To have picked up a spliff in the playpark

Took DD to the park this morning - first thing she wanted to go on was the basket swing thing. I saw a very large spliff in the basket so popped it into my pocket before lifting her into it. Then I noticed two youngish men with a little girl - the men were walking around obviously looking for something 😂😂😂. One of them gave me a few sideways looks, but it’s not like they could come up to middle-aged mumsy me to ask if I’d picked up their spliff. Twats.

@sisgal like I said I’m middle-aged. Spliff was the term in use 25 years ago when I wasn’t! And no I’m not going to smoke it - like someone above said, you don’t know what’s in other people’s drugs. They were twats for losing it in a children’s playground, and I also felt sorry for the girl who was with them, being looked after by two blokes who were going to get stoned. But I can see that’s my middle-aged/middle-class judginess coming out.

I'd rip it up and bin it. Utter scumbags!

NerrSnerr · 28/10/2018 16:04

If they want to smoke weed then that's their call. I would judge the for leaving a spliff or whatever people who perceive themselves as cool call them in a park for kids to pick up.

AllTakenSoRubbishUsername · 28/10/2018 16:21

Should have put it straight in the bin. I did that with an unopened packet of cigarettes once. Shouldn't have dropped them in a playground.

exWifebeginsat40 · 28/10/2018 16:25

i’m high as balls* right now, OP. does anyone fancy making some toast?

*may contain lies

TheSheepofWallSt · 28/10/2018 16:28

@stylishmummy Grin scumbags? It’s a spliff, not a nail bomb.

CherryValance · 28/10/2018 16:29

Definitely still called a spliff. Presumably OP picked it up so a child wouldn't! Definitely wouldn't smoke it though, could be laced with anything. Or just rolled with B&H Envy (not envy). Just chuck it in the bin.

I'd not have given it back either, although I probably would have done if they didn't have a child with them and it hadn't been found in a playpark.

costacoffeecup · 28/10/2018 16:42

Of course they're scumbags. What if a child had picked it up and eaten it or something? Total irresponsible idiots.

Biancadelriosback · 28/10/2018 16:54

If they dropped it by accident, does that make it better? I doubt they planted it. Plus you have no idea if these men were planning on smoking this around the child, stop being judgemental.
Personally I couldn't get worked up by this.

brighteyeowl17 · 28/10/2018 17:12

Why are some people defending said drug smokers. Some kids/teenagers would definitely pick it up and smoke it so well done for disposing of it.

Momo27 · 28/10/2018 17:17

‘Why are they twats?’ is the most twattish comment on the thread.

Is anyone really so thick they can’t see why it’s fucking stupid to lose a spliff in a play park

Limensoda · 28/10/2018 17:22

In real life people do smoke cannabis! Losing the spliff in the playground is not good so it's fortunate OP found it.
In the play park near where I live, teenagers who congregate there at night have left needles and those small nitrous oxide cylinders lying around. It's not even a bad area.

Hoopaloop · 28/10/2018 17:27

"First off, smoke it and chill the F out. Secondly, no one calls it a spliff these days"

What do they call it now? Is it Clarky Cat, Triple Subs, Yellow Benzees or Cake?

LaurieFairyCake · 28/10/2018 17:45

It's still a spliff. I live in spliff central (sarf London) and it's always been a spliff.

LittleMe03 · 28/10/2018 18:26

Shocked by some of the replies 😮 OP you did the right thing so that your child didn't ask questions as to what it was and also that it couldn't have been picked up by another child.

I just hope you binned it as soon as you had the chance to.

TheWiseWomansFear · 28/10/2018 18:27

@AamdC don't most people know what a joint looks like?

TheUser420 · 29/10/2018 09:45

If the OP was in Canada, Oregon, Colorado, California, Washington, Nevada, Alaska, Maine, Massachusetts or Vermont the situation may have been different Grin. MN is an international forum, from what I've seen ....

NerrSnerr · 29/10/2018 10:06

@TheUser420 would it be acceptable for someone to leave a spliff where a child could pick it up somewhere where a child could pick it up. Alcohol is legal in the UK but I wouldn't leave it somewhere where a child could get hold of it.

NerrSnerr · 29/10/2018 10:07

Too many child could pick it ups there but you know what I mean!

Sitranced · 29/10/2018 10:10

Do you need a lighter?

RPC28 · 29/10/2018 10:21

No don't smoke it. It might have spice or something worse in it 🤢. Poor little girl. I would of done the same pick it up and throw it in the bin so my little girl didn't pick it up.

AGHHHH · 29/10/2018 10:24

@Sisgal Are they named after you? How do you know what 'they' call them?

wrongendofthestick · 29/10/2018 10:30

The Law: As of 26th January 2009, Cannabis was reclassified as a Class B drug with a maximum prison term for possession rising from two to five years

Don't pick it up and get caught Shock

For others it can have quite the opposite effect, turning ordinary folk into unbearable, spaced out, lazy hippies. A night of industrial strength spliffing can transform you into a giggling oaf who will burst into laughter at wholly unamusing incidents and find deep intellectual depth in the Spice Girls' lyrics

YANBU. I hope it was swiftly dropped into the park litter bin where one would expect a child would not find it.

wrongendofthisdick · 29/10/2018 15:06

Where's the OP gone? Is she stoned?!
