Making excuses. Hmm Online shopping isn't something you need permission and special circumstances to do. That's hilarious.

ButchyRestingFace · 31/10/2018 08:06

Clairenewbie, there are a number of disabilities which would preclude jaunts to the shops.

Lack of shops in my area and lack of time to go further afield is the reason why I sometimes shop online though.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 31/10/2018 08:07

And I'll give you bonus points if I can get there and back within my half an hour lunch break, or the shop is open outside my normal working hours of 8am-7pm monday-friday and 8am-2pm Saturday

HavelockVetinari · 31/10/2018 08:08

I think Claire is a little hard of thinking Hmm

Clearly since she knows one disabled person who can get to the shops, all other disabled people must have the exact same disability and exactly the same level of support available to them ConfusedGrin

BrazzleDazzleDay · 31/10/2018 08:12

@ThatPurpleCat our hermes guy is really good but ordering a before 12 delivery with next is pointless here. The hermes guy doesn't get the next parcels til back of 12.

FittonTower · 31/10/2018 08:15

I'm a 38' inside leg. I love on-line shopping because it means i don't have to wear too-short men's jeans anymore. Obvioulsy this makes me to blame for Debenhams closing down but that is my cross to bear.....
I don't tend to pay for next day delivery because I've spent my life being unable to find stuff that fits so I'm good at planning or improvising but my very favourite thing is that now most places deliver to a local shop so i don't have to wait in for delivery any more. Waiting for deliverys that never arrived used to make me so angry

ThatPurpleCat · 31/10/2018 08:16

brazzledazzle you're lucky to have a good Hermes guy, cherish himGrin
We've had parcels in the wheelie bin and once he put a parcel under DS car in the drive which DS drove over, luckily it was clothing Confused

WTF would anyone take a day off work for an ASOS/Zara delivery? Why not just have it delivered to work??

Anniegetyourgun · 31/10/2018 08:35

Not all workplaces allow you to do that.

RandomObject · 31/10/2018 08:39

Ha at 'stop making excuses'

Guess what, I order online because I can't be arsed to go to the shops. Shoot me.

GreenTulips · 31/10/2018 08:42

I also order on line

Very few shops here unless you want to sit on a boat for 3 hours.

1 uniform shop they don't stock all the sizes. No trendy clothes shops for teens - Dr Marina for example - only wellies available from a basic shoe shop -

Yeah I shop on line -

Who wants to drag 3 kids round town on a cold winters day?

ResistanceIsNecessary · 31/10/2018 08:45

Not just clothing - I have had this exact problem this week with a kitchen item.

Ordered on Friday for delivery on Monday (extra charge). Waited in all day only to find it's still in the depot miles away. Delivery slot confirmed for yesterday between 11-12. Courier turns up early, doesn't ring the doorbell so I don't hear him and fucks off. Many phonecalls later he comes back after I get arsey about having to book more time off.

Pissy emails to the firm charging us for 'guaranteed next working day delivery' have got us nowhere. Mistakes happen but if they are handled correctly then most people are fine. It's when companies double down and refuse to engage that annoys me the most - don't charge me extra for the bloody service if you can't meet your own delivery slots!

ALemonyPea · 31/10/2018 08:49

Oh hark, St Claire has spoken and we are all lazy pt noodle eating peasants who are too lazy to leave our settees. Take heed!

Enb76 · 31/10/2018 08:50

My Zara delivery the other week was perfect and delivered next day. I wasn't even expecting it to turn up the next day. I guess it depend where you live!

ButchyRestingFace · 31/10/2018 08:53

WTF would anyone take a day off work for an ASOS/Zara delivery? Why not just have it delivered to work??

Well, in my case I work freelance and can’t, as a non employee, just have things delivered to wherever place I happen to be that day. Smile

SoupDragon · 31/10/2018 08:56

Item could end up to big or small

Order more than one size and return the ones that don't fit. Much the same as you wojld try things on in a store.

or worse all stained and ripped.

I order loads and loads online and have never had something arrived stained or ripped.

Why not just go to the store and buy there?

Because the store isn't available locally and any shipping costs are pretty much the same as either parking or public transport costs. And, you know, sofa... pot noodles.

I once ordered a load of clothes from the end of a pier in Antigua whilst wearing a bikini and they arrived when I got back. That beats a trek into Town any day.

Ifoundanacorn · 31/10/2018 08:58

Zara left my parcel on the road by the bins! Technically Hermes but why use a courier company that dumps peoples orders by the bins? No surprise that my order isn’t there! So angry and fed up

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 31/10/2018 09:05

Unbelievably annoying.

I once paid quite a bit extra for a next day delivery, waited in the entire day, for an item listed as 'in stock' - it never appeared.

What made me particularly mad was that the co. had insisted on a phone number with the order 'in case of problems'.

So why on earth hasn't they phoned me? I asked.
Ooh, sorry - our mistake.
I put in a strongly worded written complaint - and got a substantial voucher as an apology. Well worth the effort. It paid for a particularly nice present for a small child in the family.

MsHopey · 31/10/2018 09:06

Waiting is all day for DPD on Monday. Couldn't find the address, apparently, though I live at the end of a cul de sac so no chance we missed them on our street. So they clearly never came on our street at all.
Got next day delivery from Tesco Outlet, waiting in all day Tuesday for it and they'd sent it to a depot 85 miles away! It is supposed to be coming today, we'll see.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 31/10/2018 09:09

Just me then, who thought Zara Tindall Blush

SoupDragon · 31/10/2018 09:10

I do think it's all dependent on your local couriers TBH as the experiences seem to differ hugely between areas. All of my local couriers seem really good.

CatkinToadflax · 31/10/2018 09:11

I must be showing my age. I clicked on the link to find out what Zara Tindall had done to offend you. Blush

CatkinToadflax · 31/10/2018 09:12

Ahh cross-posted, cathasfleas! Phew, not just me! Grin

EthelHallowsBroomstick · 31/10/2018 09:15

Some places will say "24 hour delivery" but hide in the small print that they won't actually send out the thing on the day you've ordered. So it's "next day" from the day they send it but they're not up front about the fact it could take them a few days or even weeks to bother packaging it and sending it out.

SistersOfHearsey · 31/10/2018 09:16

I see someone put 50p in the dick head than 😂
