To ask Mumsnet to diagnose me?

Because I give up and feel I'm banging my head on a wall.

I know you can't actually diagnose but if this sounds familiar to anyone I would be grateful for help!

I've not felt 'well' for over a year but the last few months I have felt really really poorly. All the time. Some days it's a fight to get up for work.Utterly exhausted.

A few weeks ago I started to have occassional hand tremors both lifting things which I know isn't much to worry about but resting also.
I also have weakness in that arm. There are three stacked pans on the stove. I can lift them easy with my right but not my left.
Doctor said my left hand is weaker because I don't write with it ..

Dizziness so bad I have to lie down, stiff joins, intermittent blurred vision, pins and needles, poor balance, migranes, forgetfulness and much much more.

I'm on B12 jabs already but tested negative for pernicious anemia. Doctor says I can't still be B12 deficient as you can't be deficient on jabs...

Help!

It’s a really bad idea to ask for diagnosis like this.

Your best bet is to see a different GP if you don’t have confidence in the one you’re seeing now.

ISpeakJive · 23/10/2018 19:55

I take it you’ve had all the blood tests and ruled things out?

I’m not a doctor but it sounds neurological.

springmachine · 23/10/2018 19:55

Or possibly to do with thyroid?

Woeme · 23/10/2018 19:56

I've tried Purple. We are in a village with one doctor and occassional locums.
I tried to get a place at the next nearest doctors but was told I was out of range.
I know people can't diagnose but I was hoping someone with B12 issues might come along and say yeh that's what I'm like it's the B12 or similar. Just to reassure if nothing else :(

There are lots of things it could be but you’ll just get panicked by the replies here and no one really knows. I recommend going to another doctor who takes your symptoms seriously. If there’s still no result, another doctor. Strangers on the internet will only worry you more. Sending you good thoughts 💐

Cathmidston · 23/10/2018 20:00

Try drinking more water. It really could be as simple as that. At least 2 litres a day. Tea and coffee do NOT count... just try it for a week and see if you feel any better. Your body’s many cries for water is a really good book if you need the inspiration to persevere x

Echo the ‘shouldn’t diagnose on the internet’ advice, but perhaps push for checks for MS & have a look at this:

www.nhs.uk/conditions/multiple-sclerosis/symptoms/

Also definitely try & see someone else if you can - with a list and don’t play down any of the symptoms, plus list everything, including things you think might not be relevant. Good luck Flowers

PurpleDaisies · 23/10/2018 20:01

This is why you shouldn’t trust Mumsnet for medical advice.

Cathmidston · 23/10/2018 20:02

And also consider iodine supplements... ludols iodine for instance. Many people are deficient without realising x

Cathmidston · 23/10/2018 20:03

Yes purpleDaisies becUse suggesting someone TRY drinking more water is really dangerous isn’t it Hmm

cardibach · 23/10/2018 20:05

The water th8ng is crap. Ignore that. The 2l you need come mostly from food. Tea and coffee do count anyway. And slight dehydration wouldn’t account for your symptoms. Anything more than slight dehydration would mean you would be thirsty and solve it by drinking...
Some sort of chronic fatigue? Friends of mine with fibromyalgia have similar symptoms at times.

PurpleDaisies · 23/10/2018 20:07

It will make no difference to the op Cath. I’m guessing you’re not a doctor. Not being dangerous is a pretty low bar to set for treatment advice. Hmm

Cathmidston · 23/10/2018 20:08

Well cardibach I was chronically tired, brain fog etc and increasing my water intake to at least 2 litres worked for me

Celebelly · 23/10/2018 20:08

Have you been checked for Lyme Disease?

LavenderBush · 23/10/2018 20:08

It does sound neurological to me and I really think you should find a GP who will investigate properly.

Disclaimer: I'm a random stranger on the internet with no medical training. Hope you find a proper doctor x

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 23/10/2018 20:12

Well, I can think of a long list of things to diagnose you with. Because I regularly watch Casualty, whilst MNing.

Go to another doctor. They are probably a better bet than Holby Cityme.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 23/10/2018 20:12

Well, that was a strikethrough fail Blush.

Labradoodliedoodoo · 23/10/2018 20:16

How often do you have the b12 injections. There are some B12 Facebook group pages. Some people need more regular b12 injections then offered by the NHS. They can be bought privately through high street clinics in the uk. Also some people buy over the counter b12 injection goods direct from Germany and self inject. Lots of advice and support around all these issues. Lastly high dose folic acid can increase absorption of b12 while gluten may decrease.

mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 23/10/2018 20:17

Probably best to ask to be referred to a neurologist so they can tell you whether there is anything going on or not. A GP is not terrifically likely to do all the tests a neurologist would do to investigate these symptoms. Also, check your vitamin D level as low vit D (very common these days) can cause lots of neuro symptoms and certainly makes one feel very tired (personal experience).

Labradoodliedoodoo · 23/10/2018 20:18

Also what the nhs consider to be an ok level of b12 is actually considered too low in other countries

LynetteScavo · 23/10/2018 20:18

I think you'd be better off asking for recommendations for a good private doctor. And I wouldn't usually recommend going private.

It could be MS, it couple be fibromyalgia. It could be many things Confused

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 23/10/2018 20:19

Sorry to hear you are unwell. I’d ask to see a locum if possible.

As a last resort- Do you have private healthcare? Could you afford to see a private gp & then get referred on health insurance?

Ansumpasty · 23/10/2018 20:19

I second Lyme. Any tick bitses in the past year or so?

PurpleDaisies · 23/10/2018 20:21

Im interested to know whether the posters suggesting diagnoses (particularly the much more serious ones) are doctors?
