‘I’d like my chicken rare, please’

AIBU that you don’t have ‘rare’ chicken?!

I cooked a chicken stroganoff for my mate earlier and as I went to brown off the thigh fillets my mate pipes up

‘can you leave mine rare please?’

I said ‘don’t worry I’m not going to overcook them!’

And age says ‘yeah but can you leave mine a bit pink?’

Confused I told her she could get ill and she says she always does chicken like that and never has! And it’s no different to having a rare steak Confused

Anyone else know anybody that has their food ‘weirdly’?

At uni my housemate used to love eating half defrosted bread.

Perhaps she was trying to sound like a foodie and like she knew what she was talking about.

Perhaps she will look back and cringe just like I do when I thought I was all grown up and asked for ice in my lager Blush I was out on a course with work and possibly not quite old enough to drink! I can still picture the barmaid’s face Blush

I suppose it’s possible that she wanted to try and sound sophisticated but she’s 33 and highly educated so I’m not sure!

She says she just prefers the taste like that, and you don’t get ill if the meat is good quality. She’s originally from Sweden and not the UK if that makes any difference! I’d never cooked or eaten anything other than a lunchtime sandwich with her before.

The ‘you’ll get samonella’ ‘No I won’t its not salmon’ made me laugh!!!GrinGrin

urgh!! wrong - and dangerous!

BabbysYed · 28/10/2018 10:08

I find when I go to Thai restaurants chicken is often served quite pink - so I avoid it now! I had the galloping quick shits for 6 days once after finding a piece of totally raw chicken in a risotto at a local
Italian. I only really cook chicken at home now.

I hope you refused to indulge her.

From your link:

There have been no human cases acquired from meat produced in the UK for over 30 years; however, there have been occasional cases in the UK in people eating undercooked pig or horse meat sourced from abroad.

It doesn't say it's safe to eat undercooked pork.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Silly bitch. That's your friend of course, not you. She's obviously fond of food poisoning & parasites. Chicken, like pork should ALWAYS be cooked through 😐

WTAF! 🤮

@BabbysYed

I hope you reported the restaurant and left them a nice review.

I eat pink chicken, pork, lamb and beef, burgers etc and I've survived to be nearly 60. As for "horrible farming practices" in the UK compared to SE Asia you're having a laugh.

Kokeshi123 · 29/10/2018 00:07

Some restaurants in Japan do this. Insane. I refuse to eat it.

donajimena · 29/10/2018 14:46

derxa watch yourself. As we age we become a much more susceptible to food poisoning. Your gung ho attitude might bite you on the backside

doughnutgirl · 29/10/2018 14:49

never heard of this one before!!

limitedperiodonly · 29/10/2018 21:05

Chicken, like pork should ALWAYS be cooked through

This is crap RockinHippy

Though I'd agree that it's best to cook chicken until it's white all the way through, that's more because raw chicken is unpleasant to eat.

But pork farmed in Britain to EU standards does not contain parasites. Can people stop saying this? It is perfectly okay to eat pink pork. That's what I'll be eating on Christmas Day. If you are that scared of chicken or pork just don't eat it and take your chances with food poisoning in salad or rice
