made my mind go to all manner of dark places [santa]

maddiemookins16mum · 08/11/2018 21:51

I saw this. Know what love...(not you Op), we’re not bovvered. I don’t want to see you sat on the loo. Get over ye’self.

ReanimatedSGB · 08/11/2018 21:53

I think 'raw authentic honesty' invariably means 'attention-seeker with zero talent or imagination' whether it's books, music or photographs of yourself with no pants on. I have some fun naked pregnant photos of myself, but they weren't 'raw and authentic', they were a laugh, with a bottle of Jack Daniels and a cigar and stuff.

Also, you only get away with authentic honest fanny-out pictures in terms of being praised for them if you are young, thin, white and able-bodied, with decent skin and a good stylist. If you're a bit rough-looking or ungroomed or chubby-before-pregnancy, you'll be treated as a joke.

Eatmycheese · 08/11/2018 21:56

They all like gin too.
It makes me almost want to stop drinking it.

If these women spend all the time tweeting / blogging that we're all the same why do they need to be such emotional and virtual as well as literal exhibitionists?

YADNBU

SingingSands · 08/11/2018 21:57

@DontDribbleOnTheCarpet Ah, yes, pedantry point accepted, but you know what I mean! Grin

Mumberjack · 08/11/2018 21:57

I didn’t see the strength or tension in her face. She just looked pissed off.

itsbritneybiatches · 08/11/2018 22:03

I'd of liked to see a pic of her just about to plough her way through her own weight in crisps. That was me at nine months.

Or lying on the bathroom tiles sweating to fuck as it was a heatwave in granny pants and a primark vest.

That's what I can relate to.
