AIBU to be over such “bravery”, “honesty” and “rawness”

Pregnancy and birth: Mum Clemmie Telford on candid Instagram images www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-46131215

Now before you start: this is why I don’t go on insta anymore. But this crap on the BBC? Feck off.

Am so fed up of this type of fawning pap - a woman got on the loo looking fed up in her birthday suit 40w gone and gets accolades for “speaking out” about the “honesty of that time”.

AIBU to just not care? AIBU to be fed up of having the cult of middle class motherhood rammed in my chops? Having been there twice before I didn't realise any “awareness” needed to be raised?

It’s just another freaking priveliged Professional Mother telling the rest of us what we already know and how AMAAAAZINGGGGG it is and how EMPOWEREDDD AND SPECIAL we all are.

Go away. Folk have been having and raising children for millennia. Stop packaging it to us like we’re missing out on “the expeeeeerienccccceee”

YADNBU! It's good to know so many others are getting sick of seeing such contrived crap. Picture bad enough, interview just pathetic! Ego much?

Plessis · 08/11/2018 20:38

If she's taking a dump she's going to have a lot of cleaning to do as she's left the seat closed.

StateofIndependance · 08/11/2018 20:40

Having a shit on the bog is kind of a last bastion of privacy. They've already given us everything else they've got so now we get this. Ridiculous.

Powergower · 08/11/2018 20:46

Yanbu. I am so fucking done with Insta. It's a horrible shallow self glorifying pyramid scheme shit hole.

Devillanelle · 08/11/2018 20:48

Load of pretentious wankers. Bet she didn't vaccinate her baby either.

QforCucumber · 08/11/2018 20:53

I particularly enjoyed Clemmie says there's a stark contrast between the two images yes dear, in one you are pregnant. The other you aren't.

To be fair, at 40 weeks having a shit was pretty newsworthy. Nothing seems to work properly by that point. But at least I never tried to do one with my knickers on.

planechocolate · 08/11/2018 21:08

But she's the FIRST woman to have a baby everrrrr...

AnoukSpirit · 08/11/2018 21:08

I was somewhat perplexed after reading the article without seeing the photos. Having seen them now I do not get it at all. "Fierce and inspiring"?

So confused.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 08/11/2018 21:09

OP, YANBU. We have jumped the fucking shark

And the bleedin' Narwhal!

What an attention-seeking mare!

jacquejacque · 08/11/2018 21:09

I can't help but feel like she wants us to think she was just sat in the bathroom and a professional photographer just happened to walk in and catch her at her most vulnerable. Not like they actively discussed it and decided that she should take off all her cloths, sit on the big and look fed up. Which I'm guessing is what actually happened.

Mcclare · 08/11/2018 21:09

What makes her think anyone would want to see this? Grow up and stop seeking attention/ praise or whatever she is after.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 08/11/2018 21:10

On the bright side, surely the barrel of attention-seeking wankery has now been scraped clean. Hasn't it? Please tell me this is it, or is there just going to be retro-wankery to repeat the wankery of years past?

epicclusterfuck · 08/11/2018 21:10

For some reason this reminded me of the pregnant woman in Mozambique who sought refuge ina tree to escape flooding and gave birth to her daughter in that tree, it took three days for them to be rescued. That baby is now 18!

Agree with everything being said except the swanky bathroom.
I was just thinking how utterly shit it looked. (No pun I tended😉).)

It looks utilitarian - not in a good way (if there’s ever a good way).

SingingSands · 08/11/2018 21:17

"But what's seen less often is the reality of a woman's body at 40 weeks' pregnant, usually tired and anxious about the journey ahead."

Seen less often? Say whaaat? Surely, surely, every pregnant woman has seen herself at 40 weeks pregnant? And a hell of a lot of partners of said women will also have seen those pregnant bodies? And that adds up to quite a lot of bloody people?!

I'm just baffled by all this. It makes me feel old, and I'm not old! When did it become appropriate to become so navel-gazing about pregnancy? Who is it serving? These images don't empower me or serve me in any way.

BobbleHat102 · 08/11/2018 21:19

Anyone else feel incredibly sorry for the poor baby? Her name is printed in the article. When her high school buddies find that in 15 years time...or her prospective employer sees it in 25 years time.

Poor little sausage, she is a person not a prop for mummy's ego. Angry

Rachelover40 · 08/11/2018 21:19

A very unusual thing to do, is she hoping to get a modelling job on Page 3 of The Sun in the future?

I'm buggered if I would let anyone take a photo of me on the loo, pregnant or not. Some activities are meant to be private.

Yes, it's a bit "public lav" and the grouting looks like it will always look a little bit dirty no matter how hard it is scrubbed.

EdWinchester · 08/11/2018 21:21

Completely agree.

Such attention seeking crap.

Never heard of this silly moo before this thread but am of the opinion that these mum bloggers are immensely irritating and should get a proper job.

HalloweeninCornwall · 08/11/2018 21:21

If she’d just posted a picture of the bathroom we’d have known she had no taste.

She puts herself on the toilet and absolutely co firms it.

Yeuch.

I bet she has nylon flowers all over the house.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 08/11/2018 21:22

Okay, so this is lightly pointless pedantry, but I've had five children and never been 40 weeks pregnant. Thankfully. 38 weeks was quite bad enough!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/11/2018 21:24

It really reminded me of the public lavs in Edinburgh c. 1990 but without the needles and wall “decoration”

@bobblehat102 making an excellent point there btw

What is it raising awareness of?

The BBC seem to have more and more news items taken from social media, very odd.
