Real Christmas tree or fake?

My fake one is scraggly and so I am torn this year...Real or fake?
I know fake is more economical in the long run but I'm tempted to go for real this year then buy a good fake in the sale.

What about other mn...what do you prefer?

Real every time. Part of the tradition of Christmas is going to choose and cut the tree on Gaudete Sunday.

Real for me.

Nicer look.
Nicer smell.
No trying to squeeze it into a stupidly small box afterwards.
It doesn’t take up unnecessary space in the house for the other 49 weeks a year.

Real for us,the non drop variety.We are away for a week 9ver christmas so will get a smaller one than usual.
We put pursue around the 21st and down on 12th night.
12th night bonfires should be a thing to burn all the trees.Mine goes to be shredded for compost.

Are they not full of creepy crawlies? The spiders really put me off getting a real tree even though I would love one 🎄

Always real. A fake tree is just rubbish. If we didn't have real we wouldn't bother having a tree.

We have dogs and until last year always had cats. Never been a problem with the tree and we get a 6ft one

Fake. We had a real one once. The cats went bonkers and utterly destroyed it within 24hrs. The fake one usually makes it until the end of Christmas.

Real. I love a real Christmas tree. But we do occasionally settle for a fake on years where we aren't really around over December if we are going on holiday and then spending Christmas elsewhere. Going to pick our Christmas tree (and my DP having to haul tree upon tree out so I can look at it and see if it's a nice shape [and then having to saw the trunk when we get home]) is a festive ritual for us!

Also we have two cats and a dog and aside from the odd bauble being swiped off the lower branches, we've never had any issues with trees, real or fake!

This will be our first year without a real tree. We have downsized and don't have the space for the giant real trees we had in the past plus getting them in and out is trickier. We have gone for a balsam hill pre lit on e and I'm crossing my fingers it looks a reasonable substitution.

We have a couple of fake ones but our main one in the living room is always real. Though usually not massive.

We bought a really nice one reduced in a sale just after Christmas about 10 years ago and it still looks fab

We always have a real one. I put it up first weekend in December, and take it down way way too late due to general laziness. They’ve never died on us! We freshly cut the end and water it well and they last.

To hijack a little here: does anyone have a recommendation for a fake tree about 12ft high (can be quite bushy)?

Youngest DS spent last Christmas with streaming eyes, whenever he went in the room with the real tree, and our hall can take a large tree.

Wijjy yes the Balsam Hill ones come in a variety of sizes.

We have real if we are in the country, this year we aren’t so it’ll be fake.

My dm and mil only ever had fake so it's what we are used to. Our fake tree is a lovely one and is environmentally friendly in that my mil was chucking it out (despite the fact that it cost £££ and it was only used once) and we took it and have used it for the last 20 years or so. It will probably outlast us.

Fake, and it's about 15 years old and got several more years in it so both cheaper and at least as environmentally friendly as real. Very handy as we can adjust which branches go where to work around walls, corners and furniture more easily than pruning a real tree that won't be the right shape for the corner it needs to fit in.

Fake, I'm allergic to real. My tree is 7 years old and my dad bought it for me in the sale. Don't plan on replacing it any time soon.
