Delivery driver just had a dump at my house!

AIBU? I've just had some furniture delivered and the first thing the guy said was, 'Can I use your loo?' I didn't want him to but felt that I couldn't refuse so I reluctantly said yes. He was in there for ages. He's had a smelly dump. It fucking stinks. I could have cried. He then bought the furniture in and I've just had to go and clean the toilet. I'm disgusted.

your loo brush will be a shit lollipop

Ahhh this a gem, gave me a full snort of laughter! Grin

Please call them to demand a refund of your delivery charge Op, please, you’ll make the day of the person who takes your call.

Vixxxy · 04/11/2018 00:35

I can't believe your husband wants you to ask for the delivery cost refunded, because the driver needed a shit.

Though I do think its quite bad that he left skidmarks. I check in my own house that I don't so that, nevermind in someone elses. Loads of blokes seem to leave them though, that is quite vile.

AGHHHH · 04/11/2018 00:46

I didn't see this bit! What the actual fuck?

HirooOnoda · 04/11/2018 01:43

@Cressida89

I think you have misunderstood the premise that underpinned me suggesting you were missing the point - this isn’t about ‘anyone’ using the loo but the fact that the OP agreed for it to be used - that should be the end of this debate

The fact you have claimed that others are suggesting this is some sort of class issue reveals at least some sort of a chip on your shoulder. It’s not necessary, this isn’t about that - don’t like it? Say no. Neither posh or otherwise to do just that

Topseyt · 04/11/2018 02:54

I wouldn't shit in some random person's house. I just wouldn't

Daft comment. Nobody goes to random people's houses just to do a shit and nobody is claiming that they do. This was a man who had had cause to go to OP's house to deliver furniture and asked to use the toilet whilst there. He didn't just bash on the door wanting to use the shitter.

YouCantTourniquetTheTaint · 04/11/2018 03:31

If you display this level of histrionics over someone having a dump in your toilet I dread to think about what your reaction is when something serious goes wrong.

And thinking that you should be entitled to a refund on delivery charges because the delivery guy had a dump in your toilet? Are for real? I mean seriously the sense of entitlement is really quite astounding.

Good grief Hmm

Imustgetup12 · 04/11/2018 04:52

How could the poor man clean off his skidmarks if there's no toilet brush? I give mine a soak in bleach n leave them in the sun for a while.

fuzzydaisy · 04/11/2018 05:29

This post made me Grin, thanks for that OP, I needed a good laugh!

Buy one of these, or similar, and hang it on the wall.

You need to change the title on this it's actually mis leading, he used your toilet not your front garden

Also, as for cleaning it up after him, this can't be the first time you've cleaned someone's skids if you don't provide a brush!!

AGHHHH · 04/11/2018 06:03

I think we're past a title change 32 pages in. 'At' my house is fine though.

Swearymum83 · 04/11/2018 06:36

Yes, if he left skid marks and didn't use spray etc he was out of line but there is no crime in him asking to use the loo as long as he's respectful.

Tradies piss me off. I had an air con guy charge me an absolute fortune to replace a part (took like 10 minutes), he used my loo (left seat up) and made a mess of the area where the air con is.. he also asked me to clean the parts of the fucking air con!! Some men are just rude, entitled pricks imo.

Deidre21 · 04/11/2018 06:42

I’m sure he did not want to have ask to use it. If he could have been able to hold it in until he left and possibly went to a public toilet then I’m sure he would have.

We had plenty of building work at our home and having pale coloured carpets upstairs and the only one bathroom for our use being upstairs, I often felt bad that the tradesmen working at times could not use the bathroom as our upstairs area was the only clean, non-diy building site part of our home. Of course we told them this before they started work and they were fine to go to the nearest public toilets which was about 10 minutes drive from us. At the beginning stage we did have porta-loos for the builders. We have, since completing the building work have a new downstairs guest cloakroom which when we had landscaping done I did not have any problem with the gardeners coming in to use the downstairs loo as it is much more easier for me to clean up any soil or garden debris they accidentally traipsed in on the way to to loo (no carpets downstairs just easy to clean wood flooring) and I also made sure that the cloakroom window was always open through your the day. Perhaps you (if you have a window( should’ve opened it the moment he left or actually opened it before he went in - I am sure you did not expect him to be having a poo but don’t know what else to say. If the entire house smells then open all the windows and go outside for a bit until the smell has gone. Basically, he needed to use the toilet and as disgusting as it is to smell another persons poo it could’ve been worse. Surely he flushed the toilet afterwards?

PhilomenaButterfly · 04/11/2018 06:44

Rudgie there are no public toilets round here. Most pubs and cafés want you to buy something. There's Sainsbury's, but he'd need plenty of warning.

Deidre21 · 04/11/2018 06:54

By the way a toilet brush does not have to be dirty after use and therefore sit crusted in poo at the side of a toilet as there is a way of cleaning it. So what do you do with the marigolds after each use? Hang it on your radiator in the bathroom to dry or leave at side of toilet or over the bath before the next use - that would be disgusting. I have always had toilet brushes like many people have and they’ve never had remnants of poo on them and we always have the white coloured toilet brushes. As someone mentioned you can bleach them and leave them outside. You can also clean the toilet make sure it’s shaken off properly in the toilet bowl and or rinse it by pouring water over it to get excess lathered toilet cleaner off if before it goes back into its holder. Perhaps get a toilet brush so that you even if you don’t use it, your next unexpected guest (stranger or not) could and then you’d have less mess to see or clear up after they’ve use your loo.

Loobrushesarefuckingrank · 04/11/2018 06:55

Astounded by this thread.

Typical MN.

Instead of being accepting that there are many folk who wouldn't feel comfy or like a stranger shitting in their toilet, rather than welcoming into their homes to shit in every toilet like themselves , they attack.
Accusing posters of being unkind, evil, unhinged etc

I think you are all the ones that need to get a grip.

PhilomenaButterfly · 04/11/2018 06:58

Cressida I often shit in other people's houses, though acquaintances, not strangers, if I'm there for 4 hours, it's likely that I'm going to need a shit at some point, particularly as I've usually been drinking.

Deidre21 · 04/11/2018 07:02

I have to agree though with OP that a lot of people do have low or no hygiene standards. I’ve seen plenty of people in ladies rooms (don’t want to think of men) who after leaving the toilet cubicle do not even care to wash their hands - that is beyond me. You are taught this as a child to wash hands after using the toilet before eating your food, etc. It’s enough to start to becoming OCD yourself when it comes to cleanliness.

PhilomenaButterfly · 04/11/2018 07:04

What's wrong with with "at my house"? "I had tea at my granny's house." I didn't have it on the doorstep.

Loobrushesarefuckingrank · 04/11/2018 07:06

Those of you letting any Tom, Dick or Bernard into your homes to use your facilities to shit and who do not give a shit about it, crack on. Fill your boots.
It's absolutely no skin off my nose.
Use your shit sticks to clean up their shit stains left in your toilet and inhale every bit of that foul smelling shit stench that some stranger has left you.
Go on, enjoy.
😂🤣😂

Me, on the other hand. If they were desperate, I would reluctantly let them
use my toilet- I would be mean otherwise. But I would be mighty pissed off at the mess/ smell and the fact that it had been left to me to clear up. In my own fucking home and left by a complete fucking stranger, and I think that most Rl people with any standards would feel exactly the same.

Loobrushesarefuckingrank · 04/11/2018 07:08

PhilomenaButterfly

You sound charming and full of class, you.

MotherofDinosaurs · 04/11/2018 07:18

I feel like I have to let Mumsnet in on a really good strategy I've worked out.

I banished loo brushes from my house when I had a crawling baby who would get hold of everything.. I think they're revolting things, sat festering in germs.

If you leave skid marks in the toilet, here's what you can do. Wrap a load of loo paper round your hand, and this is the really clever bit: just reach down the loo and wipe it off using the paper so your hand doesn't directly touch the poo. It's so simple! And the best it is you can wash your hands afterwards!

Anyone saying 'poor man what could he do with no loo brush' get a fucking grip. He could deal with his own mess, including touching it, by any means necessary rather than leave it for someone else.

And he should have gone to a public one.

I'm with you OP, no one wants a stranger's poo stinking out their home. Terribly rude of him.

LaurieMarlow · 04/11/2018 08:01

I'd much prefer to use my easily cleaned loo brush than keep sticking my hand down the bowl mother but each to his own.

Cressida89 · 04/11/2018 08:01

@HirooOnada

You're making no sense, I'm afraid.

Last night you accused me of a "lazy attempt to make this into a class war" by my use of the word snob.

But I was directly responding to other posters who had used that word . Ergo I was not introducing the concept or "trying to make" anything Confused

To be precise TeddybearBaby had made two comments yesterday afternoon about OP's supposed snobbery, one of which was "I think there's a bit of snobbery going on."

I was disagreeing with that. I mean, I don't mind people disagreeing with me, but I do expect them to be able to follow what I'm actually saying before attacking me Hmm

As an aside, for those proclaiming the white sparkliness of their toilet brushes, do said toilet brushes stay like that if you usher a stream of random workmen in to use your toilet?

In any case, I'd be prepared to bet that the guy would have left the loo in the exact same state even if there had been a toilet brush. Honestly, there's thread after thread on here about how men leave their own bathroom - but we're expected to believe this guy was searching high and low in anguish for the means to clean up Grin No one really believes that- it's just a convenient excuse for a bit of OP-bashing.

SerenaOverjoyed · 04/11/2018 08:13

Surely without a loo brush you can't clean skid marks? You can use paper if it's above the water line, but if it's below you'd be dipping your hand in faecal water?

It's just poo. I can't imagine being upset.
