Posting for traffic, sorry. About a week ago I felt as though there was something unusual in my tummy. I did a preg test, negative. The squidgy mass is still there and tonight as I was lying on my back I prodded my tummy quite firmly and then felt a lot of movement. If it were a baby it would be about 4 months, but I have done the test plus have had periods, albeit a bit light. Any idea what it might be other than a baby? I am thinking gas but it was a lot of movement. I was also woken up by a movement a few days ago. Thank you.

See a doctor.

EspressoPatronum · 20/10/2018 20:57

I'd maybe go to the doctors and ask about getting a scan??
I know false negatives are a lot more common than false positives with pregnancy tests...

InkyGrail · 20/10/2018 20:57

I don't want to alarm you but are you familiar with Ridley Scott's Alien?

StormCloudsDoClear · 20/10/2018 20:58

Monster tape worm?! Alien baby implanted by marshals from the planet Morgazog?!

But honestly I've no idea you will have to speak to a GP

Happygummibear · 20/10/2018 20:58

There have been ladies pregnant with period and negative tests.... it is possible...

You have done a pregnancy test so I am assuming you think it may be possible?

I would get yourself checked...

Shadow1986 · 20/10/2018 21:00

I get this - it’s just gas and food etc moving around isn’t it? I’ve noticed it more since I’ve been thinner can feel and see things moving in my tummy quite easily. I’m 100% not pregnant.

student26 · 20/10/2018 21:00

Depending on how far along you are, if pregnant, tests can show as negative.

ShawshanksRedemption · 20/10/2018 21:00

If you have had unprotected sex, go and see a GP. In fact, just see the GP as we on Mumsnet really have no idea!

HollowTalk · 20/10/2018 21:01

But a baby wouldn't be a squidgy mess, would it? It would be firm.

HollowTalk · 20/10/2018 21:02

I knew it! I knew it!

And I am also imagining a tape worm which has grown arms and legs and now wants to Get Out.

hollowtalk I don't know, I have had a baby but when pregnant never pressed my tummy. I am not sure how it should feel at 4 months. I feel like a bit of an idiot. I will do another test and then think about seeing a doctor.

I think a baby would feel like a firm ball at 4-5 months

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 20/10/2018 21:23

Any unexplained mass should be looked at by a doctor. Either it will be non-serious and easily sorted which will be a huge relief, or you will be referred early for treatment (which always seems to make a big difference- nobody wants to hear that it could have been fixed if only they'd seen a doctor straight away). Or you'll have more notice toy find a nice pram.

See a doctor soon.

notangelinajolie · 20/10/2018 21:25

What did you have for tea?

AdoraBell · 20/10/2018 21:28

See your GP.

HollowTalk · 20/10/2018 21:28

You never pressed your stomach when you were pregnant? I don't think I did anything else!

AliceRR · 20/10/2018 21:30

Obviously you need to see a professional but hope everything is ok!

MyOtherProfile · 20/10/2018 21:30

How long have you been feeling this?

isthisaminime · 20/10/2018 21:33

About a week, myother

hollowtalk i was too terrified of hurting him! He would love a brother or sister. But with him it was all normal, pregnancy test after a missed period, so I am trying not to get hopes up.

My mum was almost 7 months pregnant with me by the time she realised. Had had very light periods and assumed she was menopausal. Grin Just saying.

wouldHAVEshouldHAVEcouldHAVE · 20/10/2018 21:43

My tummy moves by itself when I eat wheat and get horrifically bloated.
Hasn’t happened for a while as I avoid wheat these days!

LuluJakey1 · 20/10/2018 21:44

Alternatively, after I had gallstones, I had terrible bloating and wriggly wind for weeks.
