I'm looking for new books to read and I'm trying to find something similar to those I've read over the years that have stuck with me. I'll start:

Of mice and men, the rats of nimh, persuasion, pride and prejudice, nicholas nickleby, oliver twist, little house on the prairie, the help, 12 years a slave, the color purple, the red pony, sunset song, memoirs of a geisha, little women, all the harry potter books, the prime of miss jean brodie,

I'm sure I'll remember more

Please recommend a book that will stick with me! Nothing scary though, I don't like scary. Also I hated Wuthering Heights so that stuck with me for the wrong reasons!

The razors edge Somerset Maugham

Its a bit like the Great Gatsby but with a load of philosophy and meditation. I've pretty much identified with all the characters over the years.

SaucyJack · 17/10/2018 21:10

The Goldfinch.

I second The Kite Runner but A Thousand Splendid Suns is even more amazing. Every woman in the UK should read it and be thankful for our freedom

Topseyt · 17/10/2018 21:10

Kite Runner. Also A Thousand Splendid Suns. Both by Khaled Hosseini.

I have also enjoyed The Watchmaker of Filigree Street and The Bedlam Stacks recently. Both by Natasha Pulley.

The Butterfly lion by Michael Morpurgo.
And a book called Treasure in an oatmeal box (can't remember the author) I read as a child and I've never forgotten it, it's probably not the best book I've ever read but very memorable. Both made me bawl my eyes out.
