New born baby, off to the park, if course I'll wear my LBD and heels....

In that third pic she looks like she’s pushing the pram away. Maybe that’s the point.

noeffingidea · 20/10/2018 09:37

You never see anyone dressed like this during the daytime where I live, with or without the pram. It' very unusual to see a woman in high heels at all. The woman in the advert looks like she's dressed for a night out.

AstralTraveller · 20/10/2018 09:55

This ads are brilliantly funny. They look like they are seriously considering rolling the pram into the river and doing a bunk!

LavendarGreen · 20/10/2018 10:10

Yep I agree. No-one dresses like this at ALL unless they're going clubbing, or to a wedding.

Reminds me of EVA from Corrie who was always dressed like she was going to a wedding or an Awards Night. Even when she was at work, or just walking around the street.

Gorgeous girl, but did dress OTT ...

I think to say that no one at all dresses like this is a little bit closed minded. In my culture (gypsy/traveller) it's very common

Gogogadetmumoftwo · 20/10/2018 10:17

The Hollywood edition Confused! These were clearly all imagined by a man (and one who isn’t a parent himself!). I have no words!

Chingchok · 20/10/2018 10:19

Not unusual at all to dress like this in Bangkok, even if you have a newborn baby. In fact you’re very rarely overdressed in this city!

Notjustanyone · 20/10/2018 10:19

Where I live the babies are strapped to the mums until puberty and the mothers wear posh dog walking gear. No one owns a pram or pushchair I don't think which is a shame really because the Chelsea tractors they drive are perfect for fitting prams and/or dogs.

fourcorneredcircle · 20/10/2018 10:20

I live in an area with lots of Irish travelers, the women always look this glam, and having given birth in the same hospital as them, that includes straight after birth.

GulliverUnravels · 20/10/2018 10:26

I see many women dressed like this in the days after giving birth when I do community midwifery visits because we have a large population from outside the UK and as PP have said there's often a cultural expectation - and a nanny. Admittedly I see them at home, not in the park, but I did bump into one woman dressed like this in the supermarket 3 days postnatally, pushing a full shopping trolley! Who needs a pelvic floor anyway eh?

Stillwishihadabs · 20/10/2018 10:30

Op i think you mean no middle class white women dress like this

LavendarGreen · 20/10/2018 10:36

Ok, no-one I KNOW dresses like this just to pop to the shops. And basically, they would only dress like this for a wedding, or a gala, or some kind of ceremony. People don't dress like this otherwise.... certainly not where I live.

But then I do live in an upper-middle class/upper class area. So maybe that's why I never see women dressed like this as their everyday attire.

There is no way in hell that they are comfortable dressing this way, with those ridiculous heels on. So why dress like this? Who are they trying to impress, and what are they trying to prove?

Sadly, I think this is true. There is a lot more pressure on women from some cultures.

Stillwishihadabs · 20/10/2018 10:42

I think possibly a generational thing too ( DMs and combats anyone ?- vive me grunge)

Stillwishihadabs · 20/10/2018 10:46

Grin

This is how I thought I would look on maternity leave, thought being the key word Grin

Knittedfairies · 20/10/2018 11:19

What classy nannies...

noeffingidea · 20/10/2018 11:33

OP I think you mean no middle class white women dress like this I don't think it's a class thing, though you might be right about the race. Most people are from a working class background in my town, and hardly anyone dresses like this during the day. Everyone wears leggings/skinny jeans/tracksuits, with flat shoes. More variation during the summer, but still flat shoes. We do actually have traveller sites in the area, but you still don't see people dressing in this style.

SheSparkles · 20/10/2018 11:35

New mothers not taking the time and effort to dress like this is why this country is going to the dogs!!

Says she still in pjs at 11:30, amd can’t even blame young kids as they’re 16 and 21 😂(years, not months!)

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 20/10/2018 11:52

Victoria Beckham. That’s the only person I could imagine doing this.

dressup · 20/10/2018 12:22

People do, I have never seen my friend in anything less than 4 inch hill no matter what stage of pregnancy she's in or the weather!

placemats · 20/10/2018 12:38

It reminds me of the women who give out the weather on the news or even those women who present the news. Always dressed like they are going out on a New Year's Eve party.

Rebecca36 · 20/10/2018 12:57

What's an LBD?

I spent the first few weeks after giving birth hardly ever getting dressed and half asleep; when I absolutely had to go out, threw on anything. However I have seen beautifully dressed and well groomed new mums, don't know how they do it frankly.

agree

When i do the school run one of my daughters classmates mother is like this. She looks fabulous but her high heels make me think ouch.

If my sister was still alive i think she would have been one of them she believed when she went out she should look and feel her best.

Seafoodeatit · 20/10/2018 13:21

I know people like this because I'm related to them, image is everything. I was told quite a few times that if I didn't smarten up and make more effort my husband would look elsewhere, ditto the baby weight. I would say oh it's out spite but to them this is what you should be worried about! The same women also asked how I could cope with waking up with 2 under 2 and still keep up with husbands libido. It's all really quite sad.
