AIBU to be scared to go to London!

I have only been to London once and that was with a city savvy friend who had planned everything.

I have just purchased Fleetwood Mac tickets for Wembley for my DP and now I have no clue what to do.

I will be staying in a hotel in NW2. So I need to get a train to Paddington Stop H? What is this Stop H? How many stops are in Paddington, is it not just one station?

I am worried because I have bad anxiety about things like this. Does anyone care to plan my trip!?

Stop H would indicate that it's a bus stop I think. It could be that you need a bus for part of your journey or that there is a rail replacement bus service on that day. Which part of your journey is telling you that? Have you used the tfl journey planner?

Childrenofthesun · 24/10/2018 10:44

Stop H sounds like a bus stop. Are you staying by Paddington station or is there another tube station close by? You can get to Wembley Park on the Jubilee or metropolitan lines I think, or Wembley Central on the Bakerloo line.

Disquieted1 · 24/10/2018 10:45

Are you asking the process for getting off a train, walking to the exit and getting in a taxi?

PickettBowtruckles · 24/10/2018 10:45

What hotel are you staying at? As above use the tfl journey planner and it should make it really simple for you :)

butterflysugarbaby · 24/10/2018 10:45

Could you not just get a taxi?

MsRinky · 24/10/2018 10:45

Stop H sounds like a bus stop, not the train. And Paddington is nowhere near either Wembley or NW2.

How are you getting to London? The TFL journey planner is really helpful.

Awaytome · 24/10/2018 10:45

Give us hotel address and destination and we can look it up on TFL journey planner for you. You can do this yourself also.

SushiMonster · 24/10/2018 10:45
  1. download citymapper
  2. use that to plan all travel in london and follow the instructions
butterflysugarbaby · 24/10/2018 10:46

I mean a taxi from your hotel to the venue?

Awaytome · 24/10/2018 10:46

Paddington is W2, so not where the hotel is.

LifesABeachCoaster · 24/10/2018 10:46

I am staying in Cricklewood Broadway in NW2. I will look at the tfl journey planner, not heard of that!

I am toying with the idea of driving or is that a ridiculous idea? I have heard horror stories of London traffic being hard to navigate but this isn't in the heart of London is it?

if an adult has the capacity to buy concert tickets, they should have the capacity to look some up a journey on citymapper or tfl (not as good as CM)

Awaytome · 24/10/2018 10:47

No, don't drive.

Awaytome · 24/10/2018 10:47

Are you arriving into Paddington via train?

Would you not be better staying in Wembley? You could drive there pretty easily then you don’t have to go into CL at all?
Agree with others though use city mapper, it’s very easy to use

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 24/10/2018 10:48

Which hotel you staying at? Or if you dont want to say, whats the nearest underground station? Wembley is on the Jubilee and the Met line, just get to it via the underground, will be simple.

Abra1de · 24/10/2018 10:48

Just get an Uber.

LifesABeachCoaster · 24/10/2018 10:48

I have just looked at TFL journey planner and thats amazing. I am concerned about getting on buses etc and missing stops.

Dreading this now. There is a bus after the concert back to the hotel but that will be scary, not really knowing where I am going, are taxi's super expensive?

Driving would be much more stressful than getting public transport. parking is a pain in the arse even without the driving, which is, um, vigorous.

Won't you DP be with you?

Puggles123 · 24/10/2018 10:50

Where are you travelling from? It sounds like you will come into Paddington, and then there are several ways to get to Wembley; there are buses that go directly from outside Paddington Station (Little Venice) which I would guess this is referring to- tfl.gov.uk/bus/timetable/18/?direction=inbound. You could also get the underground but you would have to change.

YANBU to be nervous, but there are always plenty of transport staff about at stations, and buses and tubes leave extremely frequently so don’t need to get too hung up on planning times. If you aren’t used to the transport system I would recommend making sure you leave in plenty of time though, it can get very busy and you’ll have a less stressful journey. It will be worth it though, enjoy!

Paddington is a rather large train and underground station. When you get off the train, follow signs for the underground. You'll probably be taking the Bakerloo line up north a bit. It's a brown coloured line. So the signs will say Bakerloo, with a brown line underneath. Follow those signs and take the north bound tube to the nearest tube station to your hotel.

AngeloMysterioso · 24/10/2018 10:51

What’s so scary about getting on a bus?
