I can't stand not having anything to listen to when I'm working/ doing housework.

I usually catch up on Corrie/eastenders etc (I know the voices so well I don't have to watch ) but feel like podcasts would be better!

I've not listened to any since Russell Brand's 5 million years ago.

Help!

No Such Thing As A Fish is brilliant. Hosted by four of the QI researchers and writers, it’s full of facts and is very entertaining. The only podcast to have ever made me laugh out loud, it’s my favourite by far Smile

DailyMailWankers · 22/10/2018 15:32

RHLSTP (Richard Herring) and the Adam Buxton podcast.

The guilty feminist
Ipm
The news quiz extra

Poodles1980 · 22/10/2018 16:14

The high low
Scummy mummies
My dad wrote a porno - this series in particular is hilarious.

CraicMammy · 22/10/2018 16:17

Have any of you heard Joan and Jericha? It’s Julia Davis and Vicki Pepperdine; obscenely funny! (Not suitable for little’s ears tho)

redexpat · 22/10/2018 16:26

Oh god yes Joan and Jerricha is fabulous!

Alieeeeeens · 22/10/2018 17:03

My dad wrote a porno for sure 😂

DoctorTwo · 22/10/2018 18:20

Flintoff, Savage and The Ping Pong Guy

magpie24 · 22/10/2018 18:50

This American Life
Serial (not particularly light but compelling)

Lizsmum · 22/10/2018 18:52

Another vote for Fortunately

BasiliskStare · 22/10/2018 18:53

Matt and Matt James Bonding is very funny ( but only if you like James Bond) - a hoot if you do

HappilyHarridan · 22/10/2018 19:04

The Guilty Feminist

Creepyexgirlfriend · 22/10/2018 19:13

High Low
Adam Buxton
Marc Maron

Cornettoninja · 22/10/2018 19:26

I like pen pals at the moment - excellent theme tune too!

BehemothPullsThePeasantsPlough · 22/10/2018 19:27

Rule of Three is rather good: comedians talking about classic comedy
I’m staggered no one has mentioned Kermode And Mayo film podcast yet - the ultimate in friendly chatter
More or Less is good for the mathematically inclined but very light in tone.

Cautionsharpblade · 22/10/2018 19:35

@BertrandRussell we’re practically podcast twins! Love Comedian’s Comedian, the extras are great too

I’d add All Killa No Filla

ScandiNoir · 22/10/2018 19:45

Another one who loves Fortunately with Fi and Jane. I listen to it walking the dog and am often cackling out loud in the woods!

PositiveVibez · 22/10/2018 19:51

Athletico Mince.

It's supposedly about football. But it isn't. It's Bob Mortimer and Andy Dawson and it makes me cry with laughter some weeks.

ScurrilousSquirrel · 22/10/2018 19:51

Have you listened to Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness (he of Queer Eye fame)? He talks to experts on a subject for 30 minutes and is the most charming, flirtatious host. Another I enjoy is Table Manners with Jessie Ware. She and her mum host various celebs for dinner, like Alan Carr or Yotam Ottolenghi. Definitely light and funny.

CraicMammy · 22/10/2018 20:19

I love JVN and Getting Curious is brilliant, especially the episodes with the rest of the Fab 5. I am a Queer Eye obsessive though.

If you don’t mind three white men talking about stuff, and laughing too hard at their jokes, The The One Show Show is amusing.

If you’re a child of the Eighties, “Always There” is surprising entertaining, given that it’s and episode by episode review of Howard’s Way.

Can you tell I have insomnia?!

AckYourHole · 22/10/2018 20:26

The Blindboy Podcasts and The Horne Section. Love both of these.

chaoscategorised · 22/10/2018 20:44

Another vote for: More or Less, The Modern Mann, No Such Thing as a Fish and The High Low.

Depending on how old you are, The School for Dumb Women is very very funny, but squarely aimed at millennial women and probably not very accessible to anyone outside that group! Sawbones is a show about weird medical things through the ages, funny and easy listening. Sexy History is about weird history things through the ages and it's GREAT. Or if you like science and Brian Cox, the Infinite Monkey Cage is funny and has great guests (Brian Blessed being my personal favourite).

DoctorTwo · 22/10/2018 21:00

Oh gosh @PositiveVibez I'd forgotten about Athletico Mince. Bob Mortimer is a comedy genius.

Fredthefrog · 22/10/2018 21:05

Just stated listening to podcasts. Very funny one called 2 Mr ps in a podcast
Both work in schools so some is about teaching but lots of funny 90s nostalgia as well.

NoSquirrels · 22/10/2018 21:09

@youmeandlittlep
A few weeks ago there was a thread about a true crime podcast that a lot of mumsnetters swore by but I can't find the thread anywhere.

I bet that will have been Serial (season 1). It’s an amazing cold case investigation. I’ve skis just listened to Teacher’s Pet which is similar, but not as good as Serial.
