AIBU to buy snobby car?

I know I'm going to get absolutely flogged for posting this, but I genuinely want your opinions (please be gentle!). Here is my first world problem....

AIBU to buy a second hand (3 years old) Audi or Range Rover because I am a snob and like nice cars or should I buy a brand new Kia or Vauxhall?

Currently have a 3 year old Audi Q5 which I bought new, but I now need more seats so am after a 7 seater.

What would you do? AIBU to buy a second hand car when I could buy a new one, just not a flash one?

Confused

I wouldn’t buy a used Audi or RR in Australia unless I was fine with spending a fortune on parts. Even if the money isn’t a problem, the wait time for parts can be unpleasant.

I’d also point out technology in cars is changing rather fast, so while the ‘snobby’ car might have nicer leather and trim, the new car is more likely to have updated safety features, better driver assist etc.

Snobby car. Ffs

Get the Audi Q7
Not snobby but nice to drive

tillytrotter1 · 18/10/2018 13:31

How disappointing, I thought it would be a Maserati or something actually interesting!

Mightymousie · 18/10/2018 13:32

I understood that it was better value to not buy a car new as the moment you purchase it it devalues hugely.
That said what is snobby about an Audi or Range Rover? Audi’s round here are all driven by drug dealers and Range Rovers are fine in the countryside if you need a 4x4 but otherwise they are completely unnecessary and bad for the environment. Neither is a snobby choice.

Quality over new for me always

LaurieMarlow · 18/10/2018 13:42

I'd never buy a car new as it's been drummed into me what a dumb financial move that is.

I'd never buy a Range Rover either as they're expensive to run and totally unnecessary for most people. Maybe an Audi, they are nice cars, though fast usurping bmws as the car of choice for fuckwits.

My ideal car is a mini though, I'm not into flash boys toys.

FeralBeryl · 18/10/2018 13:44

Get an older Q7 or a Mercedes 7 seater. Range Rovers are dickheads.
To simulate owning one - drive along throwing tenners out your car window every day ad infinitum.

ScottishMummy12 · 18/10/2018 13:55

Wouldn’t buy an Audi tbh we have had 2 and both had nothing but problems and were expensive to get fixed. I would look at a Volvo that has been the best car we have.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 18/10/2018 14:02

My LR Discovery has 7 seats are people confusing them with the RR?

Gromance02 · 18/10/2018 14:06

I wouldn't know what a 'snobby car' was. You can't gage how much money someone has from their car - unless it is a £200k Bentley or somat.

MilkItTilITurnItIntoCheese · 18/10/2018 16:11

I have an Audi Q7 up for sale if you’re interested. Bit older than you’re looking for though! Fab car - I just don’t need 7 seats any more.

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/10/2018 16:14

Brand new literally drop in value the minute you drive them off the forecourt.
Yes, it's lovely to have one but the only reason I have is because they are motability cars.
