2 slices naice ham from deli
1 tomato
1 hard boiled egg
A spoonful of coleslaw
3 slices beetroot
Sprinkling of grated cheese over the tomato

Are we talking 300 or 600 here?

Totally depends on what kind of Coleslaw it is (& what size spoon) and the actual weight of the cheese.

SD1978 · 21/10/2018 13:39

It's crap when you think you've eaten the right thing, to find it's still high calorie. As others have said- more green, egg or ham, not both.

BigRoundPumpkin · 21/10/2018 13:44

Salad 🥗 = tomato, cucumber, lettuce, celery, maybe some olives for flavour, peppers. All v low in calories :)

When you start adding ham, cheese, coleslaw etc... the calories shoot up (especially with the cheese!) - suddenly not so low in calories :(

I find that olives, seasoning, celery and raw onion / spring onion help give my salads a bit of punch, without the calories building up :)

redsummershoes · 21/10/2018 13:47

it's probably around 500 ish. doesn't sound very substantial though, I would feel hungry soon after. maybe some more veg (grated carrot, extra tom, sweetcorn, peas) instead of coleslaw next time

walk sounds good, it's beautiful today.

Cherries101 · 21/10/2018 14:12

600

Dhapeer · 21/10/2018 14:44

The coleslaw was just a normal dinner spoon you get in any cutlery set. The cheese was where I just pulled out a bit from the packet with my finger tips

Google is telling me an egg is 150 calories and the slices of ham 99 calories. Bit surprised at the egg!

redsummershoes · 21/10/2018 14:46

an egg, just boiled without any extra oil is about 60cal.

CutesyUserName · 21/10/2018 14:46

I'd agree with @dollywild. Around 450-550 cals.

MrsJayy · 21/10/2018 14:50

It is not lardy jesus bloody wept wtf are people eating if they think a bit of ham and cheese is lardy !

AlexanderHamilton · 21/10/2018 14:52

An egg depending on the size is about 70 calories

Dhapeer · 21/10/2018 14:53

Ok so,

Ham 99 x 2 = 198
Egg 75 (to be on the safe side)
Coleslaw - 80
Cheese - 70

I'm not counting the beetroot or tomatoes though I'm sure they have calories.

Total 423.

Ham will be much lower than that (as long as it’s lean)

Runnynosehunny · 21/10/2018 14:55

I'm just about to eat this salad for my dinner.

how many calories in this salad?
Dhapeer · 21/10/2018 14:55

Ye it was lean. Well a little fat at the edges which I removed because I hate fat.
Egg was just a medium egg.

Not too bad I guess. But you'd imagine lower. Or I would have.

Dhapeer · 21/10/2018 14:56

PMSL runnynosehunny. Buon appetito!

MrsStrowman · 21/10/2018 14:56

Ditch the cheese and coleslaw, have some leaves and cucumber and some low cal dressing instead with the ham, beetroot, tomato and egg if you want a low cal salad.

Sallygoroundthemoon · 21/10/2018 14:57

Just ran it through MFP and it says 450. That's being generous with the cheese and coleslaw. Ffs it's not remotely lardy!

Dhapeer · 21/10/2018 14:57

That's gotta be hitting 1000 kcals I'd say?

OP posts:
Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 21/10/2018 14:58

It's a bit lardy, oh ffs.

Galvantula · 21/10/2018 16:07

Pretty sure the lardy comment was a joke... Seeking as it mentioned dust. 😏

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 21/10/2018 16:12

No it didn't
It suggested replacing with nuts herbs and spring onions.

MyDcAreMarvel · 21/10/2018 16:14

That’s 400 max not 600 !

MrsJayy · 21/10/2018 16:14

The dust and lentils was a reply to herbs and rasins...

PickAChew · 21/10/2018 16:16

Unless those ham slices were really thick and you eat you meals with ladles, it's closer to 400. I have a pack of sainsburys organic ham in the fridge and it's 124kcal per 100g with 3 slices in the packet.

If you're calorie counting, you're best off weighing stuff and checking labels until you're really confident. This thread has illustrated just how little idea many people have of the calorie content of food.
