to expect dh to tell me when he's having the last of anything in the cupboard?

Had a bit of a fall out with dh earlier, when he took the last ice cream out of the freezer and ate it. I asked him if it was the last one adn he said yes. I asked him if he thought it would have been nice to say it was the last one at the time to see if me or ds might want to share? I think that I usually will say 'I'm just about to have the last xxx, do you want any?' He then started being a real arse and has been over exagerating asking if he is 'allowed' to have anything. It does sound a bit petty, but it's happened before when I just get in the mood for a treat of something and go to the fridge / freezer / cupboard for said treat to find that they're all gone. AT least if you know there are none left, you don't get yourself in the mood for said treat!
I've come to the conclusion, sadly, that either I'm a bit of a control freak, or he is selfish and both of these things make me
Not really expecting replies, just wanted to get it off my chest as off to bed in a mo (I always have to do the mornings too. And we're both at work full time, so it's NOT FAIR!!)

I don't know but it is much worse having a dp who uses the last thing and doesn't tell you about it until questioned as you put away the shopping you've just done and realised that X packet is empty and it wasn't on the list!

newlifenewname · 16/06/2007 23:25

Sorry, that sounded diminishing of your woes. It's all crap, men are often selfish twunters. Made that way unfortunately.

Monkeybar · 16/06/2007 23:26

Grrr! How blooming annoying they are!!

No man in house to steal the precious ice creams

Although when there was a man in the house our tastes in the sweet department were different enough that running out of things was rarely an issue for the other individual

I think you ought to buy a bloody big tub/packet of something he doesn't like so you always have an emergency stash of yum in the freezer

of course you are being unreasonable. Its his job, as the male in your life, to annoy you in this way.

fransmom · 17/06/2007 22:57

always happens here so i started refusin gto buy biscuits etc until he learnt some manners

i went to do the washing up this evening when dd had gone to bed except.... there's no washing up liquid!!!!!

PavlovtheCat · 17/06/2007 22:59

well he did earlier but didn't say anthing about using the last of it when he knew i'd be going to the shop to swap some nappies for the correct size lol

NikkiBFG · 17/06/2007 23:02

I took the last of the ice cream the other night.....DH was not impressed but as I said to him you have been out with workmates for a meal, I've been at home with a poorly DS....I deserve the ice cream!!!

PavlovtheCat · 17/06/2007 23:02

But fran - he does the washing up! Even if DP uses the last of the washing up liquid, it means he is washing up in the first place....I would not dare complain to my dp or else he wont do it again!

bookwormmum · 17/06/2007 23:02

My OH routinely scoffs anything I leave in the fridge - it bugs the life out of me. Chocolate will not go off if it's left in the fridge unmolested for more than 5 seconds . He's such a greedy bugger at times, I've been known to hide my treats or carry them around with me so he can't scoff them before I do. I had to fly back from Spain last year on an empty stomach as he ate my breakfast when I was in the shower - he thought that I didn't want it!!

fransmom · 17/06/2007 23:03

i haven't complained when he gets uin

PavlovtheCat · 17/06/2007 23:03

Nikky - women always deserve the ice cream. Obviously.

fransmom · 17/06/2007 23:03

.............sneezing again

PavlovtheCat · 17/06/2007 23:04

bookworm - you poor thing. pmsl laughing. Sorry. You must have been starving. [splutters]

fransmom · 17/06/2007 23:04

when he gets in fromwork i shall tell him that iu could n't do the ashin cos there was nothing to wash it wiht

PavlovtheCat · 17/06/2007 23:05

My DP would not dare touch my treats.

OOOOOOH, talking of which. I just remembered....our fathers day pudding....yey!

lilolilmanchester · 17/06/2007 23:05

lilolilmanchester · 17/06/2007 23:05

oops, wasn't meant to be an apostrophe there!

NikkiBFG · 17/06/2007 23:06

My DH is very territorial with his sweets.....and the unfair thing is....

He doesn't gain weight!!!!!!!

bookwormmum · 17/06/2007 23:06

Well I wasn't Very Amused at the time but he hasn't done it since since I do get ratty unless I get regular meals but the chocolate is still fair game unless I hide it very well. It's worse than hiding sweets from kids since he can actually reach high shelves.

edam · 17/06/2007 23:10

Dh is like this, drives me mad. Grrrrl, it's so very rude. Although he does actually ask me to hide the biscuits/chocolate as he just can't be trusted. I run out of bloody hiding places, though, esp. as he is six inches taller than me. I'd hide things at floor level but then ds would find and scoff them!
