Right in the middle of shop.

It's awful I feel so ashamed wtf is going on?

I can jump on a trampoline, run, so star jumps, I don't leak. Yet when I need a wee I'm desperate, it's like so warning I go from thinking oh I need a wee to crossing my legs in desperation to struggling to walk.

Got in the car in completely wet pants and cried. I just couldn't stop it. My children are 5&7z

Wtf I'm only 35.

You should probably see the GP

SlightDark · 19/10/2018 21:59

Yes to gp

Yonijust · 19/10/2018 21:59

?

flossietoot · 19/10/2018 22:00

Book a doctors appointment. This happened to a friend of mine and it was something to do with spasms but all resolved.

MrsCatE · 19/10/2018 22:00

Bloody hell woman, you've given birth to two dully formed humans! Go easy on yourself!!! Were you cathetered? X

Tahani · 19/10/2018 22:04

Why post here and not just go to the go? That's not normal

Tahani · 19/10/2018 22:04

Gp

MadameMaxGoesler · 19/10/2018 22:05

Detrusor instability? Also known as urge incontinence and sometimes called 'key in the door syndrome'. Made worse by alcohol and caffeine. I have it as the result of nerve damage after two ruptured discs and surgery.

EleanorLavish · 19/10/2018 22:08

Tahani because it’s 10pm on a Friday, OP can’t exactly ‘go to the GP’ now can she?
I imagine the OP wants to see if anyone else is suffering similar.
I don’t get that extreme urgency OP, but I do feel i need to go to the loo more frequently, as though I can’t hold as much as I did before I gave birth to 3 giants (2 were just under 11lbs!!).
Definitely arrange to see a GP soon.
I have deffo had sudden insets if leakage though, sudden sneeze etc, and thought, shit!Grin
I am impressed that you can go on a trampoline, my fanny feels loose just looking at one.

maddjess · 19/10/2018 22:10

I posted because for years I've always thought I had a shit pelvic floor. But had a chat with my friends this evening and they said it wasn't normal, that they struggle to jump, star jump, trampoline without leaking. But they don't have the urgency I have.i never leak when exercising. It's the urgency that just takes over

So got me thinking it isn't normal, I was thinking all woman struggled with pelvic floor but it's not pelvic floor weakness I think now?

It's called urge incontinence and is quite common for women after having had babies. There's a variety of causes. Pop to your gp and they'll investigate and hopefully get it sorted. Try not to stress as that could make it worse. Easier said than done I know.

AmIRightOrAMeringue · 19/10/2018 22:12

I think there are different type of pelvic floor exercises you can do - the long squeezes and short ones, I may be wrong but I thought both were needed and short busts were good for this?

I also find drinking too much or not enough (kind of over or under hydrated) isn't good for this and it gets worse if I have alcohol caffeine even green tea, or things like fruit juice. I think some people find spicy food bad as well.

Maybe try keeping a food and drink diary?

MrsVietor · 19/10/2018 22:20

@Tahani by that logic, why did you reply?

Oh yeah, because it's a chat forum where women talk about stuff and support each other.

maddjess · 19/10/2018 22:24

Thanks so much everyone.

Funnily enough I had a couple of glasses of wine last night for first time in a month.
The urgency has been there for years but nothing like today.

I sneeze freely without any probs

You are not alone, I have urge in continence and have pretty much has to give up caffine and alcohol, as these make it worse (am a similar age with similar aged kids, also no stress incontinence).
GP referred me to woman's physio who were every helpful in understanding it and there are pelvic floor exercises that help, alongside lifestyle changes and techniques to cope with the anxiety that accompanies the desperate feeling.

Physio also thought my bladder had learned to ignore the first signals saying 'you need a wee', so the first I would know of it would be that desperate feeling, and there are things you can do to 'retrain' your bladder in this situation.

Hope your GP is helpful and I would definitely recommended asking for women's health physio referral. Good luck x

WrongSideOfHistory · 20/10/2018 00:36

That's interesting. I've experienced times when I've not felt desperate to go to the loo but once I get into the cubicle I can hardly control it. I was hoping that this is psychological rather than physiological...

LadyB49 · 20/10/2018 01:09

Me too. I'd go the toilet in every shop so my bladder was kept empty. GP told me this made the problem worse as I was training it to not hold What it shou ld. I was referred to the Incontinence Clinic. Awful name. The nurse was brilliant.

DramaAlpaca · 20/10/2018 01:11

See your GP.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 20/10/2018 02:45

I'm, 29, no children and am completely housebound due to a fear or wetting myself because i get these urges. When every step you take you feel your bladder is going to just let go, when a second before you didn't even need a wee.
I take oxybutinin, it makes the bladder nerves less sensitive, and it does help to some extent. But then i also have OCD about germs so to me, its not just embarrassing if i had an accident it would be end of the world devastating and i just wouldn't cope. Actually have PTSD from the last time i tried going out and was on the verge of accident but just got home in time, not been out since Feb, i hope you find a solution that works for you.

Fatasfook · 20/10/2018 03:00

Gp, Tena lady and pelvic floor for you

LunaTheCat · 20/10/2018 03:21

See your GP - need to make sure no urinary tract infection. It sounds like urge incontinance rather than stress incontinance (jumping on trampoline) . Happened to me the first time a couple weeks ago and I haven’t had any kids!

Unicyclethief · 20/10/2018 03:22

Menopause?

Biancadelriosback · 20/10/2018 07:30

I've wet myself a lot. It's horribly embarrassing but it I can be doing something perfectly normal and then I have to wee. I've begged staff in shops to let me use their staff toilets before (couple of times I've been permitted, twice when refused I lost control of my bladder and wet myself a little bit). It's absolutely awful!

All those saying "go see the GP", know what mine always says? Just make sure you go to the toilet before you leave somewhere (home/work etc).
I don't even drink much now to avoid the embarrassment.

QueenEnid · 20/10/2018 07:42

Definitely go to the gp and get a referral to the continence clinic.
I've been referred as I don't have a sudden urge to go but do get leaking. The nurse was fantastic and said that they are actually 2 separate issues so it's likely that your pelvic muscles for controlling your bladder are weak.

Don't worry OP. It happens. No need to be embarrassed. It's an easy problem to rectify if you seek help x
