Delivery driver just had a dump at my house!

AIBU? I've just had some furniture delivered and the first thing the guy said was, 'Can I use your loo?' I didn't want him to but felt that I couldn't refuse so I reluctantly said yes. He was in there for ages. He's had a smelly dump. It fucking stinks. I could have cried. He then bought the furniture in and I've just had to go and clean the toilet. I'm disgusted.

It is one thing to take a dump and another not to clean up after yourself.

And it's another thing to deny people the tools to clean up after themselves because you're weird about loo brushes.

Exactly, the OP doesn't have a loo brush

Topseyt · 03/11/2018 10:55

Openup, the OP has said that she doesn't have a toilet brush and thinks they are disgusting. So she must have expected him to put his hands down her toilet to scrub it.

I wouldn't put my hands down anyone else's toilet. I would clean using a toilet brush.

Henryismyfriend · 03/11/2018 11:10

Well, strikes me as the problem here is that a person employed in a service industry has actually dared to be human rather than the robots that are expected.
I mean how dare someone need to use a toilet and eat, allowing those above them to see that they have normal human functions that can only be controlled for a certain length of time. Doesn't this man know his place?!

FFS get over yourself.

NotMeNoNo · 03/11/2018 11:18

Sorry this is unbelievable. This was a perfectly normal situation of a human being using sanitary facilities. Yes bodily functions smell but nobody since the Victorians believes it does you any harm. Delivery drivers work hard on tight schedules and are often limited in where they can park a van/lorry for a break. They are human, they sometimes unexpectedly need the loo.

One day you may be caught short OP, pay it forward.

ItsAndTarts · 03/11/2018 11:35

Oh op I want your life if this is one of the major issues that causes you stress

Rudgie47 · 03/11/2018 11:36

If he couldn't find a public loo in a supermarket/pub/coffee shop etc, he should have gone behind a bush or out in the countryside somewhere.
I'd complain, no doubt about it. Tradespeople know not to crap in the loos of private houses.

Sirzy · 03/11/2018 11:38

You would rather someone shit outside than politely asking, and the home owner agreeing, to use someone toilet? Confused

Thisreallyisafarce · 03/11/2018 11:40

At work we had a female colleague who stank the toilet cubicles out every single morning going for a shit. The smell was like nothing on earth and actually made a pregnant female physically sick one day.
Colleagues were not impressed as it would stink the toilets out for hours and a colleague once described it as her " dropping her guts". Yes, we spoke about it.

What a nasty little gang you sound like.

BarbaraofSevillle · 03/11/2018 11:40

Really Rudgie. He should go for a shit in a field rather than the OPs perfectly functional toilet?

That's probably the most ridiculous comment on the thread. What if the OP lives in an urban area? No 'countryside' for this wilderness shit and possibly nowhere to park a lorry near to shops/cafes etc that he could use?

LaurieMarlow · 03/11/2018 11:41

Fuck me, this thread keeps on giving. Hmm

And if he was in an urban area, maybe he should have just taken a shit on the pavement.

The 19th century called, it wants you back.

InertPotato · 03/11/2018 11:42

So it's actually true, then, that people on MN don't have loo brushes.

This thread is hilarious.

Thisreallyisafarce · 03/11/2018 11:43

No, they don't. There is no law against it. Just say no if you don't want someone to use your toilet.

I had a BT engineer do this my toilet about 12 years ago, was in a disgusting mess afterwards, took at least half an house to clean. I work from home and clients use my toilets but this was revolting. It's not right to put customers in that position.

NotMeNoNo · 03/11/2018 11:45

Bless you some of you have no clue of the logistics of a job driving a goods vehicle all day.

PunkrockerGirl59 · 03/11/2018 11:52

Well that must surely win the prize for the nastiest, most batshit comment on this thread and there's been plenty to choose from

You sound like a spoilt, small-minded little madam, Rudgie

ilovesooty · 03/11/2018 12:05

I can't believe the suggestion that the delivery man should shit in a public place rather than request the use of the toilet.

Rudgie47 · 03/11/2018 12:05

Not nasty at all, theres public toilets available for people to crap in.
Its nasty and entitled to have a crap in someone house and leave a mess and a stink.
I've got friends who are joiners and they would never do this in a private houses. Someone on my street was having a big job done and the company installed a portaloo. They are even told when they are at college about this.

BarbaraofSevillle · 03/11/2018 12:12

theres public toilets available for people to crap in

Er, where?

There are no public toilets in my area (large village surrounded with housing estate). To get to a toilet would be a 15 minute round trip to the next town, or retail park, plus time to park and walk to shops etc.

For people on tight schedules, there simply isn't the time to divert for toilet stops and it's completely ridiculous to expect people to go off to do so, when they could use a toilet in someone's home.

Yes, he should have cleaned up after himself, but the OP prevented that by not having the tools available to do the job.

LaurieMarlow · 03/11/2018 12:16

I'd say the nearest public loo to me is 3 miles away. And there's no parking. You do realise delivery people have targets to meet don't you?

Its nasty and entitled to have a crap in someone house and leave a mess and a stink.

I'll say it again THERE WAS NO LOO BRUSH. apart from that all you have is an ordinary guy with ordinary bodily needs doing an honest day's work. Nasty and entitled to deny him.

Someone on my street was having a big job done and the company installed a portaloo.

This is hardly relevant to a delivery person now is it? Or should we all get portaloos installed if we're getting a bit of furniture delivered? Listen to yourself.

Thankfully I don't know anyone like you in real life. All my friends are decent, empathetic types.

Dorsetdays · 03/11/2018 12:18

Loo brushes are most definitely a MN thing! I know not one single person, friend or family who has one.

They are absolutely revolting.

Thisreallyisafarce · 03/11/2018 12:18

To be honest, I usually wouldn't let a delivery person use my toilet, but that is because I am usually in my house as a lone woman with a small child and I wouldn't risk it. Nothing to do with poo. With my DH present, I wouldn't have a problem with it.
