Right in the middle of shop.

It's awful I feel so ashamed wtf is going on?

I can jump on a trampoline, run, so star jumps, I don't leak. Yet when I need a wee I'm desperate, it's like so warning I go from thinking oh I need a wee to crossing my legs in desperation to struggling to walk.

Got in the car in completely wet pants and cried. I just couldn't stop it. My children are 5&7z

Wtf I'm only 35.

@Biancadelriosback you need to ask your GP for a referral to the continence clinic. The response you've had is completely disgraceful, wrong and unnecessary

Pinkyyy · 20/10/2018 07:48

Very insensitive of those who say this is 'not normal'. Incontinence affects millions of people. Don't worry OP there will be a solution for you, really feel for youFlowers

Yep, it's urge incontinence/ over active bladder. The immediate issue can be treated with medication - oxybutynin. It gives you a dry mouth but a stay helps with that and the medication really works. Then a good women's health physio can help retrain your bladder and help your pelvic floor (there's different pelvic floor issues related to different continence issues).

You do not have to suffer! Something can be done.

The medication and physio made my life bearable again.

There is commonly two types of incontinence, both very common after childbirth.

Stress incontinence - what your friends are describing with trampolines and sneezes

Urge incontinence - what you are experiencing

Some people get one or the other, some people get both, some people get neither.

Like a PP I was referred to physio via my gp. I had 3 or 4 sessions and it made a world of difference. They do much more than just tell you to squeeze, they can isolate exactly what's causing the weakness and give you targeted excersises to help. In my case it involved leaning my back flat against a wall and holding a squat there for a few seconds. The physio also manipulated my hip, as she noticed they were out of line which was causing my bladder to tip (this didn't hurt but made an instant difference)

So, yup it's mortifying, but it's also common and surprisingly treatable, so please don't let it ruin your weekend.

@Queenenid I've been back and forth many times over the last few years. It became so much worse once I had DS but the response then was just "oh its very common after pregnancy"

I think by “not normal” previous posters meant this isn’t something you should just accept. I agree that seeing a GP/specialist physio is needed.

I know you can’t get a “can’t wait” card for bowel problems, that’s meant to make it easier to get access to a toilet. Might be worth investigating.

WrongSideOfHistory it may well be psychological. My physio helped me retrain my brain AND my bladder. Things like getting to the bathroom, sitting on the edge of the bath (pants off) then saying the alphabet backwards before going to the loo. It really helped.

OP - caffeine, alcohol, fruit juice and fizzy drinks make the issue worse. My physio asked me to keep a record of fluid in and urine out, so be prepared for that. A 'good' wee should be more than 450ml, I was frequently desperate (and leaking) at 150ml.

Drink plenty of clear fluid, counter intuitive but vital.
