is cute and would be nice if my friend had a boy or a girl in the Spring?

Bobbies were pooswhere I grew up (Thames valley). If I wanted to use Bobbie I'd make sure the child has a full name (Robyn, Roberta) to offer more options later on.

I like Bobbie or Robyn shortened but I really don't like Roberta, I don't know why, probably a generation thing.

As a nickname for a child it is fine but it doesn't work for a 63 year old overweight person with grey hair. A name has to be suitable for life.

Is your friend Meghan? Confused

greendale17 · 02/11/2018 13:08

I don’t like it.

I work with a Bobbie. She's lovely and it doesn't seem to have done her career any harm.

Lilyhatesjaz · 02/11/2018 19:28

Bobbie on Marvel agents of shield is short for Barbara

Offler · 02/11/2018 19:40

My dd is Bobbie, short for Roberta. Family and friends use Bobbie, but she’s mostly Roberta at school.

And it’s all because of the Railway Children 😁

Got Janis Joplin singing Bobby McGee stuck in my head now. Quite like it. Especially for a girl. I like unisex names for girls. (If it was me, I'd be thinking about Frankie, Stevie, Riley & Dylan too).

A friend has recently had a baby girl, called Bobbie. She's gorgeous, as is the name.

Horrible name - make me think of poo!
